Replayability: As of writing this review, Awesomenauts has stolen over 750 hours of my free time, and it is bound to rob me for many years to come. With the multiple match ups (meaning how good certain characters are against other certain characters, on a scale of equal player skill) no session has ever felt the same.
Arenas: I cannot compare it to the likes of DOTA or LoL, since I havent played either, but coming from someone whos played the likes of Powerstone 2 for the Dreamcast, I can tell you that this game offers a robust experience. The arenas are structured in such a way that allow you to go miles by taking an inch.
Characters: The prime beef. Ronimo takes a bit of slack when it comes to balancing certain character traits and abilities, half of which I would say are very much deserved, but at the end of the day using the character in a way that outplays your opponents strengths and capitalizes on there weaknesses will outrule any match up against you. You are bound to find a character, if not half the cast, to your liking~
Single Player: There is none. This game will not engage you if not played online. Future DLC will patch in alot of match customizablity, so I cant say much on how they will integrate it, but not including the Starstorm DLC, I would not reccomend this game to anyone who is timid of the online environment.
Art: The game is advertised to look and sound like a Saturday morning cartoon. The Musical Score matches this, with catchy rhythmic beats that loop in the background and character specific that play ala reward for killing sprees. The graphics, not so much. Dont get me wrong, the sprites are colorful (albiet small in relation to everything else on screen, but still packed with personality) and the levels looks gorgously bright and tell a story, but the only thing "Saturday Cartoon" about it is the intro video and character portraits. Still, you get what you get, and if youre a fan of the child friendly art style, you wont be disappointed.
