What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are entering Early Access because we plan to significantly expand DriftyLands over time. The game is already fully playable and offers a substantial amount of gameplay, but we want to continue improving its quality while adding more content.

Player feedback is an important part of this process. We want to listen to our community and use their feedback to guide development. If players dislike a feature, we may improve it, change it, remove it, or introduce something new based on what we learn from the community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect DriftyLands to remain in Early Access for approximately 6 months. This is an estimate rather than a fixed deadline, as the development process will also depend on player feedback and the improvements we decide to make.

Leaving Early Access will mark the transition to the game's initial full release, but development will not stop there. We intend to continue creating new content and improving the game after the full release as well.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version to offer a larger and more polished experience than the Early Access version.

Our plans include expanding the number and variety of islands, adding new machines, automation systems, creatures, dungeons, bosses, food and animal types, as well as improving the overall quality of animations, meshes and other visual elements.

New islands can also introduce new resources, machines, automation possibilities and progression. We are also considering larger systems for the future, such as portals, additional worlds and ways of moving products between different areas.

The overall scope of these additions will be guided by player feedback during Early Access. We want the community to help us determine which features are worth expanding and which ideas should be changed or reconsidered.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version already contains the core gameplay systems of DriftyLands and is fully playable.

There are currently 10 islands, with 8 of them offering different content and environments. Players can gather resources, build with voxels, craft, automate production, fish, raise animals, collect resources from them, cook food and explore dungeons and other areas.

The automation system can handle the entire production process, from gathering resources to processing and selling them. How much of the game a player chooses to automate is largely up to their preferred playstyle.

Co-op is playable for up to 4 players. Players can build, explore and manage their operation together.

The current building system focuses on voxel block placement, and the main gameplay systems are already functional. Some multiplayer issues are still being addressed, and we expect to continue improving the experience during Early Access.

We also want to continue improving the quality of animations, creature meshes and other visual elements as development progresses.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently do not plan to change the game's base price when it leaves Early Access. We want players who support the game during Early Access to receive the same core game at the same base price as the game continues to develop.

Future content may be offered separately in the form of optional DLC, but our current plan is to keep the base game price unchanged.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will be an important part of how we develop DriftyLands.

We have a Discord community and will also use Steam Discussions to communicate with players, collect feedback and discuss upcoming changes. The game also includes an in-game feedback system, allowing players to share their thoughts directly while playing.

We will review player suggestions and use community feedback to help determine what we improve, change, add or reconsider. We also plan to provide a demo so players can experience the game and give us feedback before deciding whether to purchase it.

Our goal is to keep development open and responsive, while making sure that community feedback helps shape the direction of the game.”

About This Game

Build Your Island

Gather resources, craft tools and build your base from the ground up. Chop trees, mine ore, fish the waters and turn a small workshop into your own industrial operation.

  • Gather & Craft: Collect resources and turn them into tools, materials and machines.
  • Build Freely: Create your own bases, factories and cozy spaces with voxel building.

Automate Everything

Your factory should work for you. Build machines that gather, transport, process and craft resources automatically.

  • Production Lines: Connect machines and create increasingly complex automated systems.
  • Keep Growing: Upgrade your operation and turn manual work into a self-running factory.

Explore Beyond Your Island

The ocean is filled with islands to discover, each offering new resources and opportunities to expand your operation.

  • Explore & Discover: Travel between islands and search for valuable resources and new places to build.
  • Progress Further: Unlock new technologies and expand your operation as you explore.

Delve Into Dungeons

Your home island is always safe. The islands beyond it are not, and every one of them hides a dungeon underneath.

  • Dungeons & Loot: Pull levers, open sealed gates and crack open chests full of rare materials.
  • Creatures & Bosses: Fight the creatures that guard each island and challenge the boss waiting in its arena.

Play Your Way

Build, automate, explore or simply relax. DriftyLands is designed around satisfying progression without unnecessary pressure.
