What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“2 years after getting Greenlit, thanks to the intensive full-time work of our team, Gloria Victis finally moved to Steam Early Access. We have waited with launch until now to make sure the game will be polished enough to meet your expectations. However, we know that we can achieve a lot more together, so we encourage the players to discuss the game and its core features, as well as the recent progress and future development plans.

Early Access gives us an invaluable chance to increase the development pace and make sure that the final game will be polished as much as possible. Thank you very much for your priceless support and giving us a chance to bring our dream to life!

DISCLAIMER

Please remember that the game is currently in alpha stage and you may experience some issues or some of the features may not be implemented yet. We recommend supporting us only if you want to help us develop the game!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Thanks to the Steam release we will hopefully be able to expand the development team and release the complete game by the end of 2017.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“While in Early Access you receive a solid foundation of what Gloria Victis is and will be, some of the awesome features (in big part designed in co-operation with our Community!) are still being under development and will be implemented in future updates. Our plans for future development include:

– Replacing the character’s model and hiring the motion capture studio to rework animations, particular for combat
– Implementation of the playable female characters
– Continuous increasing of the servers capability, until there is only a single server per supported region of the world (since then you can freely switch between current servers)
– Implementation of siege engines
– Implementations of sailing and naval combat
– Implementation of mounts and mounted combat
– Implementation of housing system
– Implementation of dynamic events dynamically changing the world according to the players’ actions
– Implementation of new playable factions
– Developing the available world
– Numerous minor features, including fishing, gambling and emotes”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Early Access of Gloria Victis includes most of the core features planned for the final release. Some of them are still being discussed with our Community, improved or developed.

Non-Target Combat – Engage in action-based, non-target combat where your skills and tactics matter! Prove your skills and earn fame as an undefeatable duelist, eagle-eyed archer or respected commander inspiring your allies in battle! With the income from Early Access we are going to greatly improve the animations and overall combat experience, as well as to implement mounts and siege engines.
Open PVP – Fight to the death in tournaments, towns and castles sieges and epic wars where entire armies collide!
Territory Control – Conquer the lands, siege non-instantiated towns and castles and develop fortifications to earn an advantage in the everlasting conflict of the realms! In future the player guilds will be able to control and develop towns and castles with surrounding keeps, farms and mines, to forge alliances and declare wars to the other guilds.
Innovative Partial Loot System – Defeated your enemy? Take your reward, selecting which specific items you would like to loot – but hurry, the clock is ticking!
Fame and Disgrace – Be a part of a living feudal society, establish your reputation and move up the feudal hierarchy, leading your allies to victory under your guild’s banner – or run and hide as an outlaw! In the final version you will even get a chance to become the ruler of your nation or the public enemy.
Complex Crafting System – Look for the best resources and materials, use crafting workstations and co-operate with others to increase your efficiency and achieve mastery in one of 8 different realistic crafts. The economy is in your hands – swords don’t drop from wolves but are forged by the blacksmiths!
Class-less Progression – Become who you want to be, shaping your character without artificial classes and fully customizing your equipment using hundreds of available items! Thanks to income from Early Access we will be able to add playable female characters!
Open Living World – Seamless, breathtaking, unpleasant, dynamically reacting to your actions – the diversified and overwhelming world of Gloria Victis awaits you!
Low-fantasy Setting – Explore the lands based upon medieval Europe and Middle-East, discover ancient secrets, seek for forgotten treasures and face creatures designed after medieval tales!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, since the price is calculated to cover the costs of the constant development of Gloria Victis, upkeep the servers and supporting the game after release. If a free-to-play option ever becomes viable and necessary for us -- which will be something that may only happen long after the official release -- we will make sure that the players who bought the game for the original price will receive much more than what they paid for.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are continuously looking for insightful feedback and brilliant ideas from our Community, often discussing them and applying the best ones to the game. We also invite the most active players to check the latest features and changes during internal tests before they are released in the official updates.”

Addressing the Community feedback (Update v.0.7.3.4 – Steam Patch 73)

Hello warriors!

