“We'd like to get it out and start having fun as soon as we can, feedback and suggestions from the community are very important to us. This is a unique project for a shooter that not only explores the history of FPS games but gives the player first person shooter perspectives in other game genres - we'd love to know what you think and want you to tell us where things are broken so we can fix them asap!”

Bedlam is a unique FPS game based on a novel of the same name by cult Scottish author Christopher Brookmyre.

Pitched as a shooter for those who survived online gaming in the 80s and 90s, Bedlam takes a look through an iconic time in online gaming and serves up some authentic gaming nostalgia with up-to-date graphics and gaming features. Bedlam is set entirely in the first-person but will explore other game genres from a first-person perspective.

In the game you play Heather Quinn (aka Athena) a colleague of Ross Baker (aka Bedlam). Heather is an overworked and underpaid scientist developing medical technology for corporate giant Neurosphere. One rainy Monday morning Heather volunteers as a test candidate for the new Neurosphere brain scanning tech - anything to get out of the office for a few hours.

But when she gets out of the scanner she discovers she's not only escaped the office, but possibly escaped real life for good! Heather finds herself trapped in Starfire - the violent sci-fi game she spent her teenage years playing - with no explanation, no backup and, most terrifyingly, no way out!

Or would it be your worst nightmare?

Trapped in a place where every demon ever conjured by the human mind can be made flesh. Cut off from the real world, unable to see your family or friends ever again. Stuck in an endless state of war and chaos where the pain and fear feels real and from which not even death can offer an escape.

Real Kool Blast Through FPS HIstory

Ok Bedlam short review , here it goes.You play as Athena (female protagonist) that is traped inside a game construct.You aid others like yourself that are being held in this constuct and trying to find a way back to the real world.They aid you in your quest to brake free.

The Game itself is just a real good old school FPS game.The controls are standard FPS style.So if you are familiar with FPS games this game will be a real treat down memory lane.There is so many game references in this game its so awesome! If you play or have played any FPS games from the hay days to now you need to play this one . Its well voiced and the story is well written.

I say real good job on the Dev or Dev's Part makeing this a must play for any FPS Gamer!! I give this one 2 Thumbs up!!

I never laughed so much while playing a video game. Here in this little piece of art you'll find so many references to other games and game modes, I haven't expected this at all when I first saw the screenshots. Don't let the graphics scare yourself off, they are part of the game at the beginning and might let you feel like you're back in the nineties.

The concept is very unique; a bit RPG here, some retro arcade games there, all the references and that filled with funny dialogues and from time to time good music. While you're hooping from one gameworld to another the graphic improves while everything else will stay the same: Shooting and smashing yourself through a horde of different enemies with all the weapons you're able to find in the previous worlds and try to find a way out of the missery your character is in.

The ending though really strained my nerves. The game begun to stutter caused from many enemies that spawned, often resulted in a gamecrash. It's still in the early access so I hope this will get some improvements.

I really enjoyed the game and felt often reminded to the games I played back in the days. It took me around 5.6 hours to beat the game 100% but it was absolutly worth my time.

Get it while it's in a sale or in a bundle and you won't regret anything!

Bedlam is awesome! Graphics and levels are oldschool, in a good way. The narration is surprisingly good. Jokes are genuinely funny and not "forced". So far I enjoyed every aspect of the game.

It's high quality titles like Bedlam that keep the indie game scene as a whole afloat, seriously. Do buy.

+ A fairly good story based off the novel of the same game
+ Scottish accents are always a plus
+ References to older FPS's is a nice touch
+ Feels like an old school shooter with a better engine
+ A very large variety of weapons

= Gun sounds could be a bit more believeable
= Enemy AI has rather horrendous accuracy
= Enemy Snipers on the other hand have perfect accuracy
= Gun switching should be via Half-Life style with a small hud

- The difficulty is absurdly easy on Medium
- Zombies....really?
- Many of the guns feel useless (Pistols)
- The game itself is rather short

this game is unique, it has different taste from other first person shooter game , RPG-ish and also influenced by some retro arcade games like space invader and pac-man. At first hour the graphics is very annoying as it's 90s pixel style and the character does look ugly ;(, you also move very very fast.. but later the graphics got better and better as you are travelling from games to games. Just think it as FPS version of wreck it ralph. The plot of this game is interesting, if you are playing it and think it's boring, just keep playing for few hours and you'll learn what happened to the characters

thanks to this game I knew that main character is Scottish. and I learn something about it. I thought it was Russian, middle east or anywhere else. I think I never heard that accent before. As a guy from non-english speaking country that love to learn culture, I found the accent was "unique" as I lost some words but subtitle does help.

This game is still early access, and I found there are many glitch also the difficulty is steep.. at first the game is very easy, but the last is very hard, well not really that hard like people says-- it'll be very easy if you are taking glitches as advantages

I think I'm somewhere near the end of the game and I recommend this game if you are a looking for a non-mainstream FPS game that has good story telling. editted : and you are aware this is EARLY ACCESS

the core level, is still very buggy..
the developer removed FPS text on top left
I think they are working on several issue as they keep updating the game every week but still I can't finish the beat the core level.. FPS is still sluggish
AVG antivirus detect it as malware, for learning user behaviour, I had no choice but uninstall the game, Exe file was deleted. I'll play again next month maybe as I'm stuck now for over 2 weeks, It's early access so I hope I could finish the game before 2016..

there is a level where there are waves of cute monsters, you can jump over the canopy and just shoot with rocket launcher and then maintain your position

for the waves of red sci-fi army and crysis like (enemies that have invis camo) there is a trick for it, F5 a lot near the place that has medicine or armor and when the game load again after you die, it will be there and also there is a dead end road, get yourself covered by ducking, the boulder will cover you and enemies will come one by one make sure you have enough ammo to do that
