Pixel Piracy, the 2D Pirate Simulator, is back with a foundational rebuild that brings the game to its full potential! From items to stats, to islands and loot, to the brand new Sailor Mode and Tutorial - the entire game has been revisited over the past six months to provide you with the most polished experience we’ve crafted to date. With the help of our partners at Re-Logic (Terraria) we are proud to bring you an update that takes Pixel Piracy to a place worthy of its name.

Lots of fun, has 3 modes so you can play over and over in more complicated versions! Updated a lot and doesnt need a good computer to play and i know because i play on an 6 year old lap top. Once in a wile you will suffer the worst thing a charecter going over board for no reason wich instantly kills them. Has problems with cleaning, i have 8 people with the "clean" perk and they still dont clean. i have had hours of fun and my longest game lasting 12 hours.

Fun in the first 3 hours. Then too repetitive. I totally lost interest after I beat the first boss.

'Ther game is pretty good, a few bugs but when you get past therm it's actually really good'
Honestly this is one of my favourite games but the lack of polish is astounding. I'm writing this at 2 in the morning and I'm actually crying with how broken the game is. Not to say that it's bad, but the fact that the scaling is difficult to deal with and the AI is a bit stupid makes the game unfairly difficult. To say the game is a bit of a stretch, while it doesn't seem to have small mechanics fixed such as teaching skills or how food is distributed.
However, the game has a lot of potential. I love the fighting and sailing mechanics as well as the division of crews and the way the map is layed out.
If I were to make a general statement about the game I'd say it's horribly broken but basically very well designed.

Right now the game is only 3.49 becasue of a sale and it provides at least 3 hours of fun without becoming tedious. About half the people who buy the game dont like it and only spend enough time to beat one legendary pirate lord and think "screw this Im not going to spend the time to travel around the map and get the other 3". But other people like the game and will replay the game to beat legendary mode. [but they probably will not spend 132 hours on it like me]. The point is the game is worth 3 bucks, even if you dont like it there is enough new things in the beggining to make the game worth it.

It still warms my heart to see a ship shapted like a shoe

You discover new things in the first 10 hours of the game.

If You enjoy the game, You can pay up to 60 hours.

If you seek for a cheap, 10+ hours game, then go ahead.

But the game is boring for a longer run.

Disclaimer: I'm going to assume that you know what the game is about, and like in this review.

I would describe this game with the following sentence: an amazing idea that falls short because of bugs. This game in concept and excecution is amazing, but is littered by bugs, glitches and a couple of design flaws here and there that inhibit it from reaching it's true potential. For one, the framerate dips, especially when you have a bigger boat and more crew members, later in your play through. Another issue that comes with more crew members is poop (literally). Your crew members poop a lot, and poop manuals to teach pirates how to clean them are scarce. This means that your boat will always be a poopfest, and you'll have to keep on stealing other pirate's boats to keep a clean boat. Furthermore, scurvy. Scurvy is a status that a pirate gains when it doesn't eat enough lemons, fish, etc.. This wouldn't be a problem if these foods were easy to find. However, you have to travel all accross the world just to find a measly lemon, and that doesn't even fix it all, because you'll need way more. This makes your crews stats decrease, which affects the gameplay.

Although the game has many, many flaws, it's still very fun and I still recommend it due to the sheer enjoyment I got out of the gameplay, and creating fictional storylines with the events that occurred to me in my travels. Get this game, or wait till they fix the bugs. I would get it now because most of the flaws come in the late game, and you'll already have around 6 hours of enjoyment out of it.

Development was going good, promises were made, and the game looked great. Then the developers seemed to have fallen off the face of the Earth. They seem to have a sudden burst of activity and then just leave. Moving on, the game gets old extremely fast and there's bugs everywhere. I also really hate the graphics. The old graphics were perfectly fine and then the developers came out of nowhere and threw this ugly filter on it. Might be able to turn it off but I haven't found an option for it yet.

Don't get me wrong, it's a decent idea but the devs completely left us hanging. I would have loved this game if the devs would update it.

  • Fun game, for a while
  • Interesting ship-building and exploration system.

  • Graphics settings are a bit odd.

