Reviews

"Alex Vostrov has created the most fiendishly clever, creatively generous, and cinematically thrilling facing-down-the-alien-hordes real time strategy game this side of the original Starcraft! Who says a great RTS has to be a big budget studio endeavor?"
--Tom Chick, Quarter To Three

"Infested Planet is a game I’m excited to see evolve, as it has the potential to be a unique and engaging RTS unlike any I have played before."
--Nightmare Mode

"Infested Planet is already quite fun, and the current beta is being very actively expanded, refined and tuned. If you’re into strategy, this might well be worth keeping an eye on. After all, who knows what it could mutate into?" --DIY Gamer

"The mutations are an ingenious way to mix each game up and keep the experience fresh."
--WarGamer

About This Game

Command a team of 5 elite soldiers against an alien horde of 100,000. Surrounded on all sides, you must outmaneuver and outsmart the enemy.

The enemy is closing in around you. Your soldiers are being flanked and the perimeter is slowly collapsing under a vicious alien assault. Robotic turrets will not last much longer. Just a little more and the bugs will swarm into your unprotected base. What are your orders?

You order your soldiers to fall back to a defensive chokepoint and rebuild your defenses. Sacrifice the forward squads to gain some extra time. Gather your team while equipping them with flamethrowers and laser guns. Start building a siege cannon for fire support. Then, while the aliens are busy, flank their main hives to destroy and capture them.

You have just pulled off a tactical victory - but there's no time to rest.

The aliens are constantly mutating. One moment your shotguns are ripping through the horde, the next the aliens grow hard, bullet-proof armour. You must adapt as well. Equip your team with stealth suits, miniguns, grenade launchers - your commands will decide the battle's outcome.

Features

  • Real time tactical combat
  • A lengthy campaign where you develop new weapons
  • Procedural maps and random mutation system keep the game fresh
  • 21 Human weapons and buildings for you to wield
  • 33 Alien mutations to keep you on your toes
  • Fight thousands of enemies at once

Great example that for making a great game you don't need a budget running into millions. Very catchy and entertaining.

Reminds me of Cannon Fodder on the Amiga, great fun. Be warned, no saves halfway through a mission. For the price, I can't fault it.

Not the most complex of RTS games, Infested Planet does have just enough challenge to keep you interested. The bugs never stop coming, so you can't ever stop paying attention. It's BP system in place of an economy further livens things up - you can't sit back and build up your power, you're given all that you're going to get till you take some strategic points. You must suffice. It's really very satisfying. Don't be scared off by the tower-defense aspect, as it's not really a tower defence, it's squad management with good solid defence backing it up. You take a point, place a tower to protect one flank and protect the other by sending your mercenaries screaming back into the breach.

At first I was mixed about the game because what was coming was obvious, to my dismay the game got repative very quickly. They throw in a new ability now again but nothing that changes the game, to much. If the game where on sale, for around one or two dallors then I would suggest this game otherwise. I cannot suggest it.

i really recommend this game if your in to RTS games were you build up your base and then get your troops to attack the enemy base but when you play a lot it start to get old but overall it is very good game it has a lot of potential I would love it if there was a whole new campaign dedicated to playing as the aliens and also adding a multiplayer when one person can be the aliens in the other person can be the humans I would also like it if they would add an upgrade or something to make it where you can build tanks and artillery they should also add in a tank like creature for the aliens to deal with the tanks I can't wait to see how this game will turn out there are barely any games on Steam that are like this that's why I love this game

I found infested planet to be a challanging and rewarding little game that kept me entertained for a few hours. The missions are not too long or short, and while there isn't a huge depth of strategy, you still need to be able to balance your forces, plan your attacks and be very prepared to react to enemy attacks. Some missions seem particularly challanging until you find the key approach. Very enjoyable, 7/10

I really suck at RTS, but this game has just the perfect scope for me. Few units, but a lot of choices to make. Should I invest in different soldier weapons, turrets or buy the ability to call in airstrikes? What hive should I capture next to gain the most advantage? Later on in the same game I might sell the airstrike in favor of a minigunner or sniper, and so on.

As you play, the enemies mutate and become different and you suddenly need to adapt your strategies.

Small bite-sized (15-30 minutes for me) levels with a lot of depth, and when you play the Campaign mode you earn money to unlock new upgrades between each mission even if you were to fail, so it always feels like you're making progress.

The music is wonderfully thumpy and deep, and I'd recommend the game just for that even if all else sucked, which it doesn't.

A surprisingly fun RTS. I didn't expect much going in, but I played all of the missions, including the extras. The mechanics are novel enough and the difficulty high enough to keep you interested. The only real problem I've observed with the game is that some of the items seem unhelpful to the point that you won't tie any of your precious few resources up in them.

This is a fantastic little RTS. It's fairly simple to pick up and play, yet throughly addicting. The single player campaign, while perhaps not strong in story, ramps up the challenge very quickly, yet in a way that lets you become prepared for the next challenge. Sometimes, it feels almost like a puzzle; one ends up needing to evaluate each and every move/attack you make, lest some mutation occour that makes the bugs able to attack your holdings before you can respond to it. And, trust me, you WILL be forced to respond to these mutations, especially if the AI is set up to pick mutations. Some of them work so well together that it makes the mission nearly impossible to beat, but that's part of the fun, too. It's a solid game and I have recommended it to numerous friends.

Also, if you like Warhammer 40,000 and ever wondered what it would be like to command troops during a Tyranid invasion, this will give you a pretty good idea of what that would be like. Just saying.

I really questioned if I would like this game or not. 10.2 hours later i've played all the way though and if you like tower defense style games I think you will enjoy this.

You take a small squad and basically have to fight your way through several series of missions. The story arch isn't particuarlly long, but they have additional missions you can do to unlock more features.

Personally, I enjoyed the game.
