First I'll say that rift is a great game, however it has one small flaw which decided whether or not I would recommend this game to others.
The game itself is as good I would say as any subscribtion f2p MMORPG out there, better then some actually because the game is actively worked on by devs and lots of bug fixes, I almost never have had a game crash or see visual bugs. The game is clearly a polished and honed mmorpg and is pretty good at its current state effective of 6/13/2014.
However, the small flaw, which actually is a huge deal for me personally, made me decide to not recommend and quit the game entirely.
This game is free to play in name only, You are not required to, but pretty much have to if you are going to play anywhere past level 50, meaning endgame. And what would be the point of investing time and energy into a game where you hit a pay wall. the pay wall in rift is its loyalty points issue. basically, in rift, you cannot auction. at all. not one item. unless you have spent 10 dollars. and their is a in game currency coin cap. 2500 platinum which is an extremely small amount when people are running around with tens of thousands of platinum.
All in all this game is good and i would say probably would suit casual players, but even then the no auction and coin cap rule is foolish IMO on the part of rifts dev team. The rift community is quite tiny and probably not growing due to this one small/large issue depending on how you look at it. But this is the games pay to play wall. Beware.
