Om spillet

Deadfall Adventures is an action-driven first-person shooter, spiced up with elements from action-adventure games. Become an adventurer, hunt for treasures, explore unknown regions of the world and rescue the damsel in distress from the clutches of enemies, both earthly and not-so-earthly. Join James Lee Quatermain on his journey across the globe!

The Story

The year is 1938. James Lee Quatermain is a man of many talents, yet holding on to money isn't one of them. James is an adventurer by trade, just like his legendary great-grandfather Allan Quatermain. And he knows how to squeeze money out of this famous name of his, while at the same time despising it. Despising those who believe his great-grandfather's tales of the supernatural and those who make fun of them alike.

Accordingly, Quatermain isn't all too keen on escorting Jennifer Goodwin, an US agent and former colleague of his, to an Egyptian temple structure in order to retrieve an ancient artifact - The Heart of Atlantis. Neither does he believe in the reputed invigorating qualities of this artifact, nor does he care the least that a division of the Ahnenerbe, the Nazi department specialized in the occult, is after The Heart as well.

But life has its ways of changing one's perspective. Quatermain soon finds himself part of a hunt across the globe - from the stormy deserts of Egypt to the icy depths of the Arctic, and all the way to the steaming jungles of Guatemala. In long forgotten temple structures the thrill of the chase awakens the true adventurer in Quatermain, as he and agent Goodwin strive to be one step ahead of the Nazis and the Russians, one step closer to obtaining the Heart of Atlantis. And deep in these temples, where age-old guardians awake from their eternal slumber, James soon learns that his great-grandfather's stories are not as crazy as he had always believed. For all things live forever, though at times they sleep and are forgotten...

Deadfall Adventures is a good fun cool blend of adventure, FPS with a decent selection of puzzles. It's not a bad game by any means, but had so much potential to be great. If your looking for an Indiana Jones first person shooter look no further.

A good mix of adventure and action. Uncharted Series (PS3) only in FPS mode. Good tribute to Indiana Jones films and the like!

I wish I had better to say about this game. The puzzles are pretty interesting and there's a lot of good elements that kept me playing through to the end of the demo, but most of what I saw only reminded me of better games. Most egregiously, it straight-up stole the "boost your flashlight's beam to make supernatural enemies vulnerable to bullets" mechanic from Alan Wake. It's been a while since my reaction to something in a game was a flat "...♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥".

The gunplay felt ripped straight out of Call of Duty with the usual regnerating health, cover-based, two-weapons-only bag of tricks. The general setting of the game is an obvious homage to Indiana Jones that straddles the line between tribute and knockoff. There's a fair number of minor visual bugs mixed with a couple spots of lazy animation. In all it's interesting, but really only average. You could do much worse, but you could do much better.

In my honest opinion I think that Deadfall Adventures had everything it needed to be a success but it turned into a disaster. You can describe it as a First Person Shooter Indiana Jones or Uncharted. The game doesn't look that bad and the gameplay is somewhat decent but the more I played it the more I despised it. No matter what gun you use they all feel the same, there's barely any recoil on the guys and they're fairly standard, usual World War 2 weaponry, you can either fire from the hip or aim down sights and that's probably one of the things I less enjoy on a First Person Shooter. Not only to mention it has regenerating health which is something I really hate in games nowadays because you can just go hide behind cover and wait for you to recover full health. The game is extremely linear but it does reward exploration by finding treasure which you can then spend upgrading your health, health regeneration, decreasing weapon spread and recoil etc. The game has some interesting design choices to it such as the use of the compass to find hidden treasure and the ocasional treasure maps you come across on each level, ocasionally you'll come across some puzzle sections in temples that do provide a varied and different experience from the rest of the game and the only help you have to beat them is your notebook, this was probably for me the only strong point of the game. Story wise it's kinda okay, the voice acting is pretty much terrible but it ocasionaly has some humour on the writing. There's also no save feature, only checkpoints which might upset some people, such as me. Overall, considering it's price I don't think Deadfall Adventures is a game you should be looking foward to, it's also worth mentioning it costs 40€ for europeans while it also costs $40 for people from North America which it's a considerable price difference. I'd recommend avoiding it, if you're eager to try it out you might want to wait for a heavy discount.

Mediocre, feels like a lowbudget title wrapped in AAA ♥♥♥♥; could have been much more but the terrible voiceover, clumsy and dull shooting, multitude of cliches and generic characters, boring puzzles makes it forgettable as soon as you finish it. The locations and the theme of the game are the only real positive things.

Yes, after a looooong time I just thought that this game deserves a small recommendation / review!

This game is one of my longest dreams that came through. A game where you can be a true adventurer as the famous Quatermain (or Indiana Jones if you want) and this in a Ego-Shooter. What the ♥♥♥♥; is that kinda cool? Really? Adventuring in a Ego-Shooter?
YES, that is possible. The Farm 51 developing team has made a great game with that. You have brilliant graphic moments (Unreal Engine 3), but of course there are also some bad graphics in there. But hey, nevermind. The important part is that you have really AWESOME PUZZLE moments here. Some of 'em are tricky, lots of 'em are "normal" but funny. The dialogs between James Quatermain and Jennifer Goodwin (your female partner) are funny and make you feel you're just right here - within the awesome temples and pyramids. ;)
So, if you love lots of puzzles, adventuring and of course Ego-Shooter then you have to try this game. :)

Pros:
» lots of puzzles (easy and hard / before you can choose the difficulty for puzzles)
» awesome atrmosphere with pyramids, temples and other "Egypt stuff"
» nice graphics with the Unreal Engine 3 - the most time
» funny dialogs
» well-done mixture of adventuring and Ego-Shooter
» long-driven story ( I played the whole game with adventuring moments 17 hours^^)

Cons:
» shooting moments are boring and not challenging
» some graphics bugs
» at the beginning the controls are a bit complicated
» The multiplayer part is a waste of time

Tell me what you think about this game if finished! :)
