oh i hadn't wrote a review for it yet
it's really bad.
the game is just awful.

For starters, some 12 year old kid made a different mod, who lived in Sweden, and mainly spoke Swedish.
That mod had it's own custom models and textures, maps, enemies, so on so forth.
Own music, own sounds, and over 30 maps (I think, that game was pretty long)
It also had pretty fluent english, I never noticed a single typo.
That kid is grown up, and his name is ruMpel.
Oh and he made another modification which shouldn't be compared to this.
Like how Afraid of Monsters shouldn't be compared to this.

Some grown-up ♥♥♥♥♥♥ bag went in ♥♥♥-effort to make like, two-three maps.
It had horrible grammar (a patch had been released, mission faild).
For god's Sake, he obnoxiously advertised himself in his own game.

Obviously I don't recommend this game.

Go play Gunman Chronicles or something, IDK.
That's also a nice mod.

Half-Life: Before looked promising when i saw it at the steam store but sadly in the end it didn't meet up with the expectations. The encounters on the deck were easily avoidable by just running through and it didn't challenge me much other then wonder what is going on storywise. Fights became repetitive after a while that was not a good sign either.

The ship map itself was nicely made however and in the 2 playthroughs i went through this game did not encounter any glitches that forced me to reload so when it comes to making maps the people who made this mod deserves some credit. The soundtrack this game had definitly deserves some credit for a job done right aswell, despite of the things this game lacked it created more tension in the athmosphere of the game. Enemy movement however leaves many desires, i encountered enemies who were unable to move properly around the place like they normally would but the final boss takes the grand prize for obvious reasons.

This is not a game mod i would reccomend for serious playing though it is free to download (Half-Life needed) and there is absolutely no harm in trying it out for yourself and share your thoughts about it.

I give my best of luck in the future to the developers of this mod who did their best to create and publish a game mod like this. It might not be an A+ title but we all have to make a beginning somewhere.

All the best!

This game is short but pretty good. I score it around 7/10.
I loved the Pistol's new disign and sound. It was pretty much what I used that whole time. XD
So all and all, short but sweet game.

Short Review: This is the worst HL mod ever. Avoid at all costs.

Long Review: You begin the game being thrust into the world knowing absolutely nothing. Then, they throw a bunch of enemies at you and practically every weapon in Half-Life. You don't know where you are or what you're doing, and you never do. After you stumble upon the only NPC in the game that isn't trying to kill you, he quickly explains that they've created something, it went wrong, and then says something about an artifact. You jump down into the second of two maps and then this face-down Nilanth with a barnacle tongue attacks you. After you shoot it with all the weapons you were provided earlier, the game just ends without any explaination of what just happened. The ten-minute journey has absolutely none of the features the mod promises. I'm not even convinced that it occurs in the Half-Life universe, but I don't know. Complete with terribly done cutscenes.

Rating: 2/10. Avoid playing.

This mod is terrible! You don't need to pay for it, but you'll be wasting too much of your time. I think that your time is too valuable to be wasted on this! I'll be happy to tell you why. Before I start though, be aware of the fact that the mod has two levels only, from what a lot of people said. I also couldn't get to the second level because of technically issues, the game crashed always!

You're Andrew Winner, a Black Mesa scientist tasked with the recovery of these strange crystals that come from the Xen dimension. Sounds like a big adventure involving different scenarios and awesome levels. No, don't expect that, the story doesn't go very deep either.

You know what Half-Life 1 does well? Pacing! Half-Life 1 doesn't throw you everything all at once. Gradually, the gameplay is kept fresh by throwing the necessary weapons and enemies over time. It also gives you a good number of ammunition, not too much and not too little. This game throws everything all at once ruining the pacing and that also wrecks the balance too.

Levels are too small and have cheap spawn traps. I entered a room filled with soldiers that easily tore me apart with bullets without me having the chance to ready myself. I can't shoot them unless I get in front of them, of which then they slaughter me!

The first boss level is ridiculous! It's a silly-looking monster that drops his Barnacle-like tongue and all you need to do is move around. There are also projectiles that are too slow to hit you. The boss is so weak that I beat him in 30 seconds. This is nothing!

This game is clearly unoptimized and unpolished. I had problems launching it since it said the executable was missing, the game would crash randomly and when I tried to go to the next level, it blocked! My PC laptop isn't game-focused, it's a Toshiba L500-13W but it can easily run without any difficulty Half-Life 1 and the Source version too. It can even run Half-Life 2 at 60 FPS! With this game I had to turn off vertical sync so the frame rate wouldn't drop below 30, but even then it had problems holding onto 60! This game is made in the GoldSrc, one of the most basic and oldest engines to date but it doesn't preform well. It's not finished from the looks of it. Finally, I can't get to the next and last level of the game!

The only thing the mod does well is the gun remodels and some action sequences. Why is it on Steam? Why was it greenlit? How? I do not know but do not play it for the love of whatever you consider holy! I don't recommend it!
