게임에 대해

War of the Human Tanks is a story driven strategy game with a gameplay reminiscent of Battleship and Chess, featuring a story of war, loyalty, sacrifice and human shaped tanks.

This story takes place in a land vaguely reminiscent of modern-day Japan. In the twenty years since the first Human Tank was developed, the war raging between the Empire of Japon and the Kingdom of Japon has turned into a proxy war fought between Human Tanks on both sides.

The Empire of Japon once ruled the entire land of Japon. Now diminished and cornered, the Empire prepares to make its last stand as the tanks of the Kingdom of Japon draw close to its capital. Shoutaro Daihon'ei, Lieutenant of the Imperial Army moves out to the battlefield, followed closely by the loyal Human Tanks in his company.

Human-like Tanks: what's not to like. Gameplay is easy enough; I found it to be like a watered-down version of Advance Wars, with one of the largest divergences being tile size = hit points (1x1 unit is killed/destroyed by one hit, with a few exceptions).

I liked the storyline between battles too. If you read in other reviews about how the cutscenes were too long; you can speed it up by holding down Spacebar, if I remember correctly. You can also unlock and replay maps, if you're not into the main storyline.

Get the game, or you'll make Heshiko cry a second tear.

A fast, original and very clever turn-based tactical combat game, which is a kind of modern version of Battleships.

Anyone who has bought a fair number of visual novels on Steam knows all too well that Steam seems to have little quality control nowadays, especially in regards to visual novels. Plenty of visual novels that have been released on Steam fail in all regards, bad art, an even worse story and terrible music. So I’ve become apprehensive about buying visual novels from Steam.

War of the Human Tanks, of course, is not solely a visual novel. Most of the gameplay is a top down strategy game. So, assuming that the visual novel part of the game would mostly be filler in between battles, I decided to pick the game up.

First of all let me say that the actual gameplay in Human Tanks isn’t very interesting. It will likely remain interesting for the majority of your first play through (which will take about 5 hours) but once you go back to get the other endings it will start to become a grind. In short, it doesn’t have much depth. Not only that, but the game is also extremely easy, so little to no strategizing is needed to win the game. Once you figure things out it essentially boils down to moving your units forward until you win.

However, the visual novel part of the game remains interesting throughout. It was often humorous and I also found myself becoming more attached to a number of the human tanks than I honestly should have been given the lack of depth in the story. I feel like I was a bit cheated into liking them because of the cute art style and the overall sadness of their existence, but hey, in the end I cared about the story and wanted to see how it ended and that means it did something right.

The art in the game is serviceable but far from great. For the visual novel part of the game the character sprites are a very simplistic chibi style and look good enough, however, they clash greatly with the backgrounds which are just photographs ran through a filter. In the end, the backgrounds are not that distracting and the various art in the actual gameplay portions go perfectly fine together.

Most of the soundtrack is nothing special, but it gets the job done of setting the tone. A few of the tracks are quite good and a few of them are rather poor. All together Human Tank’s soundtrack is fairly average. The sound effects will be rather loud compared to the music unless you lower their volume in the system options, but it is forgivable seeing as they give you the option to turn them down.

Overall, the gameplay of War of the Human Tanks is lackluster but it turned out to be a surprisingly interesting visual novel. Neither the gameplay nor the visual novel are good enough to stand on their own, but together they’re good enough to keep you interested for the time it takes to finish the campaign and get some of the alternative endings. The visual novel part is the better of the two though, so I would not suggest buying it if you’re mainly interested in the gameplay. If you’re looking to buy a visual novel on Steam that isn’t terrible like many of the others on Steam I’d definitely suggest picking this game up.

