Leaving Early Access: 2028

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Trailquest MTB has so far been created by a solo developer during evenings and weekends as a passion project. Early Access gives me the opportunity to continue developing the game together with the players.

Mountain biking is heavily based on feel, flow and control, so player feedback is especially valuable when refining the physics, trails, difficulty and overall gameplay. Early Access also allows me to expand the game over time while focusing development on the areas players care about most.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“My current estimate is that Trailquest MTB will remain in Early Access for approximately 2–3 years. This is only an estimate, and the timeline may change depending on development progress, player feedback and how the scope of the game evolves.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The plan is to gradually expand Trailquest MTB throughout Early Access with more trails, challenges, bikes, customization and ways to compete.

Future development is also planned to explore features such as online events, multiplayer, freestyle tricks, community-created maps and a more complete single-player progression experience.

For the full version, the goal is also to further improve the physics, animations and environment art, and expand the open world with more distinct areas and a significantly larger trail network.

These are the current development goals rather than guaranteed features. Plans may change as ideas are tested and player feedback shapes the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version includes the core Trailquest MTB gameplay experience: a skill-based mountain bike controller, an open world with handcrafted trails and challenges, and competitive time trials with global leaderboards.

At the start of Early Access, the game includes 10 race trails, 4 jump lines, and additional tech and freeride challenges throughout the open world.

The core gameplay loop is playable, but many parts of the game will continue to be expanded, refined and polished during Early Access. This includes content, physics, balancing, presentation and quality-of-life improvements.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase during Early Access as significant new content and features are added, and may increase again for the full release. Any price changes will reflect the state and amount of content available in the game at that time.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play an important role throughout Early Access.

I plan to use player feedback to help refine the bike physics, trail design, difficulty, balancing and overall game experience, as well as to help prioritize future development.

New trails, challenges, features, improvements and fixes will continue to be developed throughout Early Access, and player feedback will help shape where the game goes next.

Feedback and discussions through Discord and the Steam Community will be especially valuable as Trailquest MTB continues to grow.”

About This Game

SKILL-BASED RACING IN A COZY OPEN WORLD

Trailquest MTB is a mountain biking game about learning demanding trails, finding faster lines and mastering full control of your bike.

There are no character stats making you faster. Progress comes from improving your riding, earning medals and unlocking increasingly difficult trails.

MASTER HANDCRAFTED TRAILS

Race against the clock across handcrafted trails inspired by real-world mountain biking. Learn every corner, choose your lines and discover where you can carry more speed.

Compete against your own best times, your friends and riders around the world on global trail leaderboards.

MORE THAN RACING

Step away from the stopwatch and take on jump lines, technical bike trials in the form of freeride challenges scattered throughout the world.

Some challenges test precision and balance. Others are about speed, airtime or and tricks.

MAKE EVERY MOVEMENT YOUR OWN

Physics-based suspension and grip give you direct control over how the bike responds to the terrain.

Control the bike freely in the air, throw whips and develop your own riding style.
