"Okay I know the art style isn't anime but this visual novel is GORGEOUS. It has dating sim elements and follows the story of Cinderella...or does it?"

“MoaCube focuses on the women of the tale and what made them who they are. The game is about nuance, is about understanding the motivations of another human being.”

“Asides from being delightfully well-written, highly replayable and filled with complex, convoluted characters, Cinders is also beautiful.”

“A visual novel that presents the deepest, most complex, most original, and ultimately most compelling re-imagination of the Cinderella universe.”

O tej grze

Cinders is a mature take on a classic fairytale with a heavy emphasis on player choices and role playing.

Cinders is a witty young woman living with an overbearing stepmother and her two daughters, as if she was reenacting a certain well-known fairytale. But unlike its protagonist, Cinders is not afraid of taking fate into her own hands. Even if it means breaking the rules…

The game takes a look at four women and what made them who they are. It’s a story about balancing freedom and dreams with circumstance and harsh reality. About growing up and finding out the true meaning of independence. Distancing itself from the judgmental simplicity of the original, Cinders tries to explore the more complex nature of oppression, responsibility and innocence.

With 120 decision points, over 300 options to choose from, and multiple endings, Cinders gives you total control over the main character’s personality and how her story unfolds.

Kopciuszek w zupełnie innym wydaniu. Zamiast jasno nakreślonego "zła i "dobra", skrajnie przerysowanych postaci, upiornych sióstr, macochy-potwora, kochanej wróżki oraz cudownego księcia, dostajemy coś zupełnie innego. Dostajemy bohaterów z krwi i kości, mających własną osobowość, własne przekonania, aspiracje, interesy, tajemnice oraz pragnienia. Każdego z nich można zrozumieć i polubić.

What an amazing game. Not sure I'm entirely qualified to write a review since this is the only visual novel I've played - but I love the game so much, I have to gush about it. Let's see:

- Incredible soundtrack. It's too bad they don't have that as DLC because if they did, I'd buy it in a second.
- Lovely graphics. The artwork is gorgeous in a perfect fairytale way.
- Very interesting story. A good thing too if you're going to play over and over for multiple endings.
- Rich characters. Their dialog was well written and I cared alot about what happened to them.
- Choices really make a difference. The way the story flows is very much up to you. Choose wisely.

- Some of the dialog between characters can get a bit preachy.
- As with most "choose your own adventures", they don't always give you the choices you'd like.

All in all, if you have any interest in the Cinderella story or a well written book-like game with pleasing artwork and music, I highly recommend this. And with all the many ending variations, there's lots of replay value. I've 100%ed the achievements but there are still 2 endings I really want to see so I'm not done playing yet. What a great game!

Western VN. The writing is terrible: none of the characters talk like real people; main character not only has no personality, but is bad at assuming the motivations of the player choices available (it sounds like someone is telling her what to do and feel through an earpiece, and she forgot to read the script); weak plot motivations. Also, for a game that seems to be trying to tout strong female characterization, the female characters in here sure are huge ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s. Not one of them is likable.
Issues elsewhere include: only 8 save slots even though you get prompted for a choice every two minutes (filled all my saves in less than 20 minutes), protagonist's dialogue arbitrarily switches from outward conversation to internal narration with absolutely no visual or audio indicators, backgrounds have perspective completely wrong (for it to be right the camera POV would have to be at thigh-height, at least 15 meters away from the characters, which is absurd), no volume adjustment, only 3 text speed settings.
The only good things about it are the menu and background animations, which are pretty great, but it's unfortunate that they're wasted on this game.
ps: The wandering eyes and some of the expressions are really disturbing sometimes.
pss: Typos. Sometimes even two typos in a single sentence! In a 3+ year old game commercially sold for 17 euros, I remind you.
pss: Strong independant woman durr

My opening statement:
Cinders is pretty good visual novel.
I think this is all you need to know at this point.

I like when familiar stories are reimagined, authors and creators give them they own flair and taste, and it worked in Cinders. Story feels fresh, you can like (love would be strong term) and hate characters, and for 3 hours it grabs you and you want to see how the story ends. Happily ever after or miserable till death.

Art is simply fantastic, i am big fan of it.
Music could have been better.
There is nothing specific for what you can be harsh on this game and if you want me to cherry picking some stuff; I was surprised when i saw 16,99€ as a price for Cinders. Holy cow! If i didn't get this game in bundle, i would never ever buy game like this, for price this high.

Awesome artwork, good storytelling were reasons to play till the end; but one end only.

P.S. Gloria is hot. I am weird. I know. So what!

Gorgeous VN, providing a nice variation from the mainly anime style VNs available. The character designs are beautiful, they are also pleasingly expressive for the amount of detail on each of them. (I'd gladly buy a poster of madame Ghede or the fairy to hang on my wall, if one were available :L) The backgrounds are wonderfully atmospheric, particularly around the fairies' lake, perfect for the fairytale story it's based on. The music also attributes to this atmosphere setting the tone for each scene.

The characters are enjoyable, the opportunity to work with Cinders' step-family was a nice variation to the original story. Cinders also stood out as she was a very likeable protagonist, with a lot of personality.

The major con of this game is it's length, there are relatively few endings, it would have been nice to see more possible love interests/lifestyle paths for Cinders as a lot more of it is based on who is allied with her at the end and whether she is good, or bad. You can finish most, if not all, endings in one sitting, so it, unfortunately, has little replay value story-wise.

Overall, I'd recommend Cinders as a beautiful and atmospheric experience, utilising it's game qualities to enhance the events taking place. My only wish is that there were more events.

TLDR: atmospheric & beautiful art, with interesting characters, but is relatively short/has fewer endings than most other VNs.
