Acerca deste jogo

A project over eleven years in the making, Cortex Command has rich 2D pixel graphics coupled with an extremely detailed physics engine, which allows for highly replayable and emergent real-time action. There is also a turn-based strategic campaign mode which ties the tactical fights together, featuring persistent terrains that will accumulate the battle scars, debris, and bunker ruins through your entire campaign.

Choose from several unique technology factions, each featuring their own sets of expendable soldier bodies, mechas, weapons, tools, and landing craft. Protect your brain, mine the gold, and destroy the enemy cortex in his bunker complex!

Key Features:

  • Fully destructible environments - The gold you need to excavate is sprinkled throughout the terrain of each scene. Use special digging tools to blast your way into the dirt and debris. All the pieces of bodies and ships from your struggles will fall to the ground and permanently add to the battlefield. Get more powerful (and expensive) diggers and you can even tunnel into your enemies' bunkers from below!

  • Strategic metagame campaign – The intense, real-time tactical battles are put in a greater strategic context in the Campaign mode, thus giving each battle meaning and consequence. The gold-rich terrains on the planet and the defensive bunkers you build to defend them are persistent from fight to fight. This means there will be layers of debris, bunker ruins, tunnels, and corpses piled up in layers, telling the history of each place throughout each campaign played.

  • In-game buying menu - At any time and place during the game, bring up a powerful menu to order new bodies and equipment, all delivered at the location and by the transport ship of your choosing. Rockets are cheaper but unreliable and harder to land. Drop ships are far more expensive but can quickly deploy entire groups of puppets onto difficult terrain. Ships and equipment returned to the TradeStar are refunded to your account.

  • Build your own bunker - At the start of most missions, you are able to take your time and build your own command bunker from scratch. Easily design twisting tunnels and place doors, traps, and turrets to thwart your enemies' intrusions! Pre-deploy and equip bodies in and around your installation to prepare yourself for your objectives. Don't spend too much though, or you won't have enough funds left when the mission starts!

  • Four-player cooperative and/or versus multiplayer - Gather your friends and plug in those game controllers! Play skirmish or campaign missions with or against up to three of your buddies. 2 vs 2, 1 vs. 3, 4 vs. the CPU - it's up to you! (rhyme intended). Flexible control settings allow you to use the keyboard, keyboard + mouse, or any generic game controller you can find and plug in.

  • Built-in editors and modding - Several in-game editors allow you to easily create your own stuff. The game's engine is built to make it very simple to modify and add your own content. Design your own missions, guys, ships, weapons, tools, bombs, and shields - and easily share them with your friends. Join and download some fantastic mods from the community at the Data Realms Fan Forums.

  • Cortex Command is still being improved - The campaign mode and missions are fully playable, if not in a completely polished state yet. If you buy the game today, you will also have access to any and all future versions (not including sequels!)

Cortex Command is conceptually excellent, and decently functional, but still needs a lot of polish to properly express the creative and interesting gameplay mechanics that it offers. It can be difficult to work with at first, and the tutorial could really stand to teach how the shop/build mechanics are used.

I'm optimistically voting this up for now. I'm really, really hoping that this game continues to get updated. This really is a great concept, and I'm excited about that.

Buggy and overpriced. You know it's a bad sign when they use bad reviews as a selling point. It's fun initially with the mods, but the glimmer quickly wears off when you realize that those mods don't last very long. Very little replay value, with countless ♥♥♥♥ty moments. Do not buy this game, and feel sorry for the people who do.
Oh yeah, the dev. also hates everyone who buys his game.

This is by far my favorite game, it has given many more play than any other game I have ever played, barring Civ and DOTA 2. I attribute this fact to the fact that it can be played over and over again without feeling stale, this is because it has an amazing modding community, with mods ranging from a new weapon, to completly changing the game.

Great base game
Despite the updates being rare, they do still come, and still provide new content
Slight sense of humor (Look Sir, free crabs!)
Great modding community

Fairly costly
Occasionly crashes (Checking the game cache works wonders)
Long loading starting loading screen (This happens when too many mods are installed)
Updates are rare

RTS and a Shooter in one
Terrain destruction
Pixel graphics

The Metascore really doesn't do this game justice.

