"The recording mechanic is fun and highly inventive despite some issues, and we feel the possibilities were suitably explored within an hour of playtime."

Análisis

“Technically the ‘main feature’ in the Thinking with Time Machine mod is a time machine ..., which is great and all but look, LEGS.”

Thinking with Time Machine, or T.W.T.M. is a brilliant Portal 2 modification. The mod tries to continue the events after Portal 2 but of course it is unofficial and so this is not the continuation and this is not the third Portal game. However, if you're desperate for a Portal 3 right away, this is your best bet right now. The modification adds new gameplay, and of course one new crutial feature, time travelling. The mod still has Steam workshop and you can create your own testchambers, just like Portal 2 which I found exciting and great! There's a slight change to the graphics which is also good. Overall, I like the modification and think it's great! I reccomend it to anyone but you must play Portal and Portal 2 before you play Thinking with Time Machine as it kind of spoils some of the storyline! Reccomended! Thanks for reading!

So this essentially takes the record mechanic from the blinx games and attempts to build an entire game around it, and it fails to do so.

For this game its easier to lay out my problems with bullet points than a paragraph.

1: the mechanic of using your copy to give you a boost onto higher platforms is a waste of everybodies time, its a lazy way to extend the game by making you go through the recording just to jump higher.

2: the actual usage of the time machine device is never tutorialised properly, i was standing around for about 15 minuites just figuring out how exactly it works, again another massive waste of time that couldve been avoided by a proper tutorial (or better yet a more streamlined system)

3: as stated above, i believe the usage of the time machine is too complex, going through many different actions, while say pressing a button, recording for 20 seconds, then automatically reversing time back to the original point and playing the recording, is FAR simpler and achieves the exact same end goal.

4: the art design is just plain dull

5: due to the fetish of having many cubes and laser fields to vaporise them, you can end up 5-7 minuites into a puzzle, accidentally twitch your thumb, and suddenly your cube is vaporised, meaning you have to go through all that crap again just to get back to where you were, this couldve been avoided by better level design

now lets move onto the positive points.

1: if you were to remove the BS "give me a lift buddy" segments, and the levels relating to point #5, the level design is actually pretty good nevermind, i just remember all the levels outside of the first 5 are tedious as ♥♥♥♥, and give you absolutely no room for error and punish you by wasting 10 minuites of your time if you ♥♥♥♥ up.

that is pretty much it.

overall, when i heard about this game, i expected an ok puzzle experience, what i got was a situation where someone threw crap at a wall to see what sticks, but also included the crap that didnt stick for some reason.

This was not a very fun game, and the only mechanic I liked was the time-traveling.

Good concept. Game continues to run, even when I restart computer. Very annoying and can't do anything! >:(

I thought this would have had time travel, like... time bombs in Black Ops II's Buried. Not recording puzzles like in Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time.

4/10. For effort.

If you liked Portal or Portal 2, and aren't aversed to mods, then you should try this game. Ultimately, the only gripe I have is that it was so short.

A great addon to an already amazing game. Though I do suck at this addon it has been fun. It brings the same mind-bending puzzles in Portal 2 but with the twist of time travel. This is a fun addon for those who enjoyed Portal 2.