War Of The Human Tanks has quite the weird premise in that, as you can guess, that the tanks used in battle are human or at least things that act and look human. The game has been developed by Yakiniku Banzai and published by Fruitbat Factory, and you can tell inspiration has come from the classic game of Battleship with an evolution to the formula. a bold task to undertake and one that has been well executed. It’s hard not to compare War Of The Human Tanks to battleship where you place your pieces on the board, while the AI does the same though neither side can see where the enemy positions are. Your pieces are combined of Command units which if destroyed means you lose the battle,Shock units that are basically bombs,Assault units that are the basic infantry, Battery that can do long range damage, Scouts which do recon, Interceptors which defend your units from incoming missiles and finally the Samurai/Knight tanks which are the only units that can evade attacks. These seven types are unlocked over the course of the campaign, and after each battle you can upgrade them by developing units with more weapons or modules that give certain advantages to different tanks. It's a good system to have because it keeps the game interesting as you decide how to shape your army as the battles get tougher. The actual war is mix of anticipation and luck.In War Of The Human Tanks the pieces move around, so at one point you may discover where a unit is then the next second that enemy could have moved onto one of the unknown squares. Its a mechanic that can lead to some tense battles, but they never stray into frustrating. In fact when you lose a battle it doesn’t seem unfair but instead a lesson, as you work out which tanks the enemy is fielding and figure out how to counter them. The game’s campaign is designed like it is a TV show with intros and end credits present before and after each battle. There will be story scenes before the battle giving both a background and adding more depth to the characters, then scenes after the battle showing character reactions. What I also liked is that outside of key battles you didn’t have to win them for the story to progress. If you’re looking for a cheap strategy title then this is definitely for you.

Adorable...and yet ruthless at the same time. Remember, human tanks have no rights, and are totally expendable.

I wanted to like this game pretty badly, as the reviews and description for it had me kinda hyped. Unfortunately, I just couldn't get into it enough that I would recommend it to anyone.

The main issue is that you spend more time clicking though dialogue than fighting, and where that may work for Mass Effect and similar games, this one has nowhere near a strong enough storyline to support that. I felt like I was trapped in a bad anime- everything was over-cliched (seemingly on purpose- I hope), and there was no interaction or input from the player at all. This is coming from someone who likes both anime and anime-based games, as well. I feel like some sort of dialogue options, main character customization, or ability to make decisions regarding the story might have done a lot to make me feel at least slightly invested, but as it was I felt like a passenger just along for the ride, and lost interest quickly.

I also feel the story is too silly and over the top to try to throw in existential questions about the humanity of your human tanks, or to make you try to feel bad for seeing them die in combat- it just ended up feeling so out of place, like they were trying to tell two different stories at the same time. Which is overall sad, because I think those things if better executed or embedded in a less silly story would have been great hooks for a player's interest.

The combat is okay, but it's not deep or complex enough to save you from the story. Directing your units in combat felt clunky in some way I can't quite put my finger on, but probably would have become familiar enough over time to not be a concern, had I been engaged enough to continue playing.

In short, I don't remember how much I paid for this game, but unless it was under 2$, I feel it was too much.

Human Tanks I - War of the Human Tanks is an interesting outlook on reality. This game, in its lighthearted shell that is anime contains a dark parallel to our world, where human tanks coincidentally also do not have rights. It may seem like a joke to some but not everyone is a special peanut like Heshiko. The generic Mikes and Asahis and Pochis in this game don't get a second chance in the battlefield because they are like us: expendable. Human Tanks I - War of the Human Tanks has shown that a piece of art that can be both a game, and an exposition of the futility that is life that we human tanks do not truly get to enjoy.

RIP in piece, Masamune.

It's been a long time since I've finish a game with a good story. To be honest, I didn't expect much from this game, but then I got addicted to it and keep playing for hours. It has really cute art style, the soundtrack isn't too shabby and an average of 9 hours of gameplay. If you're looking for a game with good story, definitely buy this. It's worth all the money you ♥♥♥♥ing threw to it.And the announcement on the Store page said that the sequel will soon to be released and I'm looking forward to it. I'll give this game a 9/10 it's great. Buy it.

Everything else in this game is fine, except that developing new modules and tanks costs too much.

How do you beat this game?:
1. Develop assault tanks until you get "Kodama"
2. Develop scout tanks until you get "Mii"
3. Basically with these anyone should be able to beat the game (One does not simply beat Mr. Cat with these tho)

This is a nice and pretty laid-back strategy game with a (to me, atleast) fun storyline.
The units are easy to understand and master, making it quick to pick up.
Resource gathering is also pretty simple: depending on how many enemy units you destroyed, you get resources (called supplies) awarded at the of of a mission (even one you lost!).

The game starts off simple, with missions that can be won with little or no casualties. But after the third mission it starts to increase in difficulty (albeit slowly) so be sure to research new units and equip power-ups to your tanks.

There are three main methods of attack: fast close-quarters "kamikaze" units, medium speed short-range assault, and slow but long-ranged artillery (Personally, I feel that attacking with the kamikaze tanks is basically trolling the enemy, so I only do that for sh*ts and giggles).
Scouts and anti-artillery units add depth to the gameplay due to their early warning and defensive capabilities, respectively.
