What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Catacomb is a passion project of mine, and I want it to be the best that it can be. Early Access lets me be more flexible with content updates and lets me be more transparent with all of you! It also lets me get on top of any issues that the game might have, whether it be something balance-related or even accessibility options.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I hope to have Catacomb complete by Summer 2027, meaning that the main rogue-like mode will have all areas, weapons, artifacts, enemies and encounters implemented, and for the game's story to be complete. After release I still plan on updating the game, but no additional content is planned to be added afterwards.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full release is planned to feature a fully complete roguelike gameplay loop, with a story and lore surrounding your circumstances.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game currently contains only a small fraction of the content I have planned, but all of the frameworks I built for the game are complete; nothing under-the-hood should change significantly during development.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan on raising the price slightly after the Early Access period to properly reflect the amount of content in the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'm open to all constructive feedback, and I'm super open-minded to feature suggestions and balance changes. You can post a Steam discussion or join my discord server to get more involved with the game's development!”

About This Game

Catacomb is a hardcore, melee-focused FPS roguelike inspired by the greats of the early 2000's. Using only your wits, your blade, and over 40 unique artifacts, hack and slash your way back to the surface and earn your freedom.

COMBAT

Catacomb features 5 weapons, with more coming:

  • Shortsword - a basic but balanced melee option, able to parry enemy attacks

  • Dagger - Weak for direct combat, but backstabs make stealth viable

  • Crossbow - A ranged dominator with limited ammo

  • Tomahawks - Throwing axes that bounce off enemies and walls

  • Greatsword - Devastating, sweeping blows but lost mobility

Alongside these options, you can also punch, kick, stomp, and ram through enemies (with the right artifact, of course.)

EXPLORATION

Catacomb will feature 4 unique areas, each with their own loot pools and varied areas to traverse through.

Currently, Area 1 is complete:

  • THE CRYPT

The first step on your climb to the surface, and the darkest. Dingy, stone-brick halls, walls caving in on themselves, and crawling with ghouls and skeletons. 20 unique rooms, 5 area-specific artifacts.

ARTIFACTS

Artifacts are the building blocks that shape your run: They can augment your body, give you new abilities, and some can even alter the world around you. Choose wisely; though, almost all of them have drawbacks.
