Life Goes On: Done to Death is Now Available!

Hey puzzle solvers!

We are so excited to finally announce that Life Goes On: Done to Death, the game where you have to die to progress, is available! We spent the last two years working on our original release, Life Goes On, to bring you an updated and expanded version that is bigger, better, and packed with tons of new features!

You can get the game right now at 25% off the regular price for launch week. (If you own the original Life Goes On, the update is FREE!).

So What’s Life Goes On: Done to Death?

Life Goes On: Done to Death is a comically-morbid platformer where you guide heroic knights to their demise and use the dead bodies to solve puzzles. Wanting to live forever, a mighty king sends his army of knights to find the Cup of Life. On this quest, you will summon knight after knight to be brutally sacrificed.

Impale knights on spikes to create a safe path. Catch a knight on a sawblade to land the body on a button. Freeze knights into blocks of ice to reach higher ground.

You’ll also electrocute knights to open doors, blast knights out of cannons, and even zombify a knight to be your violent, dim-witted friend. As you journey through treacherous and trap-ridden worlds, you’ll show no mercy to solve each challenging puzzle.

New Updates & Features!
  • More Levels! There now over 65 levels (almost doubling the playtime of the original game) within four vibrant worlds--this includes the brand-new “sky” world called The Ruins.

  • More Ways to Die! Ahh Zombies! You can now zombify a knight, or will the zombie kill you? There’s also portals to blast your knights through. And be careful not to get crushed!

  • Unlockable Hats and Weapons! Unlock amusing hats and weapons, and your knights will spawn wearing silly hats, like beanies, berets and horseheads, and wielding even sillier weapons, like dead fish and spatulas.

    Did we mention that Life Goes On: Done to Death also includes a kick-ass boss fight, a map-integrated storyline, an armoury to check out all your hat and weapons, and other new features that make death even funnier than before?

    If you’re new to our game, we hope you love it. And if you’ve played the original, we hope you love the updated version!

    Get Life Goes On: Done to Death for 25% now!

Life Goes On: Done to Death is releasing on May 17, 2016!

Life Goes On: Done to Death is almost here! Since the release of Life Goes On in 2014, we have been working hard on improving, upgrading, and expanding the game.

So what’s new in Done to Death?

  • A new world called The Ruins (set in the sky), making up a total of four worlds and over 65 levels.
  • New levels that are longer, almost doubling the game’s total playtime. The levels are also more mind-boggling, and there are extra-difficult bonus levels for puzzle lovers.
  • New puzzle-solving mechanisms and tools such as dim-witted zombies and portals to transport knights.
  • More funny features and elements such as unlockable hats and weapons (think beanies and floppy fish).
  • The level selection map had gotten a complete overhaul, now including more art, sound effects, and a background story.

Current owners of Life Goes On will get this update for free! The game will auto-update in your Steam library on May 17th!

Bought this game back in 2014. The game was really good, but I was kind of dissapointed there were too few levels. I am extremely happy to see that there is quite a lot more content released. Money well spent.

Life Goes On is one of those games where a small, simple concept really carries the game through the whole experience. The idea that you need to die to use your own corpse to get through a puzzle is really cool. Most of the puzzles force you plan a few steps ahead to strategically die in one spot to use that corpse later. The puzzles hit a sweet spot where they're not so tough that they leave you crying in frustration, but are hard enough that you'll need a few tries to see the solution, giving you a solid sense of satisfaction when you do solve it.

The game has a lot of charm and great sense of humour. It's pretty self-aware of how morbid it's core concept is and takes more than a little delight in punishing the main characters over and over again. I laughed out loud a couple of times.

Most players will finish the game in a single night, which is fair value for the price. I like games in which you can have a full experience in a single sitting. In that sense it reminds me of Thomas was Alone and similar indies. Each level has extras challenges and a target number of deaths needed to get to the end. I found myself replaying levels to try different tactics to avoid piling up bodies as a brute force solution to a puzzle.

The only complaint I have is that jumping feels a little loose at times. There's a particular sequence with ice blocks that I felt held me up because I had trouble sticking my jumps, not because I hadn't solved the puzzle. Beyond that, it also feels like the game shows you most of its ideas around 75% of the way through. Even so, I suggest sticking it through to the end because the final level for each world is epic and a great example of using level design to tell a story.

"Life Goes On" is an inventive, charming, morbid, and challenging game. If you like having your ingrained habits turned upside down, this game is for you. I felt very similar to the way I felt when learning to play Braid. It forces you to think about your character's impact on the world in completely new ways. Am I a monster for throwing away the lives of loyal knights like used tissues? Yes. Am I having lots of fun doing it? Darn right. Get this game.

