Life Goes On: Done to Death is Now Available!

Hey puzzle solvers!

We are so excited to finally announce that Life Goes On: Done to Death, the game where you have to die to progress, is available! We spent the last two years working on our original release, Life Goes On, to bring you an updated and expanded version that is bigger, better, and packed with tons of new features!

You can get the game right now at 25% off the regular price for launch week. (If you own the original Life Goes On, the update is FREE!).

So What’s Life Goes On: Done to Death?

Life Goes On: Done to Death is a comically-morbid platformer where you guide heroic knights to their demise and use the dead bodies to solve puzzles. Wanting to live forever, a mighty king sends his army of knights to find the Cup of Life. On this quest, you will summon knight after knight to be brutally sacrificed.

Impale knights on spikes to create a safe path. Catch a knight on a sawblade to land the body on a button. Freeze knights into blocks of ice to reach higher ground.

You’ll also electrocute knights to open doors, blast knights out of cannons, and even zombify a knight to be your violent, dim-witted friend. As you journey through treacherous and trap-ridden worlds, you’ll show no mercy to solve each challenging puzzle.

New Updates & Features!
  • More Levels! There now over 65 levels (almost doubling the playtime of the original game) within four vibrant worlds--this includes the brand-new “sky” world called The Ruins.

  • More Ways to Die! Ahh Zombies! You can now zombify a knight, or will the zombie kill you? There’s also portals to blast your knights through. And be careful not to get crushed!

  • Unlockable Hats and Weapons! Unlock amusing hats and weapons, and your knights will spawn wearing silly hats, like beanies, berets and horseheads, and wielding even sillier weapons, like dead fish and spatulas.

Did we mention that Life Goes On: Done to Death also includes a kick-ass boss fight, a map-integrated storyline, an armoury to check out all your hat and weapons, and other new features that make death even funnier than before?

If you’re new to our game, we hope you love it. And if you’ve played the original, we hope you love the updated version!

Get Life Goes On: Done to Death for 25% now!

Life Goes On: Done to Death is releasing on May 17, 2016!

Life Goes On: Done to Death is almost here! Since the release of Life Goes On in 2014, we have been working hard on improving, upgrading, and expanding the game.

So what’s new in Done to Death?

  • A new world called The Ruins (set in the sky), making up a total of four worlds and over 65 levels.
  • New levels that are longer, almost doubling the game’s total playtime. The levels are also more mind-boggling, and there are extra-difficult bonus levels for puzzle lovers.
  • New puzzle-solving mechanisms and tools such as dim-witted zombies and portals to transport knights.
  • More funny features and elements such as unlockable hats and weapons (think beanies and floppy fish).
  • The level selection map had gotten a complete overhaul, now including more art, sound effects, and a background story.

Current owners of Life Goes On will get this update for free! The game will auto-update in your Steam library on May 17th!

This game involves using your own death in various ways to overcome puzzles. It invludes laying down on spikes to create a death walkway, opening switches, getting flung from a cannon ball to open more switches, being a zombie. It is just like having any number of alternative selfs who could do button pushing for you. It is not something new but the death mechanic in the way of doing things I think is never been done before. the puzzles are pretty simple and you can breeze through the same as each level as subcheckpoints. The checkpoint system is itself unique in the way that it spawns you there after you did and that is used in many puzzles asa mechanic. Overall a good game if played in bursts. A long binge makes it very repetitive and boring. Recommened for a short playthrough each day over a period of a week.

I can't express how much I loved playing this game!! The level design was well thought out and the soundtrack is amazing! I highly suggest (and somewhat insist) others try their best not to watch playthroughs of the game and going into it blind. I promise you won't be disappointed!! The lightheartedness and humor was placed in the right moments. I always wanted to see what was next and kept thinking "okay maybe just one more level" and push on to the next part. The one piece of advice I have for new players is if you're stuck try restarting the level and tacking the puzzle from a different angle. Believe me, the "Aha!" moments are worth it!

First off, you're going to upset Jim by playing this game. Know that.
As for the rest, this is a cute little puzzle-platformer with some excellent levels and lots of replayability. The level design was mostly fun and occasionally rather stumping for how to get all of the trophies for each stage; or even just how to finish it! Comes with a strong recommendation

Great game where you have to think a head and use wisely knights.
In the game few levels can give hat or weapon.

Идея использования трупа для продвижения среди головоломок оригинальная.

It's a pretty fun puzzle platformer. I'd call it medium difficulty -- usually the solution becomes obvious within a few minutes, although "executing" it could take a few (... dozen ...) tries. I've never gotten completely stuck so far (currently on the 4th area or so) so the game only occasionally gets frustrating if you're just playing through and not focusing on the time/death challenges -- although I always try to do the Jeff challenge.

