About This Game

Ogresfield

Magic wasn’t made for everyone — but that never stopped them from trying.

Welcome to Ogresfield Academy, a working-class magic school in England where apprentices study ancient spells, brew potions in battered cauldrons, and try to build a future in a magical world that was never designed for people like them.

But Ogresfield is more than a school.

Beneath its ageing classrooms, forgotten corridors, and imposing halls lies a history stretching back generations — a history of inequality, forbidden magic, strange disappearances, and secrets that powerful people would rather remain buried.

A Traditional Story-Driven JRPG

Ogresfield is a fantasy JRPG inspired by the classic role-playing games of the 1990s and 2000s. Rather than being a life simulator or an endless school sandbox, Ogresfield follows a structured narrative arc filled with memorable characters, exploration, turn-based battles, mysteries, and meaningful choices.

Your decisions matter.

The friendships you build, the choices you make, and the way you respond to the conflicts around you will influence your journey and help determine the person your character ultimately becomes.

This is a story about magic, class, friendship, ambition, and morality — and about what happens when ordinary people discover that the world they have been taught to accept is built on extraordinary lies.

🎓 Welcome to Ogresfield Academy

Life at Ogresfield is far from the polished fantasy academies of legend.

Students come from different backgrounds, but not everyone is treated equally. Some arrive with prestigious family names and generations of magical knowledge behind them. Others have had to fight for every opportunity they've been given.

Study spells. Learn magical theory. Experiment with potions. Meet your fellow apprentices.

And try not to get expelled.

As you progress through the story, you'll encounter classmates, teachers, rivals, and other strange inhabitants of Ogresfield — each with their own ambitions, secrets, and reasons for being there.

⚔️ Classic Turn-Based Combat

When lessons end, danger begins.

Ogresfield features traditional turn-based JRPG combat, combining elemental weaknesses, magical abilities, status effects, party tactics, and strategic decision-making.

Build your party, discover enemy weaknesses, manage your resources, and make use of the spells and abilities you've learned at the academy.

The combat is designed to capture the feeling of classic JRPGs while providing modern balancing and accessible mechanics.

🗺️ Explore, Discover & Uncover Secrets

Ogresfield isn't just about following the main story.

Explore the academy and its surrounding areas, speak with characters, investigate strange occurrences, discover hidden items, and uncover secrets tucked away in forgotten corners.

The world rewards curiosity.

A seemingly insignificant conversation, unusual object, or unexplored room may reveal another piece of the larger mystery surrounding Ogresfield.

📜 Choices That Shape Your Destiny

Ogresfield isn't simply a story you watch unfold.

Throughout your journey, you'll face decisions involving friendship, morality, ambition, loyalty, and power. There isn't always an obvious right answer, and the consequences of your decisions may not become apparent immediately.

Who will you trust?

What will you stand for?

And how far are you willing to go to uncover the truth?

Your choices help shape your relationships and your path through the story, ultimately influencing what kind of mage — or monster — you become.

🌒 A Darker Secret Beneath the Academy

The history of Ogresfield is not as noble as its grand halls suggest.

Generations of students have passed through the academy, but some truths have been deliberately forgotten. As you investigate the mysteries surrounding the school, you'll discover a darker world beneath the familiar traditions of magical education.

Class conflict, corruption, forbidden magic, and forgotten powers begin to collide as the story progresses.

What begins as an ordinary school year becomes something far more dangerous.

🧪 A World Built for Story

Ogresfield isn't designed to be an endless simulation of school life.

It is a story-driven adventure with a beginning, a developing mystery, and a larger narrative waiting to unfold.

The full game is planned as three major story chapters, each expanding the world, characters, mysteries, and consequences of your decisions.

The academy is the setting.

The story is the game.
