What to expect from the most recent update:

For this update we wanted to focus on enhancing player accessibility with better in-game feedback, greater AI activity, and most importantly, integration of Steam Workshop for The Great War. We are looking forward to working with players to create an active and creative modding community. The Editor is fully functional. We’ll be addressing usability issues and adding more features in the coming months. As always, we’re interested in hearing from you on what’s working well and ideas on tools to facilitate the process.

There are more improvements to naval gameplay that should present new challenges to the Great Powers. The AI now has Anti-Submarine initiative. Enemy destroyers will try to hunt down and engage your Submarines fleets. This is a counter to the Wolfpack tactics we added in the last update. Naval AI will consider fleeing losing battles and seek out a safe port where they can repair and refuel ships. Additionally, we’ve modified the decision making around declaring Unrestricted Submarine Warfare since sinking non-combatant trading vessels can ruin relations and trigger war.

In the UI we’ve continued with our efforts to develop the Summary Panel into a centralized location to monitor critical game updates. This is an area we feel has potential to evolve and offer customization so players can choose what’s important to them. Another improvement that we intend to build on is incorporating some AI decision making into the notifications. The game will now give a reason why a nation went to war.

And finally, the tech requirement for making Gas Shell technology has been relocated to an earlier spot on the Research Tree. As a result, expect to see more green haze on the the battlefields.
