What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“PC Building Simulator is nearly feature complete however the process of creating accurate models of real hardware and implementing them into the game is a long one. We currently have a wide range of hardware we still need to integrate into the game so we plan to use Early Access to continue to expand the range of playable hardware while also incorporating any feedback from the community on existing features of the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are looking to have a short period in Early Access, around 2-3 months depending on feedback from the community.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During Early Access we will be adding a few more features, but mostly it will be about adding more hardware to build with, our shortlist of things to add before we exit Early Access is:

  • Water Cooling
  • Overclocking
  • More licensed components
  • Fully localised into select languages
  • More benchmarking options
  • More job types in career mode

For more information on future features, please check our public roadmap here:

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“When PC Building Simulator launches into Early Access we aim for it to be mostly feature complete and as polished as possible. During Early Access players will have access to:

  • A wide range of fully licensed PC hardware to build with, PC’s can be constructed and powered on to a (simulated) working operating system and include a range of simulated programs from benchmarking (including 3DMark) to control of any RGB lighting in the system.
  • ‘Career Mode’ with multiple job types from a range of customer types.
  • Free Build’ mode that allows players to experiment with any available parts currently in the game without any career mode restrictions.
  • ‘How to Build a PC’ mode to teach players how a PC goes together.
  • Game tutorial for new players.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“There are no plans to raise the price after we exit early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Real-world PC building is a passion for so many people that we are keen to learn from our players what features we should be concentrating on to make sure PC Building Simulator is as accurate (and as fun) as possible.
Being a small team with a complex simulator it is important that we engage with our community so we can make the best decisions for the game going forward.”

PC Building Simulator Update v0.8.2 - A case full of bug fixes!

Hello PC Builders,

This weeks update is mostly to fix various issues that have been found since the previous update while we continue development work on further career improvements and the overclocking feature. We get asked alot when overclocking is coming, but it is going to be a few weeks yet due to the work involved so please be patient.

Build v0.8.2 Patch Notes

New Parts

NZXT S340 Elite (White)
We got a lot of requests for the white version of the S340 Elite after our last update so here it is!

EVGA SuperNOVA 1200 P2, 80+ PLATINUM (PSU)

EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2, 80+ GOLD (PSU)

  • Save games can now be named.
  • Improved RAM compatibility; in preparation for overclocking, RAM now requires similar sticks in a machine to be matched.
  • GPU thermal shut-off temperature has been raised, this should reduce the amount of blue screen errors relating to overheating GPU’s.
  • Added a Restart option to the OS start menu.
  • Cable connection points that cannot be connected for some reason now highlight in Red.
  • Diagnose and Repair jobs now require replaced parts to be similar to the ones that were broken.
  • Fixed PSU fans no longer spinning.
  • Fixed the duplication issue on the PCI lock of the SilverStone PS14.
  • Fixed the issue with Build job post-it notes vanishing when transferring them from bench to bench.
  • Fixed some SATA connections not being connected to the actual motherboard.
  • Fixed the alignment issues for Water Coolers on the CORSAIR Crystal Series 570X RGB case.
  • Fixed the issue with the fan being inside the Cryorig C1 CPU cooler.
  • Fixed not being able to install the lower front case fan on the Antec DF500 when you had a Water Cooler installed in the rear slot.
  • Fixed an issue with PCI slot covers on the Cooler Master H500P case being out of line with second GPU installs.
  • Fixed various save game issues reported by players since the last update, these saves should now load with this update.

What’s Next?

As mentioned at the start of these notes work has begun on the overclocking feature, alongside this we are working on further career objectives to support features already released such as Dual GPUs and Water Cooling and even adding some more storyline missions!

There is lots of exciting things coming for PC Building Simulator in the coming months, I just wish I could say more!

Happy Building!

PC Building Simulator Update v0.8.1.1 - An apology, new parts and a bunch of fixes!

Hello PC Builders,

Apologies for the bugs some players have been experiencing since the big update last week, while we knew we had made some big changes to the game some of these issues we just never saw coming. Thanks to everyone who sent in save games and log files, as these have helped us fix up many of the issues for today's update.

