Play offline chess against AI opponents with distinct personalities. Chessfolk brings together chess tournaments, guided lessons, game analysis and 2D or 3D boards in a single-player chess world. Play the core game without an internet connection or waiting for online matchmaking.

Meet your next chess rival

Discover more than 300 fictional AI players, each with a portrait, nationality, biography and playing style. Face patient defenders, bold attackers and Susu the Panda. Find opponents by name, country or Elo, or choose a rival near your level. Practice at your own pace, from learning the rules to taking on stronger opposition.

Compete in offline chess tournaments

Create round-robin, Swiss-system or knockout tournaments with up to 64 players. Choose rivals by nationality and rating, follow pairings and standings, and keep your tournament history. Enter recurring events and play at illustrated venues inspired by chess around the world.

Build your personal Elo journey

Play rated games against the computer and track your in-app Elo, rating chart and match history. Review wins, draws, losses and opening statistics. Create separate local profiles so each player keeps their own progress. Chessfolk ratings are for your progress inside the app, not an official federation rating.

Learn chess and review your games

Follow guided chess lessons with explanations and animated moves. Study openings and common replies with Premium Opening Explorer. Premium Game Review analyzes moves and highlights inaccuracies, mistakes, missed chances and blunders so you can revisit key positions. Some lessons require Premium; Premium also removes ads.

Choose 2D or 3D chess

Play on a clear 2D board or explore the 3D view. Personalize your board and pieces with different themes. Use the Chess Set Workshop to import piece artwork, assemble your own set, and export it to share.

Play at your preferred pace

Choose bullet, blitz, rapid, classical or custom chess clocks, with increment, delay and multi-period options. For two-player chess on one device, start a local game with a guest or two saved profiles. AI games and offline tournaments do not require another player to be online.