This game was awesome i finnished it yesterday and enjoyed every minute of it the puzzles a unique and challenging and the various names are funny and often overexagerated in a good way. There are multiple puzzles in this game the first being the path to the goal, the second being the efficiency of the path you take and getting to your goal killing the least knights possible, the third being time sure you have to solve the puzzle but how quick can you do it? the final puzzle is the little fuzzy fluffball Jeff i have spent more time trying to figure out how to get to Jeff then I do solving the actual level itself and its fun! after you finish the game it becomes an achivement hunt youll find yourself playing the game soley for achivements and the one that will drive you insane is Beat the Devs this achivent has the most insane challenge and can get pretty frusturating that and room for one more (i dont think there is) all in all though great game but its short and I wish there were more levels and I hope Done to Death will satisfy that craving and I personally eagerly await its release

From the trailers, this game looked very promising. It seemed like a story with nice challenges. Boy, was I tricked into buying this. I have played this for half an hour, but it became boring very quickly. Very repetitive and there is no story. Just small, seperate levels without much feeling.

This is a game designed for achievement seekers.
- Beat the level under par time;
- Beat the level in fewer deaths than par;
- Awaken the monster.

This game is a fun little physics based puzzle game that has you valiantly send brave knights to their deaths so that they can help the next knights solve the puzzle!

Basic game premise is that you need to retrieve the golden chalice on the level while avoiding the various hazards. Thing is, the hazards typically require you to kill one of your knights in a creative way so that a future knight can take advantage and proceed further along on the puzzle. Mix in a twist of some dark humor and it's a fun experience that is easy to play in brief or longer sessions.

It also provides additional challenge modes such as completing with fewest deaths in certain amount of time to add some replayability.

It's morbidly hilarious at times with some good puzzle progression to get you thinking about how to use mechanics culiminating in some interesting and well designed puzzles by the end!

The mechanics of this game force you to think of your character in a very expendable and hilarious way. Some of the solutions are diabolical in what you have to do to yourself so the next you can win. (That last sentence got away from me.)

If you don't like puzzle games at all, you're not likely to enjoy this game. If you do like puzzles (or at least open to the idea) then read on! The difficulty of the puzzles ramps up nicely so you'll likely find some challenges in later levels, but not overly frustrating ones. The game also provides achievements beyond just finishing the levels, for those wanting more brain teasing. And the game just oozes charm, with its cartoonish knights (taking some of sting out of what is actually a pretty macabre game... a dark sense of humor may help) and death traps. One of my favorite things is the roster of, often silly, names at the bottom that get steadily crossed out as you kill more of your knights.

It has an expansion coming too, which likely means I'll be revisitng the game myself soon. Thumbs up!

I played the demo and it looked fun and promising. However, I'm sad to say that the entire game is the same as the demo. just grind through levels. I was hoping for something a little more silly or fun but did not get that. I'd recommend it if you like that kind of stuff, but I just don't like games that work better as an ipod game. I was expecting more than that.

So basically this is a puzzle game/platformer as others have said. It’s ingenuitive in it’s design and the humor is rather entertaining while morbid. It’s an fun, and relaxing in a strange way. You don’t feel pressured to survive, or complete the level super fast, the areas are pretty, and the music is nice. Over all a nice calm game of stepping on others to reach your goal... Literally.

Once I completed the game (on a different account) I did not know what to do with myself as few games provided me with the same freedom to kill with impunity.

Also, who is looking after Jeff? Why is he hungry? Why is he seemingly unaffected by lava? Can he teleport? Is he a he? Inquiring minds want to know.

"Stop at nothing" not just an idiom here.

It's about:
  • logic and sacrifice;
  • death screams and reward;
  • efficient use of human resources... or not.

Why you should play this:
  1. you played Blocks That Matter and/or Divided by Sheep, liked it and looking for something similar;
  2. thoughtful level-design:
    • usually puzzles not very hard because time pars or "death" pars not tight at all, but if you looking for challenge and want to waste as less as possible and beat the level as fast as possible, then the same level starts to look differently;
    • more than that, each puzzle includes another puzzle - you need to feed a beast with one of knights and how to get to the beast is a puzzle itself;
  3. great soundtrack - only few tracks, but all very pleasant;
  4. best "Credits" in this part of the Galaxy.

Why you may not like it:
  • you are obsessed member of labour organization/trade union and care too much about human rights.

No, it's not Putin sent these knights to die... even if "BBC" tells you so.

Great premise. Totally sold me.
And then the game turned out to actually be great!
The puzzles are fun, and if you can't figure them out right away, it's fun to throw away tons of nights trying to figure it out. They turned frustration into a funny thing.
The victory screen text also often makes me actually laugh.
Highly recommended.
