Can You Survive the Night in the Worst Place in America?

Hell Hospital is a first person horror adventure inspired by System Shock and Bioshock, with immersive sim gameplay, interactable environments, a wide arsenal of melee, ranged, and unique weaponry, as well as an assortment of experimental drugs to take to enhance your abilities. Set in an old Kirkbride mental hospital in the White Mountains of New England in the 1960s, you play as Catherine, a woman who is a taken to Robynsville State Hospital to treat her postpartum. Once there, you are put in a medically-induced coma, and awaken five months later on New Years Day to discover that the entire hospital has been overrun by mental patients who have been turned into violent, genetically altered mutants. To survive the night, you must kill or be killed, with whatever you can find, and inject yourself with experimental drugs to push your body and mind to the limits.

What Awaits You:

• Gameplay inspired by System Shock and Bioshock, as well as classic survival horror games, with an aesthetic inspired by late 90s PC gaming.

• A gore system inspired by Raven Software's GHOUL system used in the Soldier of Fortune games, with eleven different "gore zones" and 30 unique animations that play depending on what part of the body an enemy is hit. Shoot or chop off enemy body parts and watch them react in horror.

• Electrocute enemies. Freeze enemies with liquid nitrogen and shatter them into pieces. Light enemies on fire and watch them run around screaming. Poison enemies and watch them puke their literal guts out before dying. Blow enemies up and watch their body parts gib and bounce all over the place.

• Melee combat with numerous tools, and ranged combat with all sorts of firearms, along with more "experimental" weaponry

• Lockpicking, hacking, destructible doors, multiple paths around levels. Lockpick shortcuts, blow up or chop down doors to get somewhere you wouldn't think of to go. Hack security cameras and laser grids, or turrets to make them your allies. Go in killing everything in sight or stick to the shadows and sneak around your enemies with both lethal and non-lethal options. The gameplay of Hell Hospital is all about player expression in a world of madness and violence: what kind of character do YOU imagine Catherine to be?

• A grid inventory system inspired by Deus Ex and the System Shock remake, with a robust inventory management; drop and store items anywhere, assign hotkeys, arrange your inventory in a way that is most comfortable and serviceable for the horrors that await you.

• A drug system where you can enhance your melee, ranged, agility, defense, non-lethal and stealth attributes. Mix and match the drugs you take to find your playstyle, but watch your drug intake, or you just might overdose and die.

• Weapon degradation and firearm maintenance. 

• An atmospheric and spooky mental hospital carefully modeled after old Kirkbride mental hospitals from the 1800s.

• An in-depth narrative inspired by real history, told through audio diaries, with a wide array of excellent voice performances from Gianni Matragrano, Abi Adair, Evan Maple, Wes Wiggins, Zane Schacht, Ashley Quills, Luna Arcana, and many more. Robynsville State Hospital will become a staging ground for the direction of the Cold War for the rest of the 20th century.

This game has a realistic setting inspired by historical events, including MKULTRA, the Cold War, and war crimes. It also features the use of tobacco and alcohol, as well as barbiturates. There is a frequent use of fictitious "drug" power ups that are applied intravenously. Violence would be considered extreme and at times cruel, with frequent dismemberment and other types of gore. Sexual content is very mild, at times only comical, with no explicit nudity, and zero visual instances of sexual violence.
