About This Game

Eternally is a dark fantasy tactical RPG where every attack is a dice roll on a hex grid. Build one of four Eternals from 260+ skills, then take them into an eight-chapter campaign alone, online with up to three friends, or with one friend on the same PC.

Build it your way

  • 260+ skills across 17 skill trees

  • About a third of an Eternal's skills fit in one campaign

  • 15 ways to make up your party

A campaign gives you about 28 skill points. Learning everything one Eternal has costs more than 80, so every point is a choice. You can't learn it all in one run.

  • Choices that stick. Some skills lock each other out, and you get one respec per playthrough.

  • Skills earned in battle. Five skills unlock through deeds in a fight. Synn only learns Possess after 15 mind controls.

  • Every run shifts. Elites roll random affixes, and loot, salvage and dice are random too.

Four Eternals

Each Eternal has four skill trees of their own, and all four share a fifth.

  • Ara the Geomancer. Ricochet pebble shots at range, a pebble shield up close, and Roki, a sentient pebble that grows with her. At higher levels she flies over the front line.

  • Frazzah the Cryomancer Knight. Build him as a pure swordmaster, or as a cryomancer with up to seven ice clones.

  • Morrathil, the Wrath of the Forest. Spreads plague and blight, and raises an undead treant that evolves in stages.

  • Synn, the Leviathan's Daughter. Moves through stealth and mist, turns enemies against their own side, and can possess them outright.

Heroes that work together

  • Synn's Drenched makes Frazzah's Frozen harder to break.

  • Frazzah's Chilled makes Morrathil's Rooted harder to escape.

  • Frazzah's Thrust pierces deeper into any stunned enemy.

  • Roki's Sandworn makes a target take more damage from every source.

  • Psychic Haste gives a friend extra actions and movement. Cleansing Rain cures Bleeding, Poisoned and Burned.

Gear, ground and monsters

  • 66 handcrafted items. Each has a fixed effect. Reset every cooldown with the Chronosphere, or rise again with the Crown of the Undying.

  • The Blacksmith. Epics never drop. You forge all 16, including a Cinderscale Egg that hatches a Black Dragon ally.

  • Legacy Relics. Each Eternal earns a relic that reshapes their signature skills, then forges it into an Epic one.

  • 11 terrain types. Lava burns, snow chills you until you freeze, and some skills reshape the map mid-fight.

  • 20 conditions. Stunned, Horrified, Burned, Poisoned, Hasted and more. Drenched puts out Burned, and Chilled stacks into Frozen.

  • 20+ kinds of monster. They flank, focus fire and stalk from stealth, led by demon commanders Vexaroth and Baron Valdris.

  • 17 elite affixes. Elites roll random affixes like Impervious, Regenerative, Venomous and Fireborn.

On the battlefield

  • Move, then act. Moving never costs an action. Engagement and attacks of opportunity reward careful positioning.

  • Shimmer. Gather it from the world and from fallen monsters. When a die misses, spend it and the die lands on its best result.

  • Stealth. Contested dice rolls decide who gets seen. Strike from stealth for extra true damage.

  • Sight and fog of war. Creatures and walls block shots, and you only see what your team sees.

Ways to play

  • An eight-chapter campaign. About 6 to 8 hours, plus a tutorial. Each chapter has its own objective, from clearing the field to getting villagers to safety.

  • Online co-op. Up to 4 players over Steam. Monsters scale with your party, and a fallen Eternal gets back up after two rounds.

  • Local co-op. 2 players on one PC, through the whole campaign. Steam Remote Play Together works too.

  • PvP. Capture the Box in 1v1 or 2v2, or Judgement Hill, a deathmatch for up to four sides, free-for-all or in teams, where the first to the kill target wins.

  • Controller support. The whole game works on a pad, with Xbox or PlayStation button prompts.

  • The little things. Mid-level checkpoints, Steam Cloud saves, 23 achievements, a damage breakdown for every hit, and one key to repeat your last ability.

How it started

Eternally started three years ago as a question: what would a PvP RPG look like if it played like a board game, for 2 to 4 players? Then the playtesters kept teaming up. So co-op grew into a full campaign, and PvP stayed in as its own mode.

I've put my heart and soul into this game. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I've enjoyed making it.