The update today contains the following…

Build v0.8.1.1 Highlights

Save Game Improvements
To try and improve save game stability between versions and allow us to better diagnose save issues we have made some adjustments to the save game system:
  • A backup version of your save game is created when a new version of the game is detected - these won’t be visible in the save menu but will exist in the saves folder.
  • If an error occurs during loading a save game you will now receive a message telling you this (and stopping you from going any further) rather than allowing you to continue as normal and it being rewritten by autosave - this means when you send us a save game we can see the error being generated without the risk of it being lost due to being saved over.

CPU Air Cooler Rotation
Eagle eyed players may have noticed in pre-release videos there was an option to pick the orientation of an air cooler when installing on a CPU. This was disabled ahead of launch but has now been re-enabled to allow for further feedback and testing as we get quite a few requests about this!

New Parts

EVGA AIO Water Coolers
The EVGA CLC 120, 240 and 280 are now available to include in your builds!

Cryorig AIO Water Coolers
From Cryorig this update includes their A40, A40 Ultimate and A80 AIO coolers.

SilverStone Water Coolers
The TD03-LITE, TD03-SLIM, TD02-LITE and TD02-SLIM AIO coolers from SilverStone’s Tundra series are now available to build with.

Raijintek ORCUS 240 Water Cooler
If you like your RGB on your AIO coolers then the ORCUS 240 is going to be a must have in any build!

Raijintek IRIS 12 Case Fan
The 120mm IRIS 12 case fan includes full RGB support and pairs nicely with the ORCUS 240!

NZXT S340 Elite Case
Until now only the Hyper Beast version of the S340 Elite existed in the game but from today you will be able to build with the standard version in its Black, Black + Blue and Black + Red options.

Spanish Language Support
With today's update we have added support for Spanish, we appreciate the Spanish community's patience on this!

Full Patch Notes:

  • Save game handling changes.
  • Enabled CPU Air Cooler orientation option.
  • New AIO Water Coolers from EVGA, Cryorig, SilverStone and Raijintek.
  • New Case - NZXT S340 Elite.
  • New Case Fan - Raijintek IRIS 12.
  • Spanish language support added.
  • You can now remove a Build job post-it from a PC and reassign it.
  • Mouse buttons can now be bound in the Key Binding menu.
  • Adjusted pricing of the Ryzen CPUs.
  • Updated the Raijintek Paean storage slots so that you can install both HDDs and SSDs.
  • Adjusted heat data to allow for differences between air and water cooling.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the players to fall out of the workshop, if you have a save game that has this issue you should be reset back inside when you next load.
  • Fixed the issue where the Intel 7700 wasn’t being verified as good enough against itself in the Will it Run app.
  • Fixed an issue where a PC could drop through the desk to the floor and allow duplication of that PC.
  • Fixed some GPU’s being powered even without their cables attached.
  • Fixed Water Cooler installation so that they can no longer be installed when the CPU caddy is still open.
  • Fixed an issue with the SATA cables on the Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3 facing the wrong way and going through the board.
  • Fixed the rear fans on the SilverStone PS14 installing in the wrong direction.
  • Fixed the Cooler Master H500P not coming with its front fans.
  • Fixed the CORSAIR Crystal Series 570X RGB not coming with its front fans.
  • Fixed a few cables having the wrong picture and text in the shop and inventory.
  • Fixed an issue with the SilverStone PS14 breaking build jobs.
  • Fixed the DVD drive bay being required to complete a SilverStone PS14 build.
  • Fixed an alignment issue on the In Win 303-MSI Dragon Edition when installing the SilverStone NJ520 PSU.
  • Fixed an issue where you could enter higher than supported values in the lighting app to make your PC look nuclear!
  • Fixed an issue on the In Win 303-MSI Dragon Edition case that allowed you to install Water Coolers on the bottom of the case.
  • Fixed Thermal Paste being in the wrong location on the Intel 7700 CPU.
Please continue to post any issues you find or features you want in the forums, all feedback is incredibly useful.

Happy Building!
