About This Game

NABTE is a first-person horror game set in Mexico, 1926.

You wake inside a psychiatric institution with no clear way out. Finding one means making your way through its wards, offices, treatment rooms and service areas while trying to understand what has been happening there.

There is no conventional combat. The people and creatures inside cannot simply be fought off. Staying out of sight, finding places to hide and learning how each threat behaves are part of making it through the institution.

But not everything that is going wrong is happening around you. As you go further, physical and perceptual symptoms begin to worsen. What you see and hear becomes less reliable, and your own body does not always respond the way it should.

EXPLORE THE INSTITUTION

Search rooms and corridors for items, keys, documents and other things that can help you move forward. Some areas are optional, while others hide information about the institution and the people who lived and worked there.

AVOID WHAT YOU CANNOT FIGHT

NABTE has no conventional combat. Threats must be avoided, hidden from or escaped. What they can see and hear matters, and getting caught in the wrong place can turn exploration into a pursuit.

PUZZLES AND MECHANISMS

Progress through environmental puzzles, locked routes and mechanisms built into the institution. Objects you find may be needed somewhere else, and a limited inventory means you cannot carry everything at once.

SOMETHING IS HAPPENING TO YOUR BODY

The symptoms do not stay the same. They develop throughout the game, affecting perception and eventually the way your body responds. Whatever is happening to you is becoming harder to ignore.