Check out the latest update! With primary focus of addressing the recent Community feedback, this week’s update introduces numerous requested gameplay changes, such as ability to join the tournament once it’s ongoing, solution for traitors interrupting sieges and balance tweaks to the Glory system. There are also tons of bugfixes to numerous systems. Also, being aware of the recent concerns about the in-game chat, we have introduced the chat moderation tools. Players were able to mute other players manually for long time but from now on, moderators can apply a global mute on troublesome players, making chat a better place.

Enjoy and see you in battle!

Changelog v.0.7.3.4

Gameplay:

– Added a possibility to register to the tournament while it’s ongoing
– From now on, you cannot attack your nation members even as a Traitor while being on Siege
– Traitors are not being invited for world events anymore
– Various changes in the AI system – NPCs should fight better depending on their level
– Reverted maximum Glory level difference in PVP to 80 and change the base amount of Glory Points earned for kill from 3000 to 7500 in order to allow advancing in the Glory table even with lower population, while still making fighting players with low Glory level not effective
– Implemented earning Glory Points for upgrading settlements

Fixes:

– Fixed a possibility to damage attackers of castles through the doors with melee attacks as a defender
– Fixed an issue causing server-side performance drop while player is logging off
– Fixed all known cases of disappearing mobs/buildings from latest performance fix
(if it would still happen anyway, please send us a screenshot to support@gloriavictisgame.com so we can easily fix it!)
– Fixed the NPC shops UI bug which caused not showing the entire item price on some resolutions
– Fixed an issue causing animator to block in a edge case while doing interaction with an object
– Fixed an edge case allowing to loot NPC enemies from very far range
– Fixed an issue which caused camera collisions with NPC’s
– Fixed an issue which caused cursor not appearing while starting dialog with NPCs
– Fixed an issue causing not displaying properly the banners on flags in captured locations
– Fixed gaps in between walls segments in upgradeable settlements – most of them appeared near corners

EDIT] Hotfix 2017-08-18

- Numerous minor fixes to various systems
- Improved servers performance

Siege system expanded! (Update v.0.7.3.3 – Steam Patch 72)

Hello warriors!

Check out the latest update and forge your fame in the escalating conflict! From now on, the southern lands are also included in the siege system, so get your weapons ready and be prepared for a bloodshed!

Enjoy and see you in battle!

Changelog v.0.7.3.3

Gameplay:

– Improved synchronization and responsiveness of player controller
– Added sharing the map markers between party members
– Included major southern settlements (Blackrock Castle, Volkvar Castle, Rodrock Fort and Tenebrok) into the global siege after tournament to prevent situations when one nation controls several settlements in the South but still has to defend their Last Stand fort
– Added siege camps near southern settlements
– Restored the after-siege world events (outpost defense and rites), improving them to work properly for 3 nations
– Added an option to move players automatically to the after-siege events area due to including southern locations into the global siege and the distance between southern locations and events areas became huge
– Reduced the max acceptable Glory level difference for killing enemies from 80 to 40 in order to reduce occurrence of farming Glory on low levels
– Optimized displaying network objects such as players, resources, upgradeable objects or NPCs
– Increased the daily Glory Points cap from 5.000 to 10.000 and increased amount of Glory Points earned for capturing settlements in order to give more incentive to take part in world events and capture locations (which aspects often lead to PVP situations) and to play regularly even on servers with lower population
– Improved “Ragi the Renegade” world event and increased rewards for bosses stages, since it is long and difficult event and requires an organized team to complete it
– Added interrupting interactions, such as capturing flags, gathering resources and moving behind a gate in besieged settlements, by receiving damage and dying
– Added next 2 quests for the Azebian Empire which complete the first part of their storyline
– Added 5 new Azebian bows and their recipes shops and loot tables (temporary their models are the same as bows of other nations)
– Increased colliders responsible for looting NPCs
– Added animation and delay for moving behind a gate in besieged settlement
– Added dedicated flames icon to indicate a besieged location on map
– Added an indicator on crosshair for dealing damage to other players

Fixes:

– Fixed an issue allowing to take rewards for dynamic events when inventory is full which lead to item disappear
– Fixed recipes which didn’t have assigned proper workshops
– Fixed Midlandic model of Meggy from Audunstede
– Fixed Kafar’s shop
– Fixed tooltips of quests markers on minimap
