What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“2 years after getting Greenlit, thanks to the intensive full-time work of our team, Gloria Victis finally moved to Steam Early Access. We have waited with launch until now to make sure the game will be polished enough to meet your expectations. However, we know that we can achieve a lot more together, so we encourage the players to discuss the game and its core features, as well as the recent progress and future development plans.

Early Access gives us an invaluable chance to increase the development pace and make sure that the final game will be polished as much as possible. Thank you very much for your priceless support and giving us a chance to bring our dream to life!

Please remember that the game is currently in alpha stage and you may experience some issues or some of the features may not be implemented yet. We recommend supporting us only if you want to help us develop the game!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Thanks to the Steam release we will hopefully be able to expand the development team and release the complete game as soon as possible.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“While in Early Access you receive a solid foundation of what Gloria Victis is and will be, some of the awesome features (in big part designed in co-operation with our Community!) are still being under development and will be implemented in future updates. Our plans for future development include:

– Replacing the character’s model and hiring the motion capture studio to rework animations, particular for combat [DONE]
– Implementation of the playable female characters [DONE]
– Continuous increasing of the servers capability, until there is only a single server per supported region of the world (since then you can freely switch between current servers) [DONE]
– Implementation of siege engines
– Implementations of sailing and naval combat
– Implementation of mounts and mounted combat
– Implementation of housing system
– Implementation of dynamic events dynamically changing the world according to the players’ actions [DONE]
– Implementation of new playable factions [DONE]
– Developing the available world [DONE]
– Numerous minor features, including fishing, gambling and emotes [PARTIALLY DONE]”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Early Access of Gloria Victis includes most of the core features planned for the final release. Some of them are still being discussed with our Community, improved or developed.

Non-Target Combat – Engage in action-based, non-target combat where your skills and tactics matter! Prove your skills and earn fame as an undefeatable duelist, eagle-eyed archer or respected commander inspiring your allies in battle! With the income from Early Access we are going to greatly improve the animations and overall combat experience, as well as to implement mounts and siege engines.
Open PVP – Fight to the death in tournaments, towns and castles sieges and epic wars where entire armies collide!
Territory Control – Conquer the lands, siege non-instantiated towns and castles and develop fortifications to earn an advantage in the everlasting conflict of the realms! In future the player guilds will be able to control and develop towns and castles with surrounding keeps, farms and mines, to forge alliances and declare wars to the other guilds.
Innovative Partial Loot System – Defeated your enemy? Take your reward, selecting which specific items you would like to loot – but hurry, the clock is ticking!
Fame and Disgrace – Be a part of a living feudal society, establish your reputation and move up the feudal hierarchy, leading your allies to victory under your guild’s banner – or run and hide as an outlaw! In the final version you will even get a chance to become the ruler of your nation or the public enemy.
Complex Crafting System – Look for the best resources and materials, use crafting workstations and co-operate with others to increase your efficiency and achieve mastery in one of 8 different realistic crafts. The economy is in your hands – swords don’t drop from wolves but are forged by the blacksmiths!
Class-less Progression – Become who you want to be, shaping your character without artificial classes and fully customizing your equipment using hundreds of available items! Thanks to income from Early Access we will be able to add playable female characters!
Open Living World – Seamless, breathtaking, unpleasant, dynamically reacting to your actions – the diversified and overwhelming world of Gloria Victis awaits you!
Low-fantasy Setting – Explore the lands based upon medieval Europe and Middle-East, discover ancient secrets, seek for forgotten treasures and face creatures designed after medieval tales!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, since the price is calculated to cover the costs of the constant development of Gloria Victis, upkeep the servers and supporting the game after release. If a free-to-play option ever becomes viable and necessary for us -- which will be something that may only happen long after the official release -- we will make sure that the players who bought the game for the original price will receive much more than what they paid for.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are continuously looking for insightful feedback and brilliant ideas from our Community, often discussing them and applying the best ones to the game. We also invite the most active players to check the latest features and changes during internal tests before they are released in the official updates.”

Open PvP upgrade - new guild castles, workers system and leveling improvements! (Update v. – Steam Patch 139)

Hello warriors!

After taking a close look to your feedback and data we were gathering, we have done many awesome changes and upgrades on how Gloria Victis open world PvP looks like!

First of all: we have changed Twinfall and Leaktown into guild castles, also we have introduces two new, much smaller guild forts – Lublin and Norfolk – to fight for, creating some space for smaller guilds.

We have also introduced a new workers system! From now on, alive workers in guild-controlled locations will produce resources over time which can be taken by a guild ruling given province, or with force by enemies.

