FORCED v1.3 - Slightly Better Edition



Hi everyone!

It’s been a long time since we updated FORCED because we’ve been exceedingly busy getting the game out on consoles.
Today, however, we’ve got a real treat for you; the Slightly Better Edition.
This update upgrades the Survival modes with 2 new maps and a crystal system, allowing you to gain new powers through playing Survival.

It also contains a lot of optimization and some bug-fixing, which should help everyone run it a little smoother :)

We’re deploying this version as a patch so it’ll be freely available to everyone, and all our new gladiators will get to join in the fun right away :)

I hope you’ll pick up the game again and give it a spin, and perhaps welcome our newest members of the community who are searching for games :)

Changelog
  • Gem system for survival modes: You can now earn up to 3 gems in each of the co-op survival modes, based on how long you stay alive. These gems also unlock skills in the campaign.
  • The Laser Pit survival mode added: A new Survival map that will let you try your skills against the deadly rotating laser that you encountered in Trial 11: Run for Cover. This time, however, the enemies won’t give you a break!
  • The Dungeon survival mode added: Another new survival map that uses all the mechanics from the fourth chamber of the campaign. This map will never get repetitive when you die hundreds of times, as the enemy spawning has been randomized!
  • 4 new achievements to earn by playing the survival modes
  • Large optimization improvements. This will also help network play to be less laggy as the host computer no longer struggles to keep up :)
    • Chamber 4 environment darkness optimized
    • Blood machine blood optimized
    • Final boss FX optimized: Giant portals spell, Meteor Shower.
  • Improved the design of the Final boss. Fixed a few exploit issues and balanced a few skills. Also fixed the fact that you could resurrect outside the arena.
  • Inserted a startup logo screen to tell new players they should expect a hard game and should try to play it co-op :)
  • Improved a lot of localization, implementing translations for a lot of the things that were missing.

What is the Slightly Better Edition?

Since the release of FORCED back in 2013 we’ve been continuously updating the game. In celebration of our anniversary we released another major update to the game which now makes it the Slightly Better Edition.

  • Survival Modes overhaul
    The Survival Mode feature has received an overhaul with new maps and a reward system to make it a more integral part of the game.
    • There are now 4 survival maps (up from 2), 3 of them endless waves and 1 versus.
    • Each of the endless Survival maps now award crystals based on the times you achieve. These crystals are added to your Campaign crystals when determining which abilities and maps you unlock.
    • 4 new achievements to earn by playing the survival modes
  • Large optimization improvements; This will also help network play to be less laggy as the host computer no longer struggles to keep up :)
  • Final Boss improvements; The Final boss of the game has received some design love, FX optimization and additional bug-fixing for a greater climax to the game!
  • Menu improvements; A splash screen for new players to welcome them into the world of FORCED and simplified lobby interface
  • New Input system; a fully reworked input system should make our controller support even more stable by supporting additional features such as switching seamlessly between controller and keyboard even in-game!
    Still a work in progress, so you may experience a few issues :)
  • Localization additions: We’ve added Polish as a language to the game, and have also implemented a lot of translations that were missing from previous verisons.
  • Plenty of updates between the original release and the most recent one
    • Network overhaul - Across multiple iterations we’ve overhauled the networking of FORCED, fixing the problems people initially had with connecting and lag. We’re still improving this, as there’s always opportunities to make it better
    • Singleplayer resurrect - Since the original release we introduced a resurrection mechanic in Singleplayer to adjust the difficulty and to keep the experience closer to the co-op style of the game. This makes the game more fun in singleplayer, although we still suggest playing co-op :)
    • Bug fixes galore. The obvious one, but we really want to mention that we’ve spent tons of time fixing bugs and issues that the community helped us track down - and still are!

Historia

Forced comenzó como un proyecto en una Universidad en Copenhague. Creado desde sus inicios con la cooperación en mente, el juego tiene varias características innovadoras que llevan a los jugadores a colaborar entre ellos, dejando a los jugadores egoístas sangrando en el suelo de la arena.

grandioso juego para jugar hasta 4 personas, muy bien implementado el mando aunque tiene un ligero fallo si se desconecta un mando te hecha al menu principal, aun asi muy recomendable, se hara dificil pero con la voluntad del guerrero todo es posible

Un gran juego, te hace pensar como resolver los problemas y todo en equipo. Si solo estas buscando presionar un boton como loco, este no es tu juego.

¡Muy divertido! No es el típico mata-mata tipo Diablo, se centra más en trabajar en equipo que en pegarle a la piñata.

Cuando compré Forced... me esperaba algo bastante distinto. Y debo confesar... que aún no siendo lo que me esperaba, la sorpresa ha sido buena.
Oculto bajo el manto del típico juego de "matar todo lo que te rodea y subir de nivel", se encuentra un juego que combina a la perfección esa parte tan típica con la solución de puzzles... y resultando aún más divertido cuando se juega en cooperativo, teniéndote que coordinar con los compañeros de equipo para poder resolver los puzzles que se plantean. De hecho... más de una vez desearás tener a un compañero cerca para resolver algunos retos avanzados que te plantea. Y más de diez...
La única pega que le he encontrado... que no nos guarda la configuración de habilidades. Al menos, por el momento.
Entretenido, en algunos puntos algo puñetero, y muy muy correcto. Recomendado, sobre todo para jugarlo con amigos.

Uno de los mejores juegos para pasar el rato y no aburrirte, puedes hacer el gilipollas con amigos o simplemente pasar las pruebas que te dan.
