About This Game

Groceries wake up in a human kitchen, and tonight the food wants to live. A sausage, a cheese wedge, a milk carton, a potato, a bun and a carrot have one job: get out of the house before the Chef turns them into dinner.

Escape together

Every way out is a co-op physics puzzle. Carry a hammer to the window, hunt for keys, bounce the toilet handle. Nobody gets out alone, so grab, throw, boost and stack each other until it works.

Mind the Chef

The Chef rules this kitchen. Hold still and he won't spot you. Move, or knock a pan off the counter, and he comes looking.

Caught? Not over yet

If he grabs you, it's off to the cutting board. One friend hits him with something heavy, another drags you away. Too slow, and you come back as a ghost who can still help the team.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Best Before is a cartoon comedy starring living groceries. When the Chef catches one, he carries it to his cutting board and chops it with a cleaver while it screams. Cartoon juice sprays (red, white or yellow, depending on the food), and a grocery can be cut in two unless a teammate rescues it in time. The groceries fight back the Chef with thrown objects, pepper and slippery floors. No human is ever hurt or shown bleeding. The Chef is meant to be a little scary, and his grabs come suddenly. An option in Settings replaces the juice with sparkles. There is no sexual content, drug use or self-harm.
