THIS REVIEW REQUIRES BASIC KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE GAME, ABOUT WHAT YOUR GOAL IN THE GAME IS AND HOW YOU ARE ABLE TO ACHIEVE THAT!
After having bought Castlestorm on my mobile and having played it through 3 times and having almost all upgrades on maximum levels I was getting bored of this game and didnt play with it for several months. Someday I decided to give it a go again. I noticed some new updates like survival and highering the maximum upgrade level from 10 to I dont know, havent reached it yet.:) After having played in survival mode like 20 hours I was interested in how far others could survive and decided to google it. I clicked on the first search result in youtube and noticed right away, that the whole design was different than to mine so I figured out that there is gotta be a PC or console version as well. When I found this game on Steam I instantly purchased it from a 3rd party seller for a few keys.
So after having played the mobile version for a few hundred hours and having played the PC version as well I decided that I should write a review on it to help others decide whether or not they should PURCHASE THIS VERSION ON PC OR STICK WITH THE MOBILE FREE TO PLAY VERSION.
So here is the summary of my impressions and opinions:MOBILE VERSION
-/+ free to play, but partly pay to win
-/+ due to the pay to win part, some ammunition types, units not achievable/upgradeable ---> game more difficult in general, especially in survival mode
- less game modes (ONLY campaign and survival, NO multi-player/coop)PC VERSION
- game has to be purchased for money
+ no pay to win aspect, everything is achievable/upgradeable through playing the game
+ a big variety of game modes (f. e. campaign, hero survival, coop hero survival, versus (your ballista, units, castle against someone else), coop survival (you have control over your units, ballista, magic spells, your friend controls a hero of his choice)
Overall this game is a great little mix of different game types and definitely worth its price and offers a lot of hours of great entertainment and fun, especially if you have a friend to play it with. (With funny voices and comments of the units like "Let me axe you something!", "I wish I would have a hammer. Oh, I do!", "What am I? Cannon fodder?".
Unfortunately the online part of the game is as good as dead, searching a game can last up to several hours...I hope this review helped you in making your decision about purchasing this game.