It's buggy, sorta clunky, and kinda maybe a little broken.... but it's certainly not a 44.

There's not a single game that has the same feel to it.

this game is a awesome game, mods are awesome and there are a bunch of modifications and custom factions. some are OP like the hueg'o pack of mods (I know that "huge" is misspelled, but that is how it was spelled according to the mod) and ones that are underpowered, yet have something OP about them. such as the planes from GWTB mods (I am not including tanks, since for me they always get stuck on rocks for some reason) or the UNSC mods. nothing about them is really OP except for the spartans, masterchief and the spartan laser. anyways, great game. love it. also, did I mention? there is 0 MICRO TRANSACTIONS! I love games that have no micro transactions... usually...... not enough to make you interested? well, then it also features destructible terrain (literally, every type of terrain can be destructed with atleast 1 thing) if you don't like this game you are 1: a alien who is against fun 2D games
or 2: a girl.

Good game and pretty easy to mod to, and if you don't feel like modding you can download one of the plenty mods from the Steam Workshop. One of the only problems is that it dosent update much, other than that there's no problems.

Lot of fun, sandboxy kind of game. Managing your AI minions well is vital.

A lot of extra fun is added by the workshop mods and messing with game settings, making different bases etc.

Well made mechanics, some extremely funny moments, grenades everywhere, free crabs. However the stock game is just a framework for modifications. That said, they should help out the loading time. With mods, and local multiplayer, its a blast.
Just chuck in a few cats with lasers and its legendary.

The idea behind the game was good. The execution was lacking. Bugs, unhelpful tutorials and broken game modes await you.

I really wanted to like this game, I really did. Now, I understand they are claiming it to be early access still, but I'm afraid I just can't condone this flagrant lack of coherency on a product. The game crashes upon losing a game of assault the base, it is nearly impossible to move around accurately inside, ladders are completely nonfunctioning and the game demands strategy guides be used to even understand how to play the campaign. The brain, your central command character, is almost always stuck on something and cannot move, often times I have set my brain to not do a thing but stand still and it will pick up a digging tool and dig right into the enemy's line of fire. even when the battlefield is clean, it is almost impossible to move around without getting stuck on random particles, let alone once debris and bodies pile up. the A.I. for the opposing team, even on easy, seems to have ambulation down to a science, but my own npcs will simply jetpack into walls or just stand still to get shot. I watched the video describing this newest and most overwhelming update to the game and i must say that I was genuinely exited to see something I'd been following for a few years come so far. But, this has been incredibly dissapointing. I would not reccommend this title until something has been done to combat the myriad of base gameplay problems. If a developer were to happen upon this, I would recommend that you make drop ships less likely to wildly explode everywhere, give us a decent tutorial about ALL aspects of the game which will not at all be taught in the campaign itself and please PLEASE make sure that the simple act of moving characters isn't so god awful frustrating.

Quite an entertaining engine and sandbox, with all manner of visceral pixel destruction physics. Quite admirable in that respect. I'm not sure how many sandboxy options are actually afforded to you anymore, that was from much earlier in development, and I'm sorry to say that the actual game portion of the game, in spite of continued revamps, just isn't even remotely engaging on an actually-playing-the-game level. It's remarkable fun to watch ♥♥♥♥ get destroyed, particularly dropships, but actually attempting to control stuff and do battle is an impossibly obtuse and clunky process. Even from its earliest days in development I was entertained with the engine, but really could not imagine how they intended to build a game around it.

I'm still not sure that they did.

This is it, folks. The original Early Access game that failed to deliver, made waayyy before Steam Early Access was even a thing.

Fun concept that has been in development for a literal decade without much advancement from the alpha that I was playing in '07 aside from a conquest mode that feels rushed despite being worked on for years. Entertaining, sure, but not enough to be worth $20 when you can get much more rewarding games for much less.

Get it on sale maybe.
