What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We do believe that if we want to develop the best game possible, we have to work with our players. Our goal is to develop a realistic military FPS for Virtual Reality headsets that every player loves and enjoys. Without player feedback, we couldn’t accomplish that. Moreover, when the full version of the game will be accessible, we would like it to be free of any defect or bug.
That is why we need players’ feedback, even during development. We take every feedback, opinion, critical thought seriously, so please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re listening, and as an addition, you will become part of the development process!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We’ll release the full version when every aspect of the game is polished, and we’re fully satisfied with its state. :) Currently the estimated release date is early 2019.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

The full version will also contain:
- The 2nd half of our story
- A lot more weapons and attachments
- Shorter, challenging Co-Op missions

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

The game's core mechanics are layed down: physics based interaction, customizable weapons with various attachments.
The EA version will contain the tutorial, first half of the story and a Co-op missions.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

Price may increase moderately when we release.

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

"We regularly monitor our community channels, including our forum on Steam, our Discord and our social media (Facebook and Twitter). We extensively test the game/its updates before it goes live, but if players find a bug, they can report it and we’ll fix it as soon as physically possible.
We also take the best/most upvoted ideas and add them into the game.

Our quest is to develop the best, most immersive military tactical shooter available for VR!"

Zero Caliber Update - New night map, attachments on AI weapons, improved progression system and a lot more!

Hey guys!

We've been hearing a lot from the community that Zero Caliber needs a CQB map, so we made one!
Our new small mission, 'Retaliation' brings you intense Close Quarters Battles, and what is even better is that it's a night map!
Grab your flashlight attachment, put it onto your favourite gun, and you're good to go! Or don't, and enjoy the darkness. It's your call.
'Retaliation' can be unlocked by replaying 'Boot Camp'.

Check out the detailed patchnotes below.

  • New level: Retaliation - Unlocks after replaying 'Boot Camp'
  • Reworked music for lobby

Player/control improvements
  • Better VR experience: we removed the collision from most of the small objects, so your movement will be smoother - less likely to experience heavy motion sickness

  • Attachments on AI weapons: the AI is now using weapons equipped with various attachments. Check out the fallen AI's weapons and take any attachment you want!
  • Minor fixes on various guns

Progression system

XP, player rank and weapon-unlock system improvements [previously the player unlocked weapons at the end of levels, only once]:
  • Players now get *XP* points for completing levels
  • Better accuracy, more kills and headshots, plus more co-op buddies mean more XP!
  • XP points get *Ranks* for players
  • With each rank, players unlock some weapons, special magazines or attachments
  • Fortunately, previously unlocked and/or bought weapons, magazines or attachments are kept, not lost with this update
  • What is more, previously skipped weapons get unlocked automatically if current player rank allows them
  • Known issue: unique weapon skins are not handled yet, will be added in a future update

  • Totally reworked enemy spawning (improved and more balanced)
  • The enemy uses attachments on weapons too
  • The friendly ai will use more weapons with better attachments
  • Various bugfixes on every level

  • Effect, texture model fixes
  • Optimization on multiple levels

Stuff we're currently working on
  • A massive AI overhaul [both animation and behaviour]
  • Pump acion shotguns
  • New maps
  • PvP [more info soon™, please be patient :)]
  • Optimization and fixes

As always, thank you guys for the continuous support and feedback, it's greatly appreciated!
Keep the feedback and suggestions coming!

What to expect from Zero Caliber VR in 2019 + new trailer!

Hey guys!

We’d like to share with you what you can expect from the XREAL Games Team regarding Zero Caliber VR in 2019. :)

TL;DR version:
  • Monthly map updates
  • Regular weapon updates
  • Massive AI overhaul, both animation- and behaviour wise
  • PvP with dedicated servers
  • Tutorial and weapon showcase videos
  • Reworked progression and unlock system
  • Complete dialogue and voice acting rework
  • Conclusion of the story
  • Soundtrack
  • Massive optimization improvements

Last year was a blast! Thanks to the community’s feedback, suggestions and bugreports, the game has come a long way! We’ve been working constantly on fixing, polishing the game and adding new content, and we will continue to do so in 2019!
We’re still a small indie team of enthusiast developers, so your continuous support means a lot to us! :)

Please welcome our new trailer! Subscribe to Pewdi our channel for the upcoming weapon showcase- and tutorial videos!

