What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Undead Showdown is a multiplayer game, and the best way to balance it is with real players in real matches. Early Access lets us tune the zombie difficulty, the in-match economy, weapon balance and matchmaking based on how squads actually play, rather than on our own testing alone. As a small independent team, we want players involved while the game is still easy to change.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Early Access to last about 6 to 12 months, depending on player feedback and how much content we add during that time.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to grow the game around the core Undead Showdown experience. Our current intentions include:

• More maps and stronghold layouts beyond the first battlefield
• The Hollow Spire, a story mode for solo players or online co-op squads of up to four
• More weapons, attachments, camos and playable survivors
• More Soul Marks, casino games and ways to spend points during a match
• More Limbo duel arenas and moves
• Balance, performance and quality-of-life improvements based on community feedback

These plans may change as we learn what players enjoy most.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is fully playable online and includes three modes:

• Undead Showdown: up to 16 players in four squads hold their strongholds through ten zombie rounds, then fight for last squad standing against each other and two roaming bosses.
• Team Deathmatch: 5v5 with your saved classes and fast respawns. The first team to 50 kills wins.
• Limbo Duel: queue alone for a 1v1 2D arcade duel on a random stage, best of five.

It also includes create-a-class loadouts with attachments and camos, upgrades during the match, a stronghold casino with slots, roulette and blackjack that uses in-game points only, Soul Marks, and squad options for filling spare spots, keeping to your party or playing as a lone wolf. Keyboard and mouse are supported. Expect rough edges, balance changes and occasional bugs while we keep improving the game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price gradually as we add new content and features, so players who join during Early Access get the best price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will read and reply to feedback in the Steam Community discussions, post regular updates and patch notes, and use player suggestions and bug reports to set our priorities. Over time we plan to run community polls on upcoming content and balance changes, and to hold playtests for new maps and modes before they release.”

About This Game

FOUR SQUADS. TEN ROUNDS. ONE TEAM STANDING.

Undead Showdown is a multiplayer zombie shooter where preparing for the dead means preparing for each other. Up to 16 players form four rival squads, each holding a two-floor stronghold through ten rounds of zombie survival. Fight through open windows and crowded stairways, watch the enemy sniper nests, and decide where to spend every point.

After round ten, the gates open. Surviving squads enter a central battlefield of cover, flanking routes and trenches, while zombies and two roaming bosses, the Brute and the Warden, tear into the fight. The last squad standing wins. Final-battle deaths are permanent: no Limbo returns and no teammate buybacks.

WIN YOUR WAY BACK

During the survival rounds, your first death gives you one Limbo opportunity per match. Wait for another fallen player, then face them in a 1v1 arcade duel. Win and return to your squad. Lose and spectate your teammates while they decide whether they can afford an expensive buyback before the final battle.

Limbo trades first-person gunfire for 2D sprite fighting across four atmospheric arenas. Dash into range, duck under an attack, jump into a kick, parry and counter, or grab a crate and throw it. Build your meter and commit to an ultimate. Fast decisions can turn a lost life into a comeback.

BUILD YOUR ARSENAL

• Create your class: choose your weapons and equip earned attachments to shape how they handle.
• Upgrade during the match: turn points from zombie kills into stronger weapons, armor and equipment at the Panhandler and stronghold stations.
• Make it yours: choose your survivor and unlock weapon camos through progression, kills and victories.
• Fight your way: rifles, shotguns, pistols and specialist weapons support different ranges and play styles. Sprint, mantle, crouch, go prone and use quick melee to stay in the fight.

GAMBLE FOR POWER

The stronghold casino offers another use for your hard-earned points. Try DEAD MAN'S JACKPOT, roulette and blackjack, or spend at the shop to secure what you need. Soul Marks add powerful effects to your build, but you lose them when you go down. Keep an eye on the windows: rival snipers can punish a distracted squad.

Slots, roulette and blackjack use earned in-game points. The optional weapon wager risks your in-match gun. There are no real-money wagers, purchasable casino currency or cash prizes.

BRING YOUR SQUAD. OR GO LONE WOLF.

Play in squads of one to four. Fill available squad spaces, stick with your party only, or enter alone against larger teams. Matches can start with fewer than 16 players once opposing squads are present. Stay together, help a downed teammate, and save enough for the fight beyond the gates.

MORE WAYS TO PLAY

• Team Deathmatch: 5v5 with your saved classes and fast respawns. The first team to 50 kills wins.
• Limbo Duel: queue alone for a 1v1 2D arcade duel on a random stage, best of five.

COMING SOON: THE HOLLOW SPIRE

We plan to add The Hollow Spire, a story mode for solo players or online co-op squads of up to four.
