What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Given the goals of the project and the time needed to fully realize them, it makes sense to bring the community into the process. We want to ensure that we’re keeping actual gamers in mind every step of the way. With the ability to continuously add game modes and features, having an active player base testing and providing feedback is crucial. Ultimately, this will lead to a more consumer-focused product.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are anticipating Exfil to launch in Early Access in late 2024”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will include a wider variety of maps and additional game modes. We’re also planning to add AI, and a full fledged scenario editor.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“EXFIL is already highly playable, featuring two PvP-focused game modes and five maps for multiplayer. With both self-hosted and dedicated server options, you’ll always have access to the action.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We expect a price increase of approximately 25% once the game leaves Early Access and is fully launched.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We’ve launched a Discord server to gather direct feedback and bug reports. Players can join the conversation and contribute to the game's development. See social links for details.”

About This Game

EXFIL is a tactical first-person shooter that empowers players with sandbox game modes and the tools to play the way they want. With an active Discord server boasting over 3,000 members, we've established a space where feedback is actively sought and implemented.

As a small team of three core developers, we aim to continue to tap into our community’s creativity and feedback. Our game will enable players to craft new game modes, scenarios, and unique experiences. Whether it's competitive PvP, cooperative challenges, or dynamic PvE missions, we want to give players the freedom to think outside the box and shape their gameplay in ways that push the boundaries of traditional shooters.

Early Access allows us to gather crucial resources, grow our supportive community, and refine our feature wishlist.

To kick things off -- Our Early Access version of EXFIL centers on one of two extraction-style game modes. This showcases core mechanics, and the gameplay we’re striving for, highlighting our commitment to delivering on our promises—something that Early Access games often struggle with.

  • Classic Extraction: The signature EXFIL experience. Teams race toward a common target, fighting to extract with the intel. Only one team gets out alive.

  • Rogue Extraction: An intense, asymmetrical, high-stakes cat-and-mouse mode. A small team of rogue operatives start with valuable intel and must outmaneuver a large opposing force to escape. One wrong move could be their last.

We’re not stopping there either!

We’re also building a full scenario editor that’s going to put you in the driver’s seat. You’ll be able to tweak game rules, craft new challenges, or design entire scenarios from scratch. It’s all about giving you the freedom to create the experience you want.

Dynamic Maps, weather, and time-of-day:

We’ve got five massive handcrafted maps, a 24hr day/night cycle, and a fully simulated weather system. Whether it’s rain, fog, or even sandstorms, you’ll need to adapt on the fly– meaning no two matches are ever the same! Each map brings something different to the table, with dense forests, industrial zones, military camps, and more.

⦁ North Woods

⦁ Port Lobos

⦁ Camp Osprey

⦁ Mologa District

⦁ New- Renegade Oil

Fully Simulated Bullet Physics, Penetration, and Armor: We’ve gone all out on the realism front. Every shot in EXFIL is calculated—bullet drop, velocity, and trajectory all factor in, and bullets interact with not just the environment but player armor as well. They’ll penetrate or ricochet off surfaces based on thickness and material, meaning you’ll need to think about your surroundings, giving every firefight a whole new level of strategy

⦁ Weapon Arsenal: Our growing arsenal has you covered, whether you prefer precision or firepower. We’ve got a range of primary and secondary weapons, throwables, deployable traps, and night vision gear. And we’re just getting started! New weapons, gear, and traps are on the way, including snipers, shotguns, and SMGs—so stay tuned

⦁ Self-Hosted Servers and Dedicated Hosting Options: Self-hosted servers let you set the rules and create the gameplay experience you want. Prefer something more long-term? We’ve got dedicated hosting options too—same customization, with added stability.

⦁ Our built-in VOIP is ready for action!: Providing each team with dedicated voip to enhance tactical gameplay. But watch out! You’ll need to stay vigilant–Proximity voice chat is active. Remember to keep an eye (and ear) out for any enemies eavesdropping!

⦁ Comprehensive round tracking: The three core pillars of milsim are "preparation, execution, and assessment." In EXFIL, our match tracking goes above and beyond—making every hit, miss, shot, and step visible after the match. Review missions in the lobby using our after-action event log, replay timeline, and combat log to analyze every detail with your team

⦁ Always expanding admin customization options:

Toggleable tactical ping.
Toggleable Name tags.
Weather, time of day and time of year.
Toggleable Hi/Low visibility uniforms.
Player seeking mortars.
Spectator freelook.

And more to come!

The future’s bright for EXFIL. As a self-funded team, we're committed to continuously developing new features, no matter the revenue from Steam. Over the next 12-18 months, our goal is to collaborate closely with the community to expand our toolset with even more unique features.

Some "Coming Soon" features include but are not limited to:

Scenario Editor: Create and share your own PvE missions, asymmetric PvP game modes, AI sieges, and more. We can’t wait to see what the community comes up with!

NPCs: We are eager to add NPC as a local opposition force that gamers can encounter in the world.

Localizations: Adding language support, including but not limited to Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Spanish, Filipino, German and French.

Slot Inventory: We aim to enhance the "build your own adventure" aspect of kits and roles by introducing a slot-based inventory system. This system will allow players to configure their loadouts in-game, utilizing an Armory or similar mechanic.

Global Stats tracking: A global stats dashboard to track various metrics, including preferred weapons, factions, game modes, hit percentage, and other detailed MilSim statistics across a user's entire EXFIL career.
