Merry Christmas

We have added a number of Christmas themed customisations (Christmas Jumpers, Baubles, and Santa, Christmas Pudding, and Reindeer outfits) and a new fracturing ice sheet level to the current Unity 4.6 build whilst the final work on the unity 5 port is being finalised and tested.

We will continue to work on the Unity 5 port over the Christmas holiday to try to get it released as soon as we can.

Information on the Gang Beasts 0.1.6 Build

This post has information on the coming 0.1.6 build.

We have solved the break force value issues identified in the last post but still have some stubborn tasks to finish and some testing to complete before the first Unity 5 version of Gang Beasts is released on Early Access, we expect the release to be this year but wanted to make a post to give information on the development road map for next year and information on our plans for sharing more frequent information about the development of the game following the Unity 5 release.

The work on the next release has prioritised moving Gang Beasts from the Unity 4.5 engine to Unity 5 but has also focused on removing or reducing annoyances associated with the limitations of the current control input implementation. The move to Unity 5 has meant a second significant reworking of the default character control scheme (as the PhysX 3.3 is much more exact than the system used for previous versions of the characters) but has given dramatically improved physics performance and improvements in general performance (this has temporarily slowed the development of the game but importantly gives much greater scope for interaction with physics objects).

At the same time as moving Gang Beasts from Unity 4.5 to Unity 5 we have also implemented Unity’s new Physically-based rendering (PBR) shaders and Global Illumination, we plan to share more information about these improvements in the coming weeks leading up to the release of the 0.1.6 build. We have also taken on additional freelance support to help with some development and non-development tasks (support, press, events, merchandising, legal etc.) to minimise interruptions and give the time to fully engage with Early Access.

To summarise the key technical work on the game is almost finished at which point we can start adding a glut of new content to the game, including new stages, new fighting moves, the new audio system, more character customisations, more character body types, sub-boss and boss fights, and additional game modes and environments.

There will be limited new content in the 0.1.6 release (similar to previous releases) but his will be followed by more significant content updates starting from January next year, we have setup a development log at beefcity.info to share frequent update information and other general development content (pre-viz images, play testing footage, technology tests etc.), the key content from theses posts will also be shared in weekly posts on Steam.

I can no longer recommend this game. The devs do not communicate whatsoever.

All promises of how the early access interaction between buyer and dev have been broken.

Is the game stil fun? Yes, lots of fun. I bought 8 controllers solely for this game so I could do 8 player local co-op with friends. It really is a blast.

But the devs don't talk, its been over two months since any information update. Last time I heard directly from the devs and not the loyal supporters on the forums was in september when I subbmited a bug having to do with the mouse cursor still being visible during gameplay. But that was 5 months ago. The game came out 6 months ago and the total updates since then have consisted of a few costumes and two levels. I know they are hard at work (presumably) on the unity 5 update. But until these devs learn to just send out a post of information at least once a month, or respond to a question on the forums at least once a month, I cannot recommened this game. I understand what early access is and I understand according to the new policy that they cant make promises about planned content any more, but my objection to how the devs have handled this comes down to simply letting the involved early access buyers know anything, and I mean anything about what has happened in the last 6 months.

On paper according to someone outside of the dev cycle there is almost nothing that has happened to this game in the last 6 months. They created a blog back in december which promised weekly updates to what they have been working on. As of today the website is exactly the same as when it was created.

I have had the most fun playing this game out of any other game I own. Could the game stand alone now on its own merit. YES. I would recommend this game to anyone if it wasn't early access. Even if the game had been posted back in August as a full release I still think it would have been enough to recommend with my first review.

But because this is an early access title I have to look at it from that perspective when recommending this to others. How this game has been treated during the last six months as an early access title is unacceptable. Until the devs learn to at least say what they have been working on over a 6th month period I cannot recommend. Don't buy this if you were hoping to be apart of the development process because the devs have put up an iron curtain. Nothing gets in, nothing gets out.

Old Review:

Amazing, forget goat simulator (which I still love fondly), this brings me back to the days of sitting on the couch around a n64 with my friends going hysterical while playing deep into the night. It's a blast that will have everyone laughing.

If you want a story, or online multiplayer, or a purpose that goes beyond "FIGHT!", look elsewhere. This is not any of those things, at least in the present. But it doesn't need to be anything more.

This is pure Local Co-op Drunken Brawling Fun. And when I say pure, I mean Huckleberry Milkshake straight from the bush mixed with Tillamook Vanilla Ice Cream pure. It is legit.

I think alot of people would agree that this game would be alot more fun if online multiplayer was included, sadly it's only local, but if you're like me and have no friends to play it with, or manage to get controlers to work, there is a way for us lonesome players aswell.

By holding your mouse cursor over a spawable platform and press 9, you'll be able to spawn in AI players, as many as you want infact.

But other than the fact that it's only local multiplayer, this game is pretty fun, even for by playing by yourself.
And I'm looking forward to the story mode

So yes, I would recommend this game, even more when it's on sale(Atleast when I made this review)

Great fun and really funny for a few hours then becomes kinda boring cause it lacks depth and every match will be the same and for the content it has i think 20$ is a little overpriced.

Positives:
+ Great concept
+ great fun if you have friends to play with (up to 8 players are supported)
+ really funny and many great stages
+ nice physics

Cons:
- No online
- Devs gone silent for a few months and it seems they moved on.
- becomes boring after a while since it is severly lacking in depth.
- No bots, which means you can't play solo.

i would still recommend getting it but i would recommend waiting for a sale since it is overpriced and it seems the Devs stopped caring about the game with no updates or any news for a while.

This game is absolutely hillarious with friends!
It's one of the few games I know that has 8 player local multiplayer, and that's what makes this awesome!
Just hook up a bunch of controllers, and let the mayham begin!

Get knocked out in-game?
Just punch your friend on the couch next to you!
Make that b*tch feel that he messed with the wrong sack of potatoes!

One tiny little sidenote: Playing this game usally involes quite alot of swearing, so best keep the kids at bay when you're playing this!

一款不错的单机多人游戏,非常适合家人朋友聚会时玩,画面简单明快轻松并且笑点爆棚。不足之处在于仅支持键盘(1人)及XboxPC控制器(若干),游戏目前版本无AI,地图略少,以及不便宜的价格。除去以上依然值得推荐,也很有潜力,打折时可以考虑收了。

Folks, I don't want to repeat a lot of what people have said on here. All I can say is, my 11 year old daughter and I have the most fun playing this game together. We are almost constantly laughing. The constant action and nearness to "danger" keep us on the edge of our seats, and we laugh all the way down.

I've seen in on a big screen in front of several hundred people, and I've played it on my home PC. It is just plain fun.

Like many people, I thought that $20 bucks was going to be pricey for this game. Honestly, it's the best $20 I have ever spent on a game. I'm also excited that the game is still in development, because every once in a while we get new levels, new features, and new options. It keeps getting better. In one play session, we had to stop playing because we all had headaches from laughing so hard.

10/10, would throw my friends into a fan again.
