Why Early Access?

“I'm putting goblinAmerica out in Early Access for two reasons:

1) I intend to release goblinAmerica serially, in discrete chapters. It is a deceptively large and sneaky game that rewards curiosity and exploration, and I think it will benefit from being experienced this way. I'm using Early Access to indicate that not all the chapters have been released yet: The game you're buying now is a complete part, not a rough whole.

2) Feedback and guidance from the community. goblinAmerica's development is ongoing, and I want to hear what works and what doesn't work to help steer development in the right direction.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly 2 years: The game will be in Early Access until all levels have been released, the game's storyline is complete, and the game is in a polished state. ”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have more levels which will progress and eventually conclude the main 'campaign' of the game. I currently plan for the final version to have ~10 main levels, as well as a handful of secret levels. Each level will provide new weapons, items, and challenges, as well as progress various storylines within the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version of goblinAmerica consists of the first act of the game: Four "main" levels, numerous items and weapons, substantial questlines, and some very large secrets. While some tweaks or polish will probably be necessary, this first act is complete and substantial, intentionally structured with this serialized approach in mind, and represents about a third of the game's eventual content.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I expect to raise the game's price as substantial new content is added.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I will read and consider audience feedback, both in reference to what's already in goblinAmerica and in thinking about future releases on the game's path out of Early Access. For the time being I can receive feedback on the Steam discussion forums for the game, but I intend to add a more convenient and in-game medium for players to provide feedback during early access.”
