Why Early Access?

“NOTE: Players who currently own Don't Starve on Steam will get Don't Starve Together for free when it exits Early-Access. During Early-Access, current owners of Don't Starve get 2 copies of Don't Starve Together through the Frontier Pack at 75% off.

When we opened up the initial Beta signups in September, we were overwhelmed with the demand, and in a few days we received over 80,000 registrations. Since then, we’ve steadily sent out keys to people who signed up.

As part of the Beta signup process, we’ve found that there are a lot of people who really want into the Beta, and even while giving out a hundreds of keys every day, it became clear to us that we needed a release valve for the demand. Specifically, people were starting to buy keys in back channels, with varying success. That's why we're now providing the Frontier Pack: a clear, official channel for access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We have a plan to complete our core set of content in 2015, and we will be adjusting our plan based on feedback. The game is already fully playable today.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have a lot more content, including: new Don't Starve Together-specific content, the ability to host large dedicated servers, support for Reign of Giants content, and much more!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Don’t Starve Together currently supports up to six players on player hosted servers, and up to 20 on dedicated online servers. It has both “Survival”, "Wilderness", and “Endless” game modes, support for Mod Workshop, and six playable characters.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Current owners of Don’t Starve will be given free access to Don’t Starve Together upon its exit from Early-Access. In purchasing the Frontier Pack, players get Early-Access, and a bonus copy for a friend. Changes

People you have played with now appear in the Steam view players feature.
Added a colour cube effect for player ghosts.
Game mode data has now been refactored into gamemodes.lua.
Game modes can be added from mods via AddGameMode.

Bug Fixes

Fixed bug where lightning flashes sometimes causes a permanently darkened screen
Creepy Eyes and Shadow Watcher hallucinations will appear properly for clients now
Maxwell Statue will appear properly for clients now
Fixed crash when disabling mods that was caused by frontend assets not being reloaded. Future mods should refrain from overriding assets in the global prefab as they are unable to be unloaded when disabling mods.

Changes

New UI! Too many changes to list, but the UI overhaul changed the aesthetic and was generally focused on improving navigation
Inspecting players and skeletons now shows their user name
Passwords are now hidden while you are entering them (added an option to the settings menu to enable showing them, as well)
Save filters between sessions (reset filters button is part of the UI update)
Make the world reset countdown timer a HUD element, which allows players to hunt for a method of resurrection while it ticks down (also increased the timer duration to go along with this)

Bug Fixes

Tweaked server listing code to reduce traffic in high use scenarios
Fixed rare crash when feeding players
Fixed bug where items in inventory could be set on fire
Mining lantern light can be seen by all players now
Reduce mass of creature ghosts so that they can’t pin players in corners.
Creature ghosts no longer use Wigfrid’s build
Fixed issues with joining or hosting games on systems with unicode characters in their filepath
