About This Demo

Try MaMills free for Steam Next Fest

MaMills is a cozy, controller-first board game: four-in-a-row, but the board goes up too. You drop coloured cylinders onto a 4×4 grid of vertical sticks, gravity stacks them, and the first player to line up four wins. Rows, columns, vertical stacks and diagonals straight through the cube all count: sixteen sticks, sixty-four places, seventy-six ways to win.

This demo is a real slice of the full game, with its own save and a small goal of its own.

What is in the demo

  • The tutorial – learn the rules inside a real match, one control at a time. When it ends, it offers you an Easy match.
  • The Machine on three levels – Beginner, Easy and Medium, ten matches on each. Only wins and losses use up a match; a draw is free.
  • One Grandmaster match – win once on each of the three levels, and the Machine on Expert waits for you, once. If a level runs out of matches before you win there, it is excused, and the Grandmaster still opens once the other levels are won.
  • Hotseat – two players on one device, as often as you like.
  • Puzzles – the Beginner level of the Puzzles mode, eight positions with exactly one answer each, and the first three puzzles after the tutorial.
  • Four themes – Classic red and blue, Violet, a colour-blind-safe blue and orange, and our first theme, Halloween, debuting here for Steam Next Fest and coming with the full game: the whole game turns to night, with spiders against pumpkins on a moonlit board, cobwebs in the corners and a little spider that walks the title. More seasonal themes to come.
  • Every setting – eight drop sounds, two loading screens, full keyboard and gamepad rebinding, and all the accessibility options: patterned cylinders, text size from 85% to 130%, reduce motion, opaque dialogs and mono audio.

What the full game adds

Nothing in the demo is hidden. What is locked is marked, and it is all in the full game:
  • Hard and Expert any time, and no match limit on any level.
  • LAN and Steam Remote Play Together – play a friend on another device. There is no chat of any kind, text or voice: the two of you only play the match.
  • Four more Puzzles levels (32 puzzles) and the last three tutorial puzzles, the Gold & Silver palette you earn by beating Expert, and lifetime statistics.
  • 21 Steam achievements, three leaderboards and Steam Cloud.
Demo progress stays in the demo. If you enjoy it, please wishlist MaMills: it helps a one-person game more than anything else, and Steam will tell you when it comes out in Q4 2026.

Built for Steam Deck

Controller-first, readable at the Deck's native resolution, and safe to suspend mid-match. It plays just as well on the desktop with a keyboard and mouse or any gamepad. English and Hungarian.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

AI tools were used to help build MaMills: much of the code, the visual and interface design were created with AI assistance, then reviewed, tested and refined by the developer.
Nothing is generated while you play. The Machine, your computer opponent, is classic board-game logic that looks a few moves ahead.
Not a generative AI, and the game sends no data to any AI service.
The cylinder drop sounds were made by the developer, and the music is "Deliberate Thought" by Kevin MacLeod.
