About This Game

You've just inherited your grandparents' old apothecary, along with a few thousand potions scattered all over the workshop. Now it’s up to you to sort and organize the lot, one shelf at a time. Restore the apothecary to its former glory, at your own pace.

A Closer Look

You can pick up any bottle and turn it over up close. Every potion is filled with liquid that moves with the bottle dynamically as you move it, toss it, or shake it. Some potions come as vials, others will be in bottles of all shapes and colors.

Most potions you will recognize by name pretty quickly, but some of the older labels have faded enough that you will have to do a little more deduction to find the right shelf. (Hint: the color of the liquid is often a good place to start).

A Day’s Work

Grab a few bottles and find where they go, or fill a crate and take a whole load with you. There are more than 20 categories of potions to discover, from Healing and Fortune to Flight and Poison. For the shelves you can’t reach, there’s a rolling ladder (and yes, you can ride it along the wall). When a shelf is complete, it lights up. To keep track of it all, you can press a shelf's seal onto a bottle's label as a reminder, and come back to it later.

Settle In

Potion Pantry is a sorting game, yes, but the apothecary is also a space to relax.

Light the fire, or a few candles, and cozy up the place. Lean back and enjoy the sound of rain hitting the windows, or birdsong drifting in from outside. I spent a lot of time on the small sounds, like the clink when you set a bottle down on a wooden shelf, to make the apothecary feel like an oasis you can relax in.

Sort at Your Own Pace

There’s no timer and no way to fail. Placing a bottle on the correct shelf, and completing a row, earns essence, which you can spend on upgrades like more carry capacity or better ways to keep track of your progress, but nothing in the game will do the sorting for you.
