About This Game

A strange game board has drifted in from the Outside World. Rinnosuke Morichika, owner of Kourindou, works out that it is called "chess" and starts teaching it to the customers who wander into his shop.

Chess with your guests

• Nine guests from Gensokyo visit Kourindou, from Cirno, Reimu and Marisa all the way to Yukari.
  
• Every guest has their own strength and style: Cirno brings her queen out early, Reimu plays on intuition, Marisa attacks with raw firepower, Patchouli knows her opening theory, and Remilia hates draws.
  
• Guests think like people and blunder like people. They take long thinks, rush, and sometimes hang a piece.
  
• Their mood shifts with the position, and they react with expressions and lines of dialogue. You can talk to them, praise them, or tease them.
  
• Win and a guest gets a little stronger; lose and they ease off a little. Beat a guest to bring the next group to the shop.

Story

A 9-chapter story in which Rinnosuke teaches his guests chess. Learn step by step, from how the pieces move to forks, pins, endgames, sacrifices and zugzwang. Every chapter has board demonstrations, puzzles you solve yourself, and a game against that chapter's guest.