And now on to 2019: we won’t leave you without updates!

You can expect monthly map updates, the first one coming at the end of next week. Are you afraid in the dark? We hope not! ;)
It will be a smaller mission, just like ‘Dust’ and ‘Frostbite’. The flashlight attachment might come in handy!

Between the map updates, there will be regular new weapon additions. We’ve already added a community favourite, the KRISS Vector. Let us know which one should we add next!

We have to talk about the dreaded AI. We know it isn’t perfect, but don’t worry! It will get a complete overhaul. New animations and behaviour updates are on the way!

PvP fans shouldn’t be let down either!

We’ve started working on the PvP mode of Zero Caliber VR. Our vision is to bring something new to the market, we’ll share the details when we get closer to testing around April. Stay tuned!

In terms of VR, optimization is key. We have a few tricks in our bag, graphics and performance will get better and better with each update! We’ve already decreased the blurriness in our latest update and will continue to optimize the game even better!

Story and Gameplay

The dialogue, and the voice acting will get an overhaul as well. We do know it isn’t perfect either, we’re reworking it based on the community’s feedback.
We’re also producing a badass soundtrack for the game, and of course the story will get a conclusion.

This post is long as it is, so we haven’t listed everything we’re planning to do this year (like the reworked progression and unlock system). If you have any questions, feel free to ask us here on Steam, on r/xrealgames, Facebook, Twitter, e-mail or our Discord server. We’re more than happy to answer!

If you have trouble or issues with the game and need assistance, contact us directly, we’re always there to help!

On to a very exciting and update-filled 2019! :)

About This Game

Zero Caliber VR is a first-person tactical shooter developed by XREAL Games exclusively for premium Virtual Reality headsets.
The story brings the player to a dystopian United States in the not too distant future where physics-based interaction combined with hyper realistic weapon handling and stunning graphics will make you feel like you’re physically part of the action. Fight either alone, or with your friends throughout the whole campaign, which is fully playable in Co-Op.
Action-oriented story, gripping gunfights, realistic weapons with an on-the-fly swappable attachment system. Immersion like you’ve never felt before in a VR military shooter!

Handle, aim and reload your weapons with real-life movements! We modeled the in-game weapons based on their real-life counterparts paying extreme attention to detail. Each weapon has its unique reloading method that you have to learn and practice to fully master them.
If you fancy explosions, just grab a grenade and throw it at the enemy. After you pulled the pin of course.
Stay in the open for too long and you’re dead. Try to find cover instead, duck, crouch, sneak, peek around a corner, clear obstacles with real-life movements. Military combat isn’t all about shooting. Being aware of your surroundings, the terrain, and working together with your squadmates are all part of a successful mission. Don’t let your fellow soldiers down!

Everyone has a unique playstyle. Is accuracy your thing? Put a laser sight on your assault rifle and take accurate shots in semi-automatic mode, or just grab a sniper rifle. Are you more of a shoot first, ask later type of person? Take a shotgun, or dual wield your machine guns in fully automatic firing mode. Be careful though, recoil can make your job really difficult! Combine your favourite gun with your favourite attachments on-the-fly to find out which variation suits you the most!

Water is life. Someone should’ve made that clear before humanity started poisoning Earth with microplastics. Now water is death. People are fighting for drinkable water, for survival.
The military tried their best to keep order, but inevitably they got overwhelmed. That’s when mercenaries appeared.. then entire private armies.. and then when hope started to fade away came the religious cults. The most fearsome of all is a secretive organization worshipping Tlaloc, the aztec God of rain. The “Tlalokii”, as they call themselves. Their motto? “Join us or perish”. What is even worse, they know something that can change the fate of humanity.
Be part of this action-packed, story-driven VR adventure where you fight alongside your fellow soldiers trying to keep order… or what’s left of it anyway.

We place realism above anything else. Graphics and ambiance are crucial parts of this, that’s why we took extreme care in audio and visual design. Explorable open environment, stunning graphics, background noises, realistic weapon sound effects.

A constantly developing military VR FPS experience that will surely make you forget that you are in a video game!
