The last evac helicopter drops you over a ruined city. Loot, craft and pick a role, then outlast 60 players as the zone closes in. Win, and the helicopter comes back for you. A top-down pixel-art battle royale where walls block your sight. Solo or in a squad of four.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Last Evac is fully playable today: online matchmaking, Solo and Squad, three roles, 15 guns and a final evac for the winner. A battle royale lives on its balance, though: how fast the zone closes, how hard the bots fight, how much loot there is, how strong each gun and role feels. We want to tune all of that with real players before calling it finished, and keep adding to the game while we do.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About six months. If players ask for something bigger that needs more time, we would rather take it than rush the full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“
  • Cosmetics earned by playing: parachute patterns, weapon skins and outfits
  • More guns, attachments and tactical items
  • New places in the city, and a second map
  • New roles next to the Scout, the Breaker and the Medic
  • Balance changes and fixes from what players tell us
”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Everything on this page is in the game now: 60-player matches with bots filling empty seats, Solo and Squad, the helicopter drop and parachute, three roles with two abilities each, 15 guns with attachments, armor, weight-based backpacks, crafting, tactical items, loot chests, explosive barrels, supply drops, weather and time of day, pings, the final evac, career levels, weekly challenges, leaderboards and 15 achievements, in 14 languages.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes: the price will go up a little at the full release. Buying during Early Access gets you the whole game, including everything added until 1.0, for less.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the Steam Community discussions and reviews: bug reports, balance feedback and ideas there decide what we work on next. Updates come with patch notes on the store page, and the game writes a log file you can attach to a bug report (Settings > OPEN LOG FOLDER).”

About This Game

The city is gone. One helicopter is left.

Ride the evac helicopter in through the clouds, jump whenever you like and parachute into the ruins. Scavenge weapons, armor and medicine, craft what you are missing and stay ahead of the closing zone. 60 players, one way out: be the last one standing and the evac helicopter comes back for you, drops a rope ladder wherever you are and flies you out of the city.

You only see what your character sees

Walls block your line of sight, so a building hides whoever is inside it. Doors open, slam and break; drop a barricade shield to hold a doorway. Footsteps, gunshots, creaking doors and crows taking off give positions away, and a thrown noise bottle can send everyone the wrong way. Rain muffles your steps; a thunderclap swallows a gunshot.

Pick a role

Every role has two abilities: Q on a short cooldown, F the stronger one.
  • Scout: Pet Crow flies over the walls, shows you what is around it and marks enemies who come close. Keen Ears turns every nearby sound into a ripple where it came from.
  • Breaker: Scrap Shield stops bullets from the front. Molotov sets the ground on fire to flush players out of cover. Breaks doors twice as fast.
  • Medic: Quick Wrap heals you over three seconds while you keep moving. Gas Mask keeps the zone from hurting you for a while.

Loot, craft, fight

  • 15 guns, from a pocket pistol to a .50 sniper rifle that only falls from the sky, plus the axe for close quarters
  • Scopes, extended magazines, suppressors and grips: a suppressed shot isn't heard across the map
  • Open loot chests, blow up explosive barrels (and whoever is standing next to them), chop down trees with an axe
  • Helmets and vests in three levels, backpacks to carry more: the bag is limited by weight, not slots
  • Craft bandages, medkits and tactical items from cloth, chemicals, wood and scrap
  • Tactical items: smoke grenades nobody can see through, tripwire alarms, barricade shields you drop in one press, noise bottles and painkillers
  • Twice a match a supply helicopter drops a crate of rare loot under a red smoke flare that everyone can see

Solo or Squad

Queue alone or with up to three Steam friends; a smaller party, or a player alone who picks Squad, is filled up to four with other players, then bots. Squadmates share what they see, ping enemies, loot and places with one click, mark landing spots for each other and bring each other back up when one goes down. And when a squadmate is out for good, carry their dog tag to a Crow Cargo box: the crows fly them back into the match.

Every match is different

A new flight path, new loot and a new zone every match. Clear skies, a rain shower or a thunderstorm; morning, midday or evening light, with the street lamps coming on at dusk.

Keep coming back

Earn XP and levels, master each role, finish weekly challenges and compare your XP with your friends on the leaderboards. Your rooftop hideout fills up as your career grows, and when a match is found the evac helicopter lands on your roof to pick you up. Choose your survivor's body, skin, hair and clothes. 15 Steam achievements to unlock.

Online

Matchmaking on dedicated servers, with bots filling empty seats so a match starts quickly. Windows and macOS players play together. Available in 14 languages.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Much of the game's pixel art was made with the help of an AI pixel-art tool (PixelLab): the characters and their animations, outfits, items and loot icons, map buildings, props and ground textures, and achievement and app icons. Parts of the menu and interface art and the store and library key art were made with an image model (ChatGPT) from the game's own screenshots and sprites. The developer chose, edited, assembled and animated these assets by hand and with their own tools. Two menu music tracks were generated with ElevenLabs Music under a paid licence, and some sound effects were generated with ElevenLabs, then trimmed and mixed by the developer. The other sound effects are public-domain recordings or were synthesised by the developer's own scripts. Nothing is generated by AI while the game is running.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Last Evac contains stylized pixel-art violence, including firearms and melee combat, red blood effects, injuries, dead bodies, and player elimination. The game also depicts the use of painkillers as a temporary health boost. It does not contain gore, dismemberment, sexual content, or self-harm.
