If Valve made games with the number (CENSORED), then this would be the (CENSORED) game in the series.

Very unique (directed towards time machine aspect). The textures are great and very futuristic, yet, does not cause lag on slower Computers. I run this on my Asus transformer book (windows tablet) and I have it on medium graphics and I have no lag whatsoever. One thing that makes zero sense is how the levels are upward. You have already gone extremely far up, and, as seen in portal 1 the ground is not that far above glados's lair. It would have made more logical sense to go down instead of up. But what the heck, its a great game overall when you look past ones scientific, philosophical, and OSD, along with the fact of realizing portal already lacks legitness to it, with a portal gun and time machine, as well as a psychopath ai (wheatly), and a murderous and mentally unstable ai (Glados), LOL.

Thinking with Time Machine is not only a fantastic spin on the ending of Portal 2, it's a great game in it's own right. The new mechanic takes a bit of getting used to but once you do it's fun and challenging. The custom areas and animations are divine (Save for a few graphical bugs.) and y'know what the best part is? It's FREE. TO. PLAY! What else is there to say? Download now! :D

Thinking with Time Machine, or T.W.T.M. is a brilliant Portal 2 modification. The mod tries to continue the events after Portal 2 but of course it is unofficial and so this is not the continuation and this is not the third Portal game. However, if you're desperate for a Portal 3 right away, this is your best bet right now. The modification adds new gameplay, and of course one new crutial feature, time travelling. The mod still has Steam workshop and you can create your own testchambers, just like Portal 2 which I found exciting and great! There's a slight change to the graphics which is also good. Overall, I like the modification and think it's great! I reccomend it to anyone but you must play Portal and Portal 2 before you play Thinking with Time Machine as it kind of spoils some of the storyline! Reccomended! Thanks for reading!

Much like playing the multiplayer co-op by yourself. Very challenging and fun, you will have a hard time putting it down. I looks like they had the backing of Valve with this from the looks of the opening video.

Thinking with Time Machine is a Portal 2 mod that includes 4 tutorial chambers and 9 test chambers (actually there're 8 test chambers because you don't really have to do anything on the last one).

It introduces a very interesting device, the Time Machine, which allows you to record and replay your movements, meaning that there may be two of you at the same time. That brings new possibilities and you actually have to change your way to think when trying to solve the puzzles.

The game is kinda buggy sometimes but overall I found it really fun to play and certainly challenging - some test chambers aren't exactly straightforward. In addition, this mod is available for free (it only requires you to own Portal 2) so I highly recommend to give it a try.

This is hard to write a review for. Take what I say with a grain of salt.

PROS
  • The concept of a time machine is a good one, and the mod carries it out very well.
  • The chambers look very nice, and they bring a new feel to Aperture.
  • The story behind the mod is a nice one.

CONS
  • Some puzzles are incredibly difficult to carry out, since they require near-perfect timing, specifically Chamber 6 and Chamber 8. This makes them tedious to solve.
  • It's pretty short. I only had about an hour and a half of playtime. I understand it isn't a whole new game, but it is only about one-third the length of the first Portal game. (10-ish chambers)
  • There's no voice acting, except for a few lines at the end. I was kind of hoping there would be a companion of some sort to help guide you through the chambers.

Otherwise, it was a good mod. I would also like to congratulate the developers on Mod of the Week.

TL;DR: A decent mod, albeit short and tedious. I would recommend it.

Probably the closest we'll get to Portal 3. Overall, a wonderfully satisfying mod.

Weak points of this mod:

- The story is very thin. Don't expect the carefully-planned plot of Portal 1 or 2. It sets the premise but that's about it. It's almost entirely superfluous. The ending is almost nonsensical, but in the end, it's about as sensible as the rest of what passes for a plot. Fortunately, the point of this mod isn't the story.
- It is also quite short. Expect about 1 hour play time. That's understandable, considering the small number of people who made this. But I really enjoyed it, so 9 levels aren't enough!
- The progression of difficulty is a bit out-of-order. The hardest level was about half-way through (level 6, I think), and thereafter things seemed to get easier. But maybe that was just my learning curve.

Strong points of this mod:
- This mod is well made, especially considering the small number of people behind it. The visual style is very nice--it is unique to the mod, but based heavily on Portal 2's graphics, so you still feel that you're in a different section of the same game. Everything is so shiny and smooth! The sound clips and so on are pretty much all from Portal 2 as well. I had no problem with glitchy graphics.
- The time machine mechanism is explained nicely with computer screens that have Bendy demonstrating various skills. Much like the original Portal, the first several chambers are very helpful in building up your skills for the harder levels later on. This is a very useful way of teaching how to use the time machine without changing the feel of Portal too much, because, unlike cube- and button-based testing, it's not at all obvious from the get-go.
- The actual mechanism of the time machine is *very* fun. I feel that it wasn't utilised to its full extent here--there is a lot more that could be done with it. But most of the chambers have multiple solutions, all requiring use of the time machine, so you can play to your strengths and figure things out in a variety of ways.
- Level design is very nice. As in Portal, the early levels make it fairly clear what needs solving, but later ones become more open-ended. Every level has been designed with the time machine strongly in mind. It's quite impressive, when you consider the potential complexity given by the time machine.
- It's free!

Considering the price ($0), this is definitely worth playing. I would absolutely recommend it as a fun mini-continuation of Portal 2. The graphics, mechanism, and level design are all at a very high standard, higher than most games that cost actual money.

Thinking With Time Machine what can I say about this mod. This is a very well polished mod from what I have seen and has obviously it is popular otherwise it would not have been released stand-alone.

The story is very minimal basically at the beginning of the game you are treated by the ending cutscene of Portal 2 and then you find out you have been tricked and find out the cornfield is actually a lot of monitors put together to make you think you escaped when really you didn't which is a nice plot twist for the ending of Portal 2 after that yu are going through chambers and find GLADOS supposedly dead and Atlus and P-Body are talking about how Chell is doing the time machine course and that is basically where the story ends.

However the mod brings a very interesting and new mechanic to Portal the time machine where you create another Chell and use that other Chell to complete the chambers that look like they can only be done in Co-Op other than the gameplay and most easy chambers and some very difficult Thinking With Time Machine is a very polished refined mod for Portal 2 with interesting new mechanics to add to your experience.

If you wanted more after Portal 2 this is a good place to start besides its free and you don't need Portal 2 to run it so download it its really fun. Although its short this is a free 2 hours of entertainment for one night or evening.
