About This Game

BANGQUET is a turn-based bluffing game for 2 to 4 players, played solo against bots or online with friends. Everyone sits around a crate of wrapped parcels and takes turns opening one, and only the person who opens a parcel sees what’s inside. Most hold gear you can use later. One is a live grenade, and opening it without a sandbag in your pack kills you. The last player alive wins.

The guns

Everyone has a revolver, and nobody can see how many bullets the others are carrying. You can’t shoot a player whenever you like. Instead you aim at them and order them to open the next parcel, hand over an item or sit out a turn. If your scope has shown you the grenade on top of the crate, you can order a rival to open it without firing a shot

They can give in, jam your gun if they have a jam, or call your bluff. When a bluff is called you can shoot them, provided you have a bullet, or back down and keep your turn. Aiming also leaves you exposed, because your own jam and vest stop working until your next turn.

Every blast puts a new grenade back in the crate, and the odds of drawing it climb as the crate empties.

Single-player

A run is one night of five tables against bots. Each table costs money to sit at and the winner takes the pot. Dying ends the night unless you’re carrying the spare mask.

That mask is one of 16 keepsakes. After each win you choose one to carry for the rest of the night, and you can hold four at a time. Hollow points go through vests, for example, and a spyglass lets your scope see the top two parcels.

Between most tables you choose which one to play next, and once a night you can spend your money in the back room.

The last table is the host’s, where each rival carries a keepsake too.

Playing earns marks, which unlock new parcels for the crate and new clothes for your character. There’s also a daily table, dealt the same way for every player.

Online

Up to four people can play through Steam invites, and the host can fill empty chairs with bots. Your character’s clothes come with you. If the host leaves mid-game, the next player to have joined takes over the table and the hand carries on.
