Eternally End User License Agreement and Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 June 2026

This document covers the licence to use Eternally and how the game handles your data. The Steam Subscriber Agreement also applies and is not replaced by anything written here.

1. Licence

You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Eternally for personal entertainment. You may not:

  • redistribute, sell, or sublicense the game or any part of it
  • reverse engineer or decompile the game, except where the law allows it
  • use the game's art, audio, or code outside of in-game play
  • use the game to harass other players or break Steam's community rules

The game, its art, audio, code, and written content are owned by <Your Studio Name>. Steam manages your account and your save progress on its platform.

2. Crash and error reports (optional, on by default)

We use Sentry (sentry.io, operated by Functional Software, Inc.) as a data processor to receive crash reports and error logs.

Each report may include:

  • game version, build edition (demo or full), platform, and OS version
  • stack traces from the error
  • a short trail of recent in-game log lines preceding the error
  • approximate region (derived from IP at ingest, then discarded by Sentry)

Reports do not include your Steam account name or Steam ID. We filter these from outgoing data before it leaves your machine.

Data is processed in the EU (Sentry Frankfurt region). You can turn off error reports at any time in Settings > Game Settings > Send crash reports and gameplay data. The same control also governs gameplay analytics (Section 3), and turning it off stops collection immediately.

3. Gameplay analytics (optional, opt-in)

We use GameAnalytics (operated by GameAnalytics ApS, Pilestræde 58, 1112 Copenhagen K, Denmark) as a data processor to understand how the game is played, so we can improve it. GameAnalytics is not Google Analytics and is not connected to Google.

Analytics runs only if you opt in. It is governed by the same choice as crash reports (Section 2): if you choose to send reports, analytics is on; if you decline, it stays off. You can change this at any time in Settings.

When analytics is on, a play session may send:

  • which level you started, completed, failed, or left early, with the time taken and the number of turns
  • whether you played solo, in online co-op, or in local co-op, and whether you used a keyboard and mouse or a controller
  • which character (eternal) you played, which skills you bought, and which items you collected
  • game version and edition (demo or full)
  • a random per-install identifier, your device and operating system, session counts, and approximate country (derived from IP by GameAnalytics)

Reports do not include your Steam account name, Steam ID, chat, or save files.

This data is pseudonymous: it is linked to a random per-install identifier, not to your name or Steam account. GameAnalytics may process and store it outside the EU and UK, using EU Standard Contractual Clauses for those transfers. Their data processing terms are at https://gameanalytics.com/trust/legal/eu-data-processing-addendum/.

4. Multiplayer (required for online play)

When you join an online session, Steam handles matchmaking and peer-to-peer networking. We do not run our own servers. Steam's privacy policy applies: https://store.steampowered.com/privacy

5. Steam stats and achievements (required for online play)

We record gameplay stats (kills, levels completed, characters used) to your Steam profile via Steam's standard stats API. This data lives with Valve.

6. Your rights (EU, UK, California)

You have the right to access, correct, or delete the data we hold about you. Crash reports do not contain your Steam account name or Steam ID, so we cannot link them back to you to fulfill a deletion request for that specific data. Gameplay analytics is tied to a random per-install identifier rather than your Steam account; you can turn it off at any time in Settings, which stops collection, and you can contact us to request deletion of analytics data through GameAnalytics. For all other questions or requests, contact us at <your-contact-email>.

7. Children

This game is not intended for children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. No warranty

The game is provided as-is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the game.

9. Changes

We may update this document. Material changes will be announced on the Steam store page.
