About This Game

The Inherited Hotel

A few months ago, your grandfather was found dead in the front desk chair of the hotel he had run his entire life, an unloaded shotgun resting across his knees. Nobody else in the family wanted the place, so you took it on: a diner, a handful of rooms to manage, a clothesline on the porch, and two cats that don't think much of you. It's October 1997 in Lakewood, and the morning customers are already ringing the bell.

The Diner

Prepare and serve customer orders using the tools at hand. Chop ingredients with the knife, flip them on the griddle with the spatula, roll out the dough, and pop open beers with the bottle opener.

Front Desk and Rooms

Welcome guests and assign them their rooms. It's also on you to keep the place in order: cleaning, washing towels, hanging them out to dry, ironing them, and dealing with whatever the last guest left behind. It's a lot of hotel for one person.

Not Everyone Checking In Is Human

Most of your guests are ordinary people staying for a few days or just passing through. Some might be a little eccentric, but others... are pretending to be human.

Features

  • First-person physical labor: cook meals, clean rooms, and hand out keys to guests.

  • NPCs with daily routines and regulars whose behavior shifts over time.

  • Observation-based psychological horror: tell humans apart from impostors and decide who to report, with real consequences for those staying at the hotel.

  • Immersive story: uncover what's happening in Lakewood and what your grandfather knew.

  • HUD-zero design: find information through physical objects, conversations, and what unfolds around you.

  • PSX-inspired low-poly pixel art, set in a lonely 1997 lakeside hotel.
