What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early access provides the opportunity to develop the final stages of our game with the inclusion of the community as an important component in the process. This allows us to receive feedback, suggestions, and address concerns so that we may develop the best possible experience for everyone.

There are still numerous features we plan on implementing and our goal is to include the community in shaping them each step of the way; allowing us to expand Capsa beyond just our own ideas and expectations.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate leaving Early Access during 2019.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We are planning on incorporating new vehicles (land, sea and air) as well as expanding the game with minigames and activities.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Capsa currently features:
  • Large scale open world (~>10km islands combined landmass in tropical atoll with 20km total area)
  • Advanced character customization, featuring full facial shaping and clothing options.
  • Basic home customization.
  • Fun customizable pets, which include clothing options.
  • In home synchronized media streaming for audio and videos (direct url, e.g. mp4 / mp3 file etc.)
  • Player hosted dedicated servers with array of configuration options including privacy
  • Dance animations and Club areas featuring in-game music streaming.
  • Basic in-game text chat
  • Dynamic day/night cycle
  • Full gamepad support

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will not change during early access (except during sales) with the expection that Capsa will be Free-To-Play.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Regular engagement on the Steam discussion forums in which we welcome the contribution of ideas and listening to any concerns players have as well as conducting frequent Q&A’s.”

January 8

This update is primarly core improvements and optimizations. One of the new features in this update is the new interaction system that will view on screen the key to press when looking at an interactable object. It also allows you to specify which object to interact with (e.g. different seats) based on what you are looking at. This works in combination with the previous system, so you can still interact with closest object in valid range when not looking at anything specific.

Other changes are some improvements to world lighting at various times of day and various logic improvements to the home photo system which should fix various issues there.

Patch Notes:

  • Fixed an issue relating to the Mako Seats.

  • Fixed an issue with world brightness, notably effecting wide open spaces and with character shading.
  • Fixed collision on some concrete pipes.
  • Fixed some terrain painting near Pitonga.
  • Removed DFAO from cinematic options as no longer needed (base graphics were improved a while ago).

  • Added new interaction system that allows the player to look at specific interactable objects (e.g. vehicles, seats) and see on-screen the key to press to interact. You can also look directly at the seat you wish to sit in, rather than sit in the closest. This works in combination with the previous system, so even when you don't look directly at an object you can just interact with closest by default for convience.
  • Added various texture memory optimizations, this will also reduce installation size.
  • Fixed an issue where right clicking in radial menu would get you stuck.
  • Fixed an issue where character camera can zoom in too far and get stuck due to a combination of events involving leaving a vehicle and specific saved camera states.
  • Fixed various issues with the home picture applier.
  • Fixed an issue relating to the headlights on the scorpion buggy.
