In Viscera Cleanup Detail, you step into the boots of a space-station janitor tasked with cleaning up after various horrific sci-fi horror events. Instead of machineguns and plasma-rifles, your tools are a mop and bucket. That hero left a mess, and it's up to you to deal with the aftermath.

Lo que dicen los desarrolladores:

“So you've elected to support development of Viscera Cleanup Detail by getting the Early Access build, great! There are a few things to keep in mind however, as we continue development, fix bugs, add content and polish it all up.
  • It's still in development, so it has issues, especially regarding network.
  • You might want to think twice about buying this now if you're looking for a polished product. However, if you want to support us and provide feedback for the game's development, we'd be super grateful!
  • The price will increase as it gets closer to the finished game.
  • Everything is subject to change; your favourite feature could be eradicated.

As we proceed with development, the major improvements you will see will be relating to new and improved maps, bug fixes and polish. New content will primarily be focused on creating interesting environments for our players to experience.

And on a final note, mod support will be coming very soon! So you'll be able to craft your own space-station massacres; hooray!”

From v0.35 to v1.0: tentative roadmap

Greetings everyone!

So here is our tentative roadmap for VCD from v0.35 (coming Friday probably) to v1.0 (hopefully in January). This is very much subject to change!

    Game
  • General fixes [too many to list specifically]
  • General tweaks [adjustments that will make themselves apparent as we go]
  • Office tweaks and improvements that might be required

    Maps
  • Robotics facility [fancy new map and environment with new things to deal with]
  • Paintenance [smaller map, theme shall remain secret for now!]
  • Zero-G - MAY NOT HAPPEN! [this will be a design and environment reworking of the Zero Gravity map]

    Features
  • J-HARM lift tool [for those hard to reach places!]
  • Broom tool [it'll make it easier to sweep objects together]
  • Artifact [muhaha!]
  • Lightning scars [fix with Plasma tool]
  • Radio [this depends very much on my ability to craft enough funky janitorial tunes!]
  • Foetus' for tanks [decorative]

    Content
  • *CLASSIFIED L9*
  • General audio pass:
This will be an overall pass of VCD audio, where we'll add new sounds where lacking, or repeat too often across multiple objects (eg: all the crates). Expect a few dozen new ones.
  • Hand animations [add more animations for the hands as needed, such as opening and closing, switching things on and off, palm scanner, etc]

    Other
  • Trading cards
  • Achievements
  • Mod support / Steam Workshop
  • Mac support [this is not a guarantee! we are not yet certain if it's possible, but we will try our best!]
  • Launch/Release video

This is how this roadmap should go down over updates. This is by no means complete or definite however, rather a general guide. We will aim to get things in in that order, and as quick as we can.
Fixes and tweaks aren't listed here, as they will be spread widely across the whole lot as we go :)

Update 0.34 live!

Greetings!

Well, it's been a while since the last one, as we attempted to get the Mac build working and focused a bit more time on Rooks Keep (due out very soon!). As the Mac build didn't behave, we'll keep going with normal updates, and hopefully slot a working Mac build in somewhere.

Also, there is some funk going on with the pricing increase to $10, so that will be delayed for a bit longer.. (YAY right??)

Anyway, v0.34 is now live and here are the changes. Major changes include better note/PDA holding, new anims for hands and the janitor(3rd person) and fixes! Changelog below:

    Maps:
  • Fixed Greenhouse lift not saving any data.
  • Improved disposal hatch in Janitor Office.
  • Improved Janitor Office door collision, you can now fit bins through them.
  • Improved visibility of 'pus-pod' splats in the Greenhouse.
  • The keypad pass-codes in the Janitor Office are now randomized on your first visit.
  • Fixed seed-beds in Greenhouse from accepting seeds in buckets and bins.
  • Added new a note to the Office and Greenhouse level.
  • Changed punchout reports when playing Cryogenesis.
  • Optimized Hydroponic Hell map (the particles specifically).

    Game:
  • Prevented machines spitting out gibs in speedrun mode.
  • Changed office level to now save automatically when you exit or quit.
  • Fixed empty buckets having sand in them after loading a saved game.
  • Added a visual cue to interactive keypads to aid in hacking.
  • Changed Bob's notes.
  • Added new third-person janitor movement animations.
  • Added new first-person hand animations.
  • Added Spam to the Supply Machine...uh oh!
  • Gave Flares the ability to burn small weak items such as papers and soda cans.
  • Fixed Sand Piles in digsite not being saved.
  • Made Goo-Jars spread an infection to dead things!
  • Fixed Mutant viscera using the wrong stump blood colour.
  • Added new note handling + anims, the hands now actually hold them just right!
  • Fixed draw depth of notes in multiplayer, they are no longer drawn over the player who's holding them.

    UI:
  • Added some basic map info to the Main Menu.
  • Fixed changing resolution and then turning off windowed mode causing the wrong resolution to be used.
  • Finally fixed Gamma setting not working!

    System:
  • Gave all Viscera Cleanup Detail classes their own class-group in the editor, should be easier to find now.

And there we go! Also of note, is this thread where we will talk about our daily development tasks for VCD. Also, this handy guide will help out with level creation for VCD.