  • Very, very buggy.
  • Progressively becomes laggier and laggier the longer you play.
  • Repetetive, no real replay value.
  • Combat is lame.
  • Inventory management is horrible.
  • Devs seem to have abandoned the game.

In short, don't buy this unless it's on sale, and even then you might want to find something better to spend your dinero on.

The development team basically does nothing.

No updates for months and months at a team, no cummunication at all with the consumers.

Do not buy this game until it's eventual abandonment and reduction in price to a dollar or two.

Pixell Piracy is a mixed box for me.

I\'ll start off by saying that yes, I did sink over 4 hours into the game first session, so the game is certainly enjoyable and rewarding to some degree. However, lack of UI clarity and a vague item description hold this one back. Here\'s a basic list of pros and cons in my opinion.

-Lots of islands to visit.
-Fun but simple combat.
-Killing pirates and getting loot is satisfying.
-Neat pixel graphics.
-Expanding and building your own ship/crew is enjoyable and motivating.

-UI is vague and difficult to navigate.
-Weapons stores tell very little of what the weapons actually do.
-When buying crew members, it\'s basically a box of chocolates; you never know what you\'re gonna get (again, thanks to the crummy, nondescript UI).
-A constant loot stream in the side of the screen makes it difficult to keep track of any particularly good loot you\'ve gained without checking your inventory periodically.

I got this game on sale for roughly $2.50. I figured I could supplement one cup of coffee this week for a full fledged indie game, and I think it was worth it. I look forward to continuing my adventures in the open seas with my crew, Captain Trevor, Mickey, and Vidali, but not before the interface gets a substantial overhaul.

Game feels incomplete.

Lots of info are missing, sometimes I can`t see the X from the Treasure Map inside an island. Later I was able to see, but I don`t understand exactly why. Maybe it`s Intelligence?

Pets are useless.

You wouldn`t know that Int gives Discount when buying things.

Travelling takes a huge time and is annoying.

When you have a huge crew the constant noise of them chewing food makes me insane.

Game becomes way laggier on late game to the point my cannoners are able to shoot 8 cannonballs at once each.

Having to wait 50 seconds to start a battle because of the bordering time limit is annoying as ♥♥♥♥.

I really liked when I put one of my crew to use the cannon, the enemy thought it would be a good idea to enter my ship then he killed all my pets, feels awesome.

Seriously, just ignore pets, they are useless.

Somehow Ranged Weapons can`t be leveled through use. Only through grindstones.

Also the tutorial says that you need TP to learn Skill Books, but I think they changed it so you don`t need TP to use skillbooks anymore.

If you have someone fishing, he ignores the fact that he has Skurvy and dies if you don`t do anything.

Fishing sucks, they are useful in a certain part of the game, but then you start getting huge amounts of money, so you buy Soup / Melons / Sea Biscuit which are thousand times more effective than fishing.

Fisher can`t repair Ship.

Chicken can't make eggs somehow.

Pets are useless.

One time when I was doing a bounty quest when I killed the guy, his corpse didn't get thrown out of my ship and the quest bugged. So the island was empty but I wasn't able to get the quest reward.

You should really have at least one character going full int, the price discount is very nice.

Agility is overpowered, having a character with 40-60 agility is better than any other stat.

Somehow when playing on legendary, high leveled Islands are really tough. Animals not only have lots of evasion but sometimes the massive amount of enemies over there keeps knocking you back. I guess when you get 12+ crew + cannons it becomes a lot easier.

It's super fun (and yes the pirates are CUTE) to me at first...but that lasted for only about 4 hours. Then it gets kind of repititive and boring (and the goals seem somewhat easy). It could be a great game with new contents, I just don't know if the developers are still working on it. Also with all the patches it still has lots of bugs and that's annoying, I get stuck every 30 min.
I got it on promotion but if you are looking to buy this game with its original price, not worth the money.

I bought this game back in it's "Early Access" stage and it looked freaking amazing back then. After playing it again after about a year of not touching it, I saw it was finally released as an actual game with frequent updates. The game is one of the better games out there.

There was so much TLC put into this game and it shows.

You should buy it without questing.
