What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I’m developing Brine & Brass as a small, focused solo project. The core sailing, salvage and harbor-restoration loop is in place, and I want player feedback to help shape the next stage: how the routes feel, how upgrades progress, and where the waters need more variety. Early Access gives me a way to improve those parts with people who enjoy the game while keeping its cozy, unhurried character.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I’m planning for under a year of Early Access. The timing will depend on playtesting, the issues players encounter, and how the remaining improvements develop. I don’t have a firm full-release date, and I’ll share updates on progress through Steam announcements.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to build on the existing game with more variety between waters, better-paced upgrades and restoration costs, clearer voyage feedback, and further interface, audio and performance polish. Player feedback will help determine which changes are most useful. The intended scope remains a compact single-player salvage game; these plans may change during development.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version includes sailing, magnetic salvage, wreck recovery, selling at the home dock, six equipment upgrade tracks, ten keepsakes and five harbor restorations leading to an ending. You can continue sailing afterward.

There is one scrolling island bay with five water variants that change the palette, salvage values and site distances. The variants currently share the island geography. A chart and home bearing help with navigation. Optional practice, Relaxed tides, key rebinding, Reduced Motion and local save/resume are included.

The game is for one player on Windows with keyboard and mouse, with mouse-only gameplay also available. Route variety, progression balance, presentation and compatibility remain areas for improvement. Updates may contain bugs or change balance. I aim to preserve saves, but cannot guarantee compatibility with every future update; any known reset requirement will be announced before that update.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I currently plan to keep the same base price during Early Access and at full release. If that plan changes as the scope develops, I’ll announce the change before it takes effect.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Please share bug reports, suggestions and impressions in the Brine & Brass Steam Discussions. I’m especially interested in the first few voyages, upgrade pacing, navigation and which parts feel repetitive or unclear.

For bug reports, the game version, steps to reproduce the problem and a screenshot are helpful. I’ll use recurring feedback and playtest results to prioritize updates, and share changes through Steam announcements. I can’t promise to implement every suggestion, but the feedback will help guide the work.”

About This Game

A small boat. A fresh start.

Brine & Brass is a cozy salvage adventure about finding a little treasure and bringing an old harbor back to life. Cast off into quiet island waters, gather what the tide left behind, and turn your haul into your next improvement.

Cruise near scrap and let your magnet draw it in. Send out a pulse for a wider reach, or linger beside a wreck while your winch uncovers its contents. Follow the chart through a scrolling bay, mark your next destination, and bring a full hold home.

Sell your cargo for brass. Fit a stronger magnet, expand the hold, improve your motor and winch, or recruit helpful salvage gulls. Five water variants offer different colors, salvage values and longer routes within the same island bay.

Restore the jetty, boathouse, ferry bell and lighthouse. Uncover ten keepsakes, each with a small story. Five harbor restorations lead to an ending, with continued sailing afterward.

Play at your pace

Learn in an optional practice voyage, or cast off and find your own way. High tide brings you safely home with your haul. Clear all salvage first and the clock stops, letting you sail back to the dock. Prefer no timer? Turn on Relaxed tides.

Six equipment tracks. Ten keepsakes. Five harbor restorations. Local save and resume, adjustable controls, Reduced Motion, and mouse-only gameplay and menus.
