A fairy-tale anomaly horror game.

You are Little Red, journeying through a cursed forest to deliver a basket of goodies to Grandma’s cottage. But the woods don't seem to end. The trails loop, and the area grows more oppressive with every step. Worst of all, something is watching you.

The Rules of the Woods

Look carefully at your surroundings before you commit.

If everything appears normal, press forward.

If you spot an anomaly, turn around and run back immediately.

Key Features

• A Living Storybook: Low-poly, dithered PS1-era woods in storybook colors, alive with roe deer, squirrels, songbirds and bees. Cloud shadows drift across sunlit clearings, and the grass sways in the wind. The further you walk, the darker it gets.

• The Basket: There’s no HUD. Everything you need is in Little Red’s basket. Your goodies are your health: every time the woods catch you, you lose one, and if you run out, you won’t survive the journey. Keep your eyes open, since you might find other food along the way. The basket also carries your paper map and Grandpa’s pocket watch, which keeps your real-world time. Press it, and the game pauses.

• Wrong Turns: Little Red writes every anomaly she turns back from in her little book. The ones you haven’t found yet show up first, and every mistake reshuffles the woods, so no two runs are the same.

• The Prowling Wolf: The Big Bad Wolf stalks these woods. When you see him, run!

• Deeper Into the Woods: Chain correct choices to clear an area. The Whispering Path, the Mushroom Forest and the Riding Estate each hide their own anomalies.

• Secret Paths & Multiple Endings: Veer off from the main trail to find secret locations and shortcuts hidden in the woods. What awaits you at the end of your journey depends on what you did to get there, and what’s left in your basket.

• VR Support: Prefer a headset? The whole game also plays in VR, at no extra cost. Carry the basket in your hand, and take out the map or the book to read as you walk. Choose snap or smooth turning.

• Play Your Way: Every layer of the retro look can be switched off, from the CRT filter to dithering and vertex snapping, and so can head bob. Text size is adjustable, and 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound are supported.