Also, as we believe that there are players willing to leveling their characters through PvP we have increased exp gained by fighting with your enemies both on open PvP and arenas.

See you in battle!

Changelog v.

Open PvP upgrade:

– Introduced the Soft Lock system which asks player to choose main server which can be changed freely once per week; when player is not playing on his main server, he won’t receive bonuses from flags controlled by his nation and he can’t loot the workers chests; if it will be needed, this system will be expanded
– Introduced workers system in guild-controlled locations – workers are gathering resources and storing them in the upgradable storehouse which guild members can freely take, or other nation users can take by force (destroying the storehouse door first); these doors can be destroyed and looted anytime, but outside of the server’s primetime (starts 9h before the server's 1st tournament and ends 2h after the last one), resources are collected 3x slower; also, killing enemy workers slows down collecting resources in given location and if there’s no worker alive, no resources are being collected (they have 1 hour-long respawn); supply chests can’t be looted from players who set different main server; it’s the first iteration of making the central part of the world more alive and interesting outside of the State of War time
– Workers are spawned by upgrading the resource nodes (farms, lumbermills and mines) in guild locations – each location increases the amount of workers and the last upgrade spawns a worker which is placed inside the walls so can't be killed freely
– Changed Twinfall and Leaktown into Guild Castles
– Introduced two new small guild forts: Lublin and Norfolk
– Twice increased the experience gained from Open World PvP, Duel Arenas and introduced 0.25% of that experience for kills in the training Arena
– Improvements to the AI pulling algorithm to make it harder to take castles overnight
– Adjusted the guild province Token price – now it’s set to 3 gold

Quality of Life changes/fixes:

– Introduced new model of the Champions Heavy Helmet and added 5 skins available for it.
– Rebalanced rewards for completing the starting quests (players will end with about 5 times more money and higher level than before)
– Introduced ability to freely change the chat color on your own
– Updated changing color of the guild Coat of Arms and done some minor UI improvements.
– From now on, you can see the quality of items in the Market window
– UI improvements of the Market offers limits window
– Improved search window in the Market window, it now searches the items’ names for both user language and English
– Minor server side optimizations (we are going to run next round of performance tests and improvements this week)
– You shouldn’t be able to wear random items like planks on your body slots by a bug anymore
– Fixed an issue which could make an NPC invisible in edge case, after staying AFK for longer than 60 seconds and then moving around
– Added small buff to moonshines (reminder: moonshine is a material for further production, so it’s overall buff strength is adjusted for that matter)
– Removed crafting tasks from the starting quests, since many new players had issues with finishing them
– Rebalanced rewards in all starting quests of all nations

Inventory/Depot improvements:

– Fixed an issue leading to stacking items outside and inside the deposit wrong
– Fixed an issue on which having depot and inventory open at the same time would led to depositing items instead of equipping them
– Fixed an issue with trade due to which trading many items at once could lead to receiving items invisible on the client's side until relog
– Fixed an issue causing to switching the PvP trigger button after clicking on Minimap
– Fixed issues caused by moving shield directly from character's body into depot
– Fixed an issue on PvP looting of stackable item when we already had a stack in our inventory
– Fixed an “inventory is full” bug while trading stackable items which should fit it our inventory stack
– Fixed a bug which led to not working “expand inventory” option on backpacks

Addressing the Community feedback! (Update v. – Steam Patch 138)

Hello warriors!

New update is live! This week we focused on addressing your priceless feedback. In response to your suggestions, we doubled the limit of the player-spawned plants. Moreover, we fixed an issue allowing to exceed the limit of active offers in the Market, and we took an opportunity and added possibility to increase the limit of your active offers in the Market. We also reduced the power gap coming from using the standard and top-quality food.

Moreover this patch includes several improvements for chat. We know that the open PVP formula of Gloria Victis can create a lot of emotions, which are often spread on chat. That’s why we just split the Help and All channels. Also, now we have a wider range of possibilities regarding muting players whose behavior damages the others’ experience – besides of muting on all channels, we can now do it on specific channels or just on Help.

Also, time to announce the winners of the recent screenshot contest! Winners are: BrianPablo, Kchance13 and Sgt. Jack Cookie. Please contact us on Discord and tell us which skin for tent would you like to get as a reward.

Sgt. Jack Cookie

The last but not least – we run a 100 Days Against All Odds Challenge - behind the scenes of developing an indie MMORPG on our Reddit. Read about the history of Gloria Victis and get ready for curiosities, stats, easter eggs or just things which surprises us every day – we have lots of them!
