What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Fellmark is already playable and has been shaped by its testers from its first build. Early Access lets players help decide what comes next while we build the full world: more towns, quests, lords and the endgame.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About 6–12 months: we'll update this as the roadmap firms up.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Quests, lords and reputation, a fuller economy, more creatures and dungeons, full voice acting, and many more structures and items.
Oh and a story.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Playable start to finish: mining, forging, building, survival, towns, co-op and endgame automation. Expect rough edges and frequent updates.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the price will rise at full release”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the Fellmark Discord, where every patch is discussed and testers' reports shape the next build.”

About This Game

Dig anywhere

Every metre of Fellmark's world is ground you can dig: about two kilometres down to bedrock, with a lava sea at the bottom. Tunnel, quarry, terrace or hollow out a mountain. The ground fights back. Undercut a sand slope and it pours down on you. Breach the seabed and the ocean follows you into your tunnel. Leave a wide roof unsupported and it caves in.

Mine, smelt and forge

Ore runs in veins and pockets, and the deeper you dig the better the metal tends to be. Smelt it at the forge, then make tools, weapons and armour across thirteen metals, from copper to starmetal and voidstone, plus seven alloys. Socket gems into your gear and keep it repaired.

Build a home, then a stronghold

Foundation-first building in ten structural sets, from log and stone to titanium and adamantium. Pieces snap together, upgrade in place, need real structural support, and can burn.

A living world

  • Towns and cities, each one different: markets, forges, taverns and castles, with townsfolk who work by day, head to the tavern at night and sleep in their own beds.
  • Viking villages along the coasts, and longships you can capture.
  • Twenty kinds of wildlife, bandit camps, raiders and dungeons with bosses.
  • Horses, sailing boats on a shifting wind, and airships lifted by aether balloons.

Survive the fells

Start with nothing. Find food and water, stay warm in the snow and cool in the desert, and carry light into caves that are truly dark. Hire villagers as miners, woodcutters, hunters, smiths and guards.

From forge to factory

In the endgame, power your base with generators, solar collectors and steam turbines, then automate it: ore extractors, conveyors, smelters, assemblers, mass storage, and freight rail between your bases.

Better together

Play online co-op with guilds, parties, text chat and proximity voice, or single-player offline. Server and client Lua scripting is open to modders.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Fellmark includes stylised combat with swords, bows, guns and magic against wildlife, bandits, raiders and monsters, with brief blood effects when characters are hit. Players can also attack townsfolk, which is treated as a crime and punished with bounties. Characters can form relationships with NPCs; sex is only referenced through a dialogue option and never shown. Taverns serve alcohol. There is no gore, nudity or explicit sexual content.