This is a fun little puzzle platformer that I couldn't get enough of. The puzzles can be challenging to solve, but not overwhelming. Cool concept, fun graphics, interesting mechanics. I'm sure I'll go back to it to better my times.

For about the price of a kebab & chips - where I live anyway - you can pick yourself up a brilliant little platformer. Fantasitc graphics, nice little soundtrack, funny sacrifical knights witn equally comical names. This game is a lot of fun, with the just about the right level of platform game problem solving while raising a slightly macabre smile.

Good little puzzle platformer with a difference... Instead of trying to stay alive until the end of the level, you mercilessly sacrifice countless knights in a variety of entertaining ways just so that one can eventually make it to the end. Usually by trampling over the corpses of his fallen predecessors. The trick is to not slaughter too many ;)

Recently the dev added more content, bug fixes, new maps and stuff for free to everybody that already owned the game. Bonus :)

Final Stage Review

Seguro que muchos de vosotros habéis soñado alguna vez con ser un caballero medieval en busca de aventuras. Pero seguro que a muy pocos les hará gracia morir en el intento. Pues ese es el espíriu de este gamberro título para PC: Life Goes On.

ANÁLISIS LIFE GOES ON

A knight to die for

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=466200505
Life Goes On, a puzzle platform adventure from indie studio Infinite Monkeys, takes what was great about Lemmings and literally spins it on its recently deceased head. Where Lemmings had you actively trying to avoid dangerous situations by guiding your dim-witted charges through a number of obstacles to a designated exit with the aim of minimal loss to life, Life Goes On takes the exact opposite approach when it comes to reaching a levels exit. In Life Goes On sacrifices for the greater good are going to need to be made and thankfully you have an arsenal of brave knights at your disposal who are ready and willing to throw themselves off cliffs, into spikes, don’t mind being sawn to pieces, catapulted out of a cannon or fried to an electrical crisp.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=465748745
The whole concept of Life Goes On is to kill, maim, fry or set fire to those who are brave enough to accept your challenge and then use their dead bodies to solve a myriad of puzzles. Since death is a tool and not a punishment in Life Goes On, the death of one knight soon becomes the salvation of another...but not for long however. It’s an engaging concept made even more morbidly fascinating by the fact that each level has a recommended body-count counter. Come in below the recommended counter and you will receive commendations, go on a knight killing spree and you will receive a slightly caustic comment before being moved onto the next level. While the games puzzles (51 levels in total that range across three different areas – mines, mountains and a castle) are not particularly difficult – even though some of the later late game levels do become head scratching affairs – it does become a rather fun exercise trying to ensure that you complete a level with as minimal a body count as possible.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=465748946
Life Goes On also includes a rather ingenious check point system represented as blue orbs throughout each level which are activated by simply touching them. Should one of your knights die the next knight will be automatically spawned from the last activated orb. These orbs often become puzzles in their own right and things can often get very tricky if you find you need to backtrack or try your best not to activate some of them in order to succeed. If I have a few gripes with Life Goes On is that some puzzle elements are used repeatedly which removes some of the challenge. Also for a puzzle platformer the game is not particularly challenging and is incredibly short and can be completed in 5 hrs or less depending on how you approach each level. For the most part though, Life Goes On sets out to achieve its goal through sly humor with a deliciously dark twist and often ends up succeeding admirably.

For seasoned puzzle enthusiasts Life Goes On will probably offer up very little challenge beyond what some will see as more of a gimmick that is never truly fleshed out enough to warrant a recommended purchase but for those of you who don’t take your gaming too seriously should find that there is more than enough here for you to enjoy and mull over while you plot your next knights demise. Just make sure you stay for the games end credits...you won’t regret it.

Interesting mix of platforming and puzzle gameplay. You know you got something special when I couldn't exit the game until I finished every challenge on the first 20 levels. Still itching for more.

Edit: I just finished the game and I can say for sure it's a must-buy if you love puzzle games and platformers. Most of the puzzles are on the easy side though, but there is still some challenge to be had here with some of the optional objectives. Absolutely love the music!

I was asked to check out Life Goes On for my first impressions video series. I'm very glad I was as it's a very imaginative puzzler that I've continued playing in my off time as a result of enjoying it so much. The game has a much needed sense of humour about things (since otherwise you're just commiting mass puzzle solving murder) and is a lot of fun. The puzzles themselves vary a bit in terms of difficulty but once you get a grip on the mechanics I don't think you'll ever get frustrated to the point of giving up. New mechanics get introduced with each new location you visit also, such as being able to freeze your knights or make them levitate.

If you're curious to see it in action my first impressions video can be seen below.

As someone who frequently dies in video games, this game is wonderful. Dying is expected, necessary, and actually fun in this game. It's simple to understand, but solving the puzzles efficiently is challenging enough to make it fun without being ridiculously difficult. Life Goes On is definitely a game that everyone should try.
