What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The Further is already fully playable, alone or with up to three friends. We want to finish it together with you: how scary is it, how hard are the entities, which gear is missing? Your feedback decides what we improve next.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to stay in Early Access for about 3 to 6 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan more houses and cases, new entities and scares, more equipment, translations into more languages, and improvements to graphics, balance and performance. What exactly comes also depends on your feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is playable from start to finish: take jobs in the office, drive the van to the house, investigate, name the entity and drive it out or set it free. Online co-op for up to four players, a possessed mode, progression, daily tasks and 28 Steam achievements are included. There may still be bugs, and some parts are not fully polished yet.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No. The price stays the same in Early Access and in the full version.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We read the Steam discussions and reviews, answer questions and collect suggestions and bug reports. Regular updates show what we have changed based on your feedback.”

About This Game

One job. One house. Something that won't leave.

The 1970s. A family has called your small investigation office because something is wrong in their house. You load the van, drive out into the night and step into a house where someone is already waiting for you.

The Further is a co-op horror game for up to four players. Explore dark houses, gather clues, find out who you are dealing with, and in the end decide how it ends.

Investigate the old way

  • Real 70s gear: EMF meter, thermometer, spirit box, UV lamp, camera, motion sensors, salt, crucifix and walkie-talkies.
  • Talk to it: Over the radio and your microphone the entity answers. Sometimes it whispers the letters of its name.
  • Case file: Every clue goes into your file. Who was she? What happened in this house?

Every night is different

  • Changing houses: Rooms, furniture and hiding spots are arranged differently every time.
  • Changing entities: Weak or nearly unstoppable, each with its own habits, moods and attacks.
  • Scares that get you: Figures in the hall, red eyes in the mirror, footsteps behind you, a door that opens by itself.

Drive it out or set it free

Once you know enough, you face a choice: drive the entity out in a ritual or release the soul that cannot leave. Either can go wrong.

Together, or not at all

  • Proximity voice chat: Wander too far and you can only be heard over the radio.
  • Hunts: When it hunts, run, hide, hold your breath.
  • Death is not the end: As a ghost you can keep walking the house and give the living signs.
  • Possessed mode: One of you secretly plays for the other side.

Your office

Between jobs you return to the office: buy and upgrade gear, level up, complete daily tasks and watch your statistics grow.

Headphones and a microphone recommended.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some 3D models, sound effects and voices, as well as the store and achievement artwork, were created with the help of generative AI tools and then selected, edited and put together by our team. No AI is used while you play.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Supernatural horror with frightening scenes and jump scares. The entity can attack and kill investigators, and their bodies remain lying in the house. Demonic figures, an exorcism ritual with a pentagram, and the possession of a player. No blood or gore.
