About This Game

I love card-based autobattlers and gothic creatures and settings, so I decided to make a game that combines both.

A run starts with a choice of six heroes, two from each faction, and every hero has a power of their own. For example, Garrick Holt sends his Werekin into a frenzy as they transform, and Lisette Vane makes the enemy's hardest hitter transform 7 seconds late. Win ten duels against other players' boards before your lives run out.

  • Every fight changes at midnight, when werewolves and vampires take their night forms
  • Three factions and six heroes at launch, with 150 allies and more than 300 items
  • Fight other players' saved boards with no queues or timers, and replay every fight when it ends
  • Runs of about an hour that you can quit and resume any time
  • No paid heroes or modes; two more factions and new cards are coming as free updates

A fight lasts one in-game day. Midnight comes at 12 seconds, and from dawn at 24 seconds the sun damages both heroes until one of them falls. When the bell rings, Werekin take their animal forms and Vampyr wardens give way to the vampire lords and ladies they serve. The Jaeger faction features human monster hunters who don't transform but instead exploit the weaknesses of the creatures they hunt.

  • Werekin become wolves, bears, boars, stags and crows. Pack allies grow stronger for every transformed Werekin beside them.
  • Vampyr wardens store blood from every hit for their masters to feast on.
  • Jaeger are human hunters who never transform. Their hits study enemy monsters, and a monster they have studied five times is staked the moment it transforms.
  • Ghastly are the drowned and the hanged. They freeze enemy cards in place, and when they fade they rise again 3 seconds later. (Coming post-launch)
  • Magus witches store magic by day and burn it in a blazing form at night. When the magic runs out they collapse until they recharge. (Coming post-launch)

Between fights you choose which doors to open: a merchant, a hunt, a rite at the altar or a bargain in the crypt. Two copies of a card combine into a higher tier. Build around bleed that never wears off, crits that deal triple damage to transformed monsters, or shields and lifesteal that keep your hero standing.

When your hero levels up you swear an Oath that changes how your board fights. Lose or draw a duel and you pick a Scar for one of your allies to keep for the rest of the run. Every Scar has one upside and one downside, and some Werekin grow tougher the more Scars your board has.

Alternate looks and full-art versions of your allies unlock as you play. Collect them all!