Thanks ya'll and pleasant janitoring!

Análisis

“You know what I really love about violence? Dealing with the consequences! That’s why I’m so excited to see that Viscera Cleanup Detail, the space station janitor simulation, is now available on Steam Early Access.”
PCGamer

“By setting its mundane stall in the days after events that would be taken oh-so-seriously in another game, Viscera Cleanup Detail manages to be morbidly hilarious without ever telling a single joke.”

Acerca de este juego

Disaster! An alien invasion and subsequent infestation have decimated this facility. Many lives were lost, the facility was ruined and the aliens were unstoppable. All hope was lost until one survivor found the courage to fight back and put the aliens in their place!
It was a long and horrific battle as the survivor duelled with all manner of terrifying life-forms and alien mutations, but our hero won out in the end and destroyed the alien menace! Humanity was saved!

Unfortunately, the alien infestation and the heroic efforts of the courageous survivors have left rather a mess throughout the facility. As the janitor, it is your duty to get this place cleaned up.
So grab your mop and roll up your sleeves, this is gonna be one messy job.
Today, you're on Viscera Cleanup Detail!

Key Features

  • Janitorial Simulation - Step into the boots of a space-station sanitation technician and deal with the horrific aftermath of a sci-fi horror event. Blood, viscera, spent cartridges, worker bodies and other messes litter the facilities.
  • Clean - It's your job to clean up the mess, so clean it up you shall! Use your trusty mop, gloves, dispenser machines, plasma laser and sniffer tool to help you get all that blood out of the floor and off the ceiling! You can even try and punch-out if you think you've done your job.
  • Sandbox Gameplay - Don't want to clean? Just want to make more of a mess and play around with the physics? Go ahead! You can save your game as well; that's kind of us!
  • Multiplayer - Note: MP is still being worked out and may have issues still.
You can even enlist some friends/coworkers to come and help you clean up (or make even more mess).

Important:

Buying Viscera Cleanup Detail also gets you our spin-off titles, 'VCD: Shadow Warrior' and 'Santa's Rampage' free! And if you already own Santa's Rampage on Steam, you get a discount on this game!

If you and a group of your friends regularly play co-op games together, this is a must have for you (voice chat is a must). You've heard of first person shooter games? Well, folks, this is a first person cleaner game; the shooting has happened, the world is saved, and you are the janitorial staff tasked with cleanup. I have never hated saviors of mankind as much as I have while picking up their discarded ammo casings and fixing bullet holes in the walls.

Reasons why it's great for co-op:

1. The satisfaction you and your friends get when seeing actual progress in transforming the unique environment of the game you're playing. Seriously, this sounds weird, but we feel great seeing what we had to work with and what we made it into. I never expected to enjoy playing the game as much as I did and I was shocked at how much fun the friends I gave my four pack to liked it.

2. Hearing them argue about the best methods to dispose of a body (record for blackmail later!).

3. Seeing them walk into a room, look up, and exclaim, "Oh god...HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?!"

Early Access Tips:

Remember, if you play the game now, it's not going to be at its best. Early access means it's rough and there's definitely some code optimization and collision detection going on that can be frustrating (and sometimes funny as hell) to work with.

When hosting a game, it's a direct connect type. So make sure the person hosting has a pretty decent computer and a solid internet connection. If you can't connect to their sever, they may need to setup port forwarding. The ports used by this game are 7777 and 27015

If you get a "too many actors" error message on your server, it means there's too many unique items. This can happen from tracking too many player bloody footprints around. Happened a lot when we were doing a 4-man cleanup team. To solve this, have someone get rid of all the ammo casings on the ground (pick up and drop in the incinerator) and the rest of the group should focus on getting a specific area of floor clean. Of all blood and gore. To prevent this from happening (until it gets fixed) try making little clear footpaths to all the necessary machines (incinerator & bucket maker).

What the ♥♥♥♥ did you just ♥♥♥♥ing say about me, you little giblet? I’ll have you know I've been employee of the month over 300 times in the Space Janitors Program, and I’ve been involved in numerous top secret cleaning missions in Government Facilities, and have over 300 space mops. I am trained in overnight cleaning tactics and I’m the top janitor in the galaxy. You are nothing to me, nothing but a giblet in the toilet. I will clean the the ♥♥♥♥ out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before in this galaxy and the next, mark my ♥♥♥♥ing words. You think you can get away with saying that ♥♥♥♥ to me in the space station? Think again, ♥♥♥♥er. As we speak I am contacting my network of janitors across the Milky-way and your Janitorial ID is being traced right now so you better prepare for the cleaning, giblet. The Pine-sol storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your dirty little life. You’re gonna get ♥♥♥♥ing scrubbed, giblet. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can clean you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my space mop. Not only am I extensively trained in overnight cleaning operations, but I have access to the entire arsenal of mops in the Space Janitor Program and I will use it to its full extent to ♥♥♥♥♥ your miserable ♥♥♥ off the face of this space station, you little giblet. If only you could have known what sort deep cleaning your little “snide” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your ♥♥♥♥ing tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ giblet. I will clean you with so much oxy-clean, you will drown in it. Your dirty ♥♥♥ is gonna get tossed in the furnace, giblet.
