Steam has introduced email verification to further protect your Steam Account. Once you've verified your address, email confirmation will be required to change critical Steam Account information like your password, contact information, and secret question/answer.

To verify your address, visit Steam Settings and click the "Verify email address" button. You will then get an email message from Steam Support asking you to verify your email address with the click of a custom link.
